  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Emotional Abusive Parent?

I started to write a very lengthy post earlier and decided to keep it short for now and then see where this thread goes. How do I help my kids (11s, 13s, 16d and 18d) deal with what I would call emotional abuse from their mother? In the past I would discuss these issues directly to her but her...

    Divorced Parent Rant

I appreciate all of the responses. The weekend came and went as I knew it would. I don't mind being flexible. Unlike many families, including some in this thread, I am fortunate enough to live in the same town as my kids. So being flexible, at least on the surface, should be easy. But I'm not...

    Divorced Parent Rant

That is certainly something I would be willing to do but without getting into my situation too deeply, I'm not dealing with a person who is always reasonable. But again, I know that my kids need to be involved in things like this. It comes down to me restraining on the self-pity.

    Divorced Parent Rant

This isn't the first time. It happens often that things like this pop up and I'm asked to give my time up, which I almost always do. I've been told that I'm too "soft" but I don't want my kids to miss out on things like this even if it doesn't include me. But that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt...

    Divorced Parent Rant

I'm writing this for no other reason than to vent. During the summer months I get primary custody of our boys (age 10 and 12). My ex has it during the school year. So as you can imagine I very much look forward to the summer since I get to see my kids more often but I don't like my time with...

    Teaching morals my kids

My biggest concern has been that my girls, or my boys for that matter, don't lose their moral compass. They are exposed to two different lifestyles, one that tries to honor God and the other that barely even acknowledges his existence. It is very difficult to instill the things in them that I...

    Teaching morals my kids

My ex is has been involved with a married man for a few years now. It's what led to our divorce and over time our teenage daughters have discovered their mother's extracurricular activities (our two younger sons do not know). My daughter's disapprove of her behavior but obviously there is little...

I try to be like Christ, buuutt.....

it's so hard! My ex presents me with new trials and tests my patience almost on a daily basis. Through this all I've tried to rise above it by asking myself, "How would Christ handle this?" The problem with this is it seems that I get walked all over because I go out of my way to be nice and to...

Showing Christ to children of divorced parents

Quick history….I was married for 15 years and had 4 beautiful children, now aged 10, 12, 15 and 17. During our marriage my wife cheated on me three times that I’m aware of. The first two times she wanted to end the marriage but I fought to keep it together. The third time I was not successful...
