Yet Jesus himself said,I have said and I say again; it is somewhat disgusting to compare the glorious Return of Jesus, to the actions of a thief.
Matthew 24:
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Jesus was speaking about his return. Then, right in the middle of that, he uses an analogy about a thief breaking into a house.
Why would he say that?
Why not use a different analogy; maybe something from their history?
What about; "if the people of Noah's day had believed that it was going to rain, they might have repented and cried out to God"?
"If Pharaoh had known that his first born son would die he might have been prepared to let the Hebrew slaves leave Egypt sooner"?
"If the shepherd had known that a wolf was going to attack the sheep he would have stayed awake all night"?
Or some other analogy that gives the sense of something happening suddenly and taking people by surprise?
It is somewhat disgusting to use the word "disgusting" when talking about something that Jesus said.
