Situation: Through a coup, a new government has come to power in the U.S.

Which of these people would you turn in to the new government?

  • The atheist family who are raising their children as atheists ($10,000 x 4)

  • The gay couple ($10,000 x 2)

  • The 14-year-old son of a neighbor who has self-identified as gay $10,000)

  • The Muslim family ($2,500 x 4)

  • The liberal families ($5,000 x 11)

  • The family of Jehovah's Witnesses ($5,000 x 5)

  • The nurse practitioner who works for Planned Parenthood ($10,000 x 1)

  • The woman who had an abortion several years ago ($10,000 x 1)

  • All of these people ($140,000)

  • None of these people: turning them in would be profoundly immoral.

As one of the new government's first acts after assuming power, it has designated certain groups as "undesirables" and "threats to the state", the members of which are to be rounded up and sent to prison camps.

To help gain citizen support for rounding up these "undesirables" and "threats to the state", the government is offering the following bounties (per person) to people who report the names and addresses of each of the following:

Atheists $10,000
Homosexuals $10,000
Doctors who perform abortions abortions $10,000
Women who have had abortions $10,000
Political dissidents $7,500
Liberals $7,500
Liberal or non-orthodox Christians $5,000
Doctors or pharmacists who prescribe or give birth control pills or contraceptives $5,000
Non-Christians $2,500

In your neighborhood are the following:
• An atheist family who are raising their children as atheists
• A gay couple
• The 14-year-old son of a neighbor who has self-identified as gay
• A Muslim family
• A family of liberal Christians
• A family of liberal activists
• A family of Jehovah's Witnesses
• A nurse practitioner who works for Planned Parenthood
• A woman who had an abortion several years ago after her husband (who was physically abusive) left her and she lost her job, and who knew she wouldn't be able to afford to carry the child to term.

Would you turn any of these people in; and if so, which people would you furnish the names and addresses to the government?

Oh, yes! I'd shop every one of them and I'd consider it my civic duty to decline the reward for doing it too! I'd also have no hesitation in personally administering the Zyclon B in order to rid our Christian country of such sinful reprobates!

(Meanwhile, back in the real world...)

Oh, yes, it COULD happen here.

Read through some of the posts in Christians Only Section/Theology/Christian Philosopy and Ethics/Homosexuality,

- some of the congregational forums
- General Political Discussion

or some of the places where some of the more malicious things posted by people who call themselves "Christian" are collected.

PM me and I'll send you the specific address.

Oh, yes, Simon: it very well COULD happen here. :(

Nah, people would just turn any one in just for the money. The country would very quickly end up bankrupt?

The people who would genuinely support such an anti-Christian regime would not be politically astute enough to pull it off.

All of those would be immoral, imo.
Is this a response to the view that of comes up in debates- that we should follow our governments, unless it goes against Biblical teachings? Or have I got it hopelessly and miserably wrong? Interesting question, anyway :)

Sorry but not all Christian fundamentalists (myself included) are as out of their trees as the ones to whom you are referring. These are extreme examples.

Simon:

Look at the examples I presented:

Atheists $10,000
Homosexuals $10,000
Doctors who perform abortions abortions $10,000
Women who have had abortions $10,000
Political dissidents $7,500
Liberals $7,500
Liberal or non-orthodox Christians $5,000
Doctors or pharmacists who prescribe or give birth control pills or contraceptives $5,000
Non-Christians $2,500

The only explicitly "Christian" group are the liberal or non-orthodox Christians -- who in my experience at CF (and in real life) are disliked very nearly as much as atheists and gays.

I voted none of them. It is not my responsibility to be the moral police. My duty is to love my God, live my life in a pleasing manner, witness to those I have an opportunity to, and help those who need help.

I firmly believe we will all answer to Christ on the last day, and I plan to answer that I lived my life with love and charity. I may not have all the answers, but I'm not in the minority there. If "Christians" would start worrying less about how others behave and more about themselves, their would be a lot more souls in heaven.

Don't take that to mean I advocate immoral behavior. I don't. I live a personal life that I hope is what God wants from me. I want others to do that also, and I will tell people how I feel about certain behaviors. But I will not force them to convert to my way of thinking. That'd be no different that the Pharisees of ancient time, or fundamentalist muslims of the present.

Along the lines of the same rant, in the OP (and at least one poster) would persecute those that are different, but yet here we are, where I can find literally thousands of threads whining about the world persecuting Christians. That can be seen as hypocrasy.

I don't think I would get the chance. I would be in the first list myself. :D

I think you will find that if the propaganda is carried out appropriately people will do this for nothing, and feel proud to do so.

This happened all over Europe not so long ago. Some protected those who were sought, and some handed them in, and rarely for money. Hatred and fear is enough. And in case that feels alien, what about the Macarthy witchhunts? Did anyone need paying to betray their friends as 'communists', when such betrayal is described as patriotic?

Yeah, that nurse from Planned Parenthood would get hers/his.

"I was stunned when I saw on the ultrasound a tiny, living creature spinning around in my womb. Tap-dancing, I think. Waving its tiny arms around and trying to suck its thumb. I could have sworn I heard it laughing." ("World Magazine" December, 1996)
- Maddona

"The greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion, which is war against the child. The mother doesn't learn to love, but kills to solve her own problems. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want."
- Mother Teresa

"After being taken to a waiting area, the woman allegedly gave birth to the baby that she thought had been aborted the day before. The teenager was sent home after a brief examination.''Employees cut the umbilical cord, put the baby in a bag and walked away with it," Hialeah Lt. Ralph Gracia told a local CBS television station." http://www.lifenews.com/state1767.html

"By Ron Strom
© 2005 WorldNetDaily.com

"A woman who was scheduled to have her 22-week-along pregnancy ended at a Florida abortion clinic instead delivered the baby alive in a restroom and says her pleading for help from medical staff went unheeded, even when an employee saw that the tiny boy was moving."

“I have never known a woman who, after her baby was born, was not overjoyed that I had not killed it.”
– Abortionist Aleck Bourne in "A Doctor Speaks," London Express, Jan 25
"Suction Aspiration
Used in most (90%) abortions during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Anesthesia, general or local, is given to the mother. There is no fetal anesthetic. The mouth of the womb (cervix) is dilated. During pregnancy the cervix is closed tightly to protect the baby and can be easily damaged by forcible dilation. A suction curette (hollow tube with a knife-like edged tip) is inserted into the womb. A strong suction tears the baby to pieces, drawing them into a container. Great care must be used to prevent the womb from being perforated by this procedure. Sometimes, in a very early suction abortion, a smaller tube can be inserted and the cervix does not have to be dilated so severely; this is called a “menstrual extraction”. Often, however, the tube does not remove all the pieces and infection will result, requiring the cervix to be fully dilated and a “D&C” performed. "
"In a partial-birth/Intact D&E abortion, the abortionist pulls a living baby feet-first (forcing a breech position) out of the womb and into the birth canal (vagina), except for the head, which the abortionist purposely keeps lodged just inside the cer vix (the opening to the womb). The abortionist punctures the base of the skull with a long surgical scissors, with a hollow metal tube called a trochar, or with some other surgical instrument. He then inserts a catheter (tube) into the wound, and removes the baby's brain with a powerful suction machine. This causes the skull to collapse, after which the abortionist completes the delivery of the now-dead baby. What someone chooses to call this "procedure" is irrelevant. A nice, generic sounding name such a s "Intact D&E" applied to jamming scissors in a baby's skull and vacuuming out the brain doesn't magically modify the procedure..."

Silly little poll! God loves everyone and helping some kind of corrupt
government round up whoever for whatever is an asinine notion!

Calling sin, sin! Warning those who live such lifestyles they need to repent, and turn from such lifestyles, is what God called Christians to do.
There is repentance and remission of sins found in the holy Name of Jesus! This includes a self surrender! Loving righteousness and hating sin! Just like our
Savior did! God the Father exalted Jesus because he loved truth and righteousness, and hated wickedness!

That includes listing sinful lifestyles that will not allow men to inherit salvation. It was repeated in scriptures more than once. They that do such
things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God!

It is the burden of my heart that satan has run such a scam on the church.
People are deceived into believing God will accept anyone without them forsaking their sinful lifestyles. John the beloved said those that continue in the
darkness do not have fellowship with God. They say they do but the scripture calls them liars and goes on to say the truth is not in them.

It breaks my heart to see people who believe they are on their way to heaven yet have never had a regeneration that caused them to forsake sin and cling to the righteousness that Jesus can and has provided for them.

My friend, I love Jesus and I love people! I cry out to God that people everywhere will have a genuine conversion! So one more soul will be rescued from eternal damnation.

UL: one day there will be a round up! Some for eternal life and many more for eternal damnation!

It may be silly and asenine, but it was done in Nazi Germany, and Stalinist Russia, and Mao Zhedong's Cultural Revolution, and when the Khmer Rouge ran Cambodia, and when Slobodan Milosevic was cleansing Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia of Croats, Bosnians and Muslims; and it was done in Rwanda, and it's being done in the Sudan.

And it could happen here.

This is kind of stupid. God did not call us to hate people for their actions... God called us to love people, but hate their sin. I by no means would turn someone in because they are gay or atheist or whatever... I don't like that they are these things... but just because that is not what God has called humans to be. If anything I would witness to these people. What kind of witnesses for CHRIST are we if we are so ignorant to hate someone because of how they are before they know God? And how will they ever meet God if we act this way... Anyone who thinks it is okay to do this needs to read the Bible. Remember we are witnesses of God who loves us all and while YOU and I were still in SIN he gave up His life and died for us!!! God does not call us to hate he calls us to love!

And do not let us forget either: He who has not sinned cast the first stone!

In Christ
