Awww...but Rush died...it's in such bad taste to say anything bad about him, because dying (literally something that will happen to all of us) means everyone else has to pretend to like you and soften their rhetoric for a month or two </sarcasm>

Rob Reiner injected himself into politics the same way Rush Limbaugh and Charlie Kirk did, and as I showed above, wasn't opposed to the "stick the boot in while the body's still warm" approach if it was a person he didn't like.

Had it been someone like a Keanu Reeves (someone who's known for being non-controversial, nice guy, charitable, and keeping his politics to himself and going out of his way to stay out of all that sort of mess), and a politician went on a tirade about him, that'd be a different story.

Do I understand you well that everybody who says or writes something negative about Trump is fair game by now? Can you point me to any word where YTrump blames the murderer? Any sentence where is considers killing someone for voicing his opinion is wrong and illegal?

Interesting how people who do not care a lick about you and people who, you will never be allowed into their world. Can cause such polarization among people arguing over what they say and do. When you have no say in or control over the world they live in, which is not your world and most likely will never be (unless you win the 100 billion$ lottery). Then they may take notice of you not because of you, but because of the money you now have.

No, I'm suggesting that Rob Reiner was anything but apolitical.

A) I posted earlier showing where he, himself, did the "attack the day after death" to one of his own political rivals. He was not coy about using similar tactics. (evidenced by the tweet from him I linked that he put out the day after Rush Limbaugh died)

He was not just a "celeb who had a few political opinions". He chaired Democratic committees and led political organizations.

Saying he was "just an entertainer who dipped his toes in some occasional politics" would be like saying the same about Arnold Schwarzenegger or Jesse Ventura.

Can you point me to any word of Trump that condemns the murder? To any blame for the murderer? Can you point me to any time where Trump guarantees the free exercise of the First Amendment Rights, like engaging in peaceful politics?

It’s pretty undeniable he was a political figure but to try and stretch Reiner’s political involvement to match Limbaugh would be like calling Donald Trump an accomplished author.

In any case, it’s gross because all you’re doing is providing cover for the president’s distasteful comments after a famous couple’s murder.

You don't think that "thought leaders" continuously inundating people with hyperbolic rhetoric bordering on "the train cars are going to get fired up to start taking people to the concentration camps any day now" is going to make some people a little crazy?



As far as what was going through his son's mind (if the son, indeed, ends up being culprit)...who knows?

It could've been just mental instability in general. It could've been pressure of being in the spotlight. It could've been a backlash of sorts to his parents not being shy about airing out certain "dirty laundry" in public to promote certain forms of advocacy...or it could've just been the result of some sort of drug relapse (He had a few of them, one in which he went into a rage, and destroyed a lot of the items in their home)

Reiner's political involvement wasn't "minor" by any stretch of the imagination, he was extremely active in the world of politics, he led political organizations and chaired political committees... and the other post lists the various things he's said about Trump over the past few years up to and including basically comparing him to Hitler.

I do think there's a marked difference in sentiment between "I'm not going to mourn this guy who died because he was a jerk" and "This guy deserved to be murdered."

I figured he was a liberal activist pretty much like his character on All in the Family. But I don't recall that overshadowing his career as an actor, director and producer. That's what I know him for, not his specific political views or whatever activism he was involved in. Seemed like pretty nice guy. His and his wife's death and what allegedly happened is quite tragic.

Well then it’s like I said, I guess he had it coming. The president’s comments are perfectly reasonable and this is how a normal country acts in response to a famous person’s death.
