Are you advocating pulling a gun out on police to “protect” your family?

It doesn’t matter if it’s a police officer or not. Police are just people who are susceptible to corruption just like everyone else. Somebody trying to harm my family is someone trying to harm my family whether he’s a police officer or the president of the United States. I’m not about to stand aside and allow them to do it just because they hold a certain title or occupation.

I don’t see how that has anything to do with what He said in Luke 25. Just because He used the word sword?

The sword in general is a metaphor of strength. In Luke 25 Jesus gave the their disciples their second commission to go and spread the gospel of good news while in Rev. 1 Jesus is returning, Jesus is the Word. In both cases the metaphor is the strength of the word of God. He metaphorically tells that disciples to trust the word of God and defend it.

My instinct would be to deescalate the situation rather than escalate it by introducing a gun into the mix. That’s an easy way to put you and your family in the line of fire.

We aren’t moving towards nor have we ever been moving towards “unfettered” gun access. I think everyone here would agree that a background check is a necessary step to purchasing a firearm.

This verse explains the metaphorical aspect. Obviously Jesus was not a wrongdoer but He became one. The fulfillment is the culmination of the Word which is the death and resurrection.

Yeah this is news to me, I certainly am not supportive of selling guns to anyone without a background check whether it be personal sales or not.

Biden was still president when this news piece came out. I think you are seeing the GOP version of “resist” which is such a pet word for liberals today.

I would just never carry a gun with a round in the chamber if it doesn’t have a decocking feature. My position is that if you want to carry a gun with a round in the chamber you should buy a gun that has a decocking feature that is double action that way the hammer is blocked from striking the firing pin and can easily be fired quickly if need be.

I don't buy that argument, unless the laws are changed to permit me to draw and chamber the moment I smell something suspicious.

DA/SA guns have their own issues. I owned one back in the 80s and never liked that feature.

That’s true. I live in Houston and have a concealed carry license. I have bought guns and parts at the show from a private seller without a background check. I submitted to the background check when I received my concealed carry license.

As a practical matter, none of the show organizers want to be shut down by the ATF, so many if not most gun shows require FFL licenses of people who get show booths. And if they don't, those booths are not cheap; people who don't expect to sell enough items to make the booth fee won't have booths. And people who sell more than a fairly small amount of firearms per year must have FFLs.

So, as a pratical matter, if someone buys a gun at a gun show from a non-FFL...that sale is probably taking place in the parking lot. It could just as well be a Burger King parking lot.

That's because getting the concealed carry license requires a state background check.

They still run the person through the federal "instant check" for every gun purchase.

I wouldn’t count out double action firearms all together based on owning one bad gun 40 years ago. My Ruger SR22 is double action and I’ve never had a problem with it. I like the fact that I can keep a round in the chamber with the hammer in the decocked position and pull it out of my holster and all I have to do is move my thumb up about a half inch to turn the safety off and pull the trigger and it will fire. It makes me feel very confident with having a round in the chamber without having a hammer or striker that is under tension poised and ready to strike the firing pin if I happen to snag the gun on something, or trip and fall, or if a cop tries to take it out of my holster. But you do you bro.

I just bought an American Tactical Bulldog last Monday. It’s a bullpup 12 gauge. I haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet but I can’t wait.
