  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

COVID-19, the Eucharist, and Celiac Disease

I don't know if there have been studies on germ transmission on communion cups within Orthodox churches, but there have been with Catholic/Protestant ones. The hazard of infection from the shared communion cup. - PubMed - NCBI "There is substantial evidence that neither infection with...

    Prayers please - a fall

Prayers for a speed recovery. One thing that did change during the COVID-19 shutdown is that more insurance companies are covering teladoc services. Obviously, it's not as good as having an in-person exam, but you can at least have someone look at it and check symptoms. Check your insurance...

Letter from Elder Evthymios of Kapsala of Mt. Athos on Coronavirus

It really doesn't matter whether you're arguing against one or all of them. If the results say that these vaccines are safe and you're arguing against it without providing peer-reviewed research, then you're part of the anti-vax movement. Why do you think we've seen an uptick in measles after...

Letter from Elder Evthymios of Kapsala of Mt. Athos on Coronavirus

First, I want to say thank you for putting your life on the line. You're a better person than I am in that regard. That being said.... This is the definition of anti-vax. You're basing your claims to not get certain vaccinations because of "globalist" or "godless" entities without citing proper...

Letter from Elder Evthymios of Kapsala of Mt. Athos on Coronavirus

What utter anti-vax nonsense. There's been no link to hepatitis B and MS nor has there been any link to recent H1N1 vaccines and paralysis. You have to go back to 1976 where there was speculation that there was a slight risk. Guillain-Barré Syndrome Concerns | Vaccine Safety | CDC Hepatitis B...

RUSSIAN ORTHODOX BLACK METAL IN CATHOLIC POLAND?

It's a good idea to clear your browser regularly anyway since tracking cookies can follow you from one site to the next. You might also have to clear it in your Google account (if you're signed in). Going off topic slightly, but what genres did you end up listening to instead? I'll admit I've...

What do you think about the Amish?

To give some background, I live in Pennsylvania, which has a large percentage of Amish population. Recently, one of my neighbors adopted a dog from a Amish breeder that lives probably within 20 miles of us. The dog was unable to have any more pups and the guy was just going to get rid of her...

    What I Believe

Yeah, defense contractors are always a sticky situation. A lot of those companies seem to exist to just overbill the government for everything. There's one that's in my town and some of the comments I've heard from former co-workers are less than flattering. I don't know how it is in the UK, but...

    What I Believe

Actually, the UK did have a bustling computer industry at one point. Popular computers in the 80s were the BBC micro and machines from Sinclair and Acorn. One of the companies that stayed on as the rest of the industry went away is ARM holdings, which currently sells its IP holdings for ARM...

(Eastern Orthodox Only) have you ever considered this place to be sinful?

Sometimes even Orthodox message boards can get messy. I remember stumbling into one thread (not here) about fasting and it devolved into the "correct" method of fasting. Don't remember where I saw it and it certainly wasn't good for anyone's spiritual growth.

    Orthodox That Are Against Vaccines

Let's put it this way. Even though there is 0 proof that vaccines cause autism and no moral case against vaccines, let's pretend they do cause autism. What would you prefer, more autistic children or more dead children? If you visit old graveyards, you'll probably see a lot of tombstones with...

    Best Bible translation for Orthodox?

This is a schismatic site. Don't buy stuff from them. It's not Orthodox.
