  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I’ve been watching a lot of videos about AI and I see a lot of people talking about AI replacing humans in almost every field of work. Many speculate that consumers would likely receive a universal income from the government and I just can’t wrap my mind around the idea because I can’t see where the government would get enough money to cover that huge of an expense. The largest portion of the government’s revenue is going to be coming from companies who are only paying a small portion of their profits in taxes which is somehow supposed to be enough to redistribute back to consumers who then buy products from the companies but there’s a rapid downward spiral in the actual numbers that doesn’t add up to me. Of only a portion of the companies’ profits are being paid to the government that means that consumers can only receive a portion of that money because some will be needed to operate the government and the rest that is left over going to consumers to recirculate back into the companies is going to be far less and less each year. So what’s going to fill this huge discrepancy in funds?

Move to Europe or Canada and maybe even Japan (if you don't fear North Korea, Russia, China, and random Kaijus).. The only FEW places on Earth UBI might work. However, this reprieve is only temporary.

It's not going to work in USA when the system is strongly favoring the rich over the poor unlike in Europe.

And realistically-speaking, UBI will not work globally - it will destabilize global economy and may even end up in WWIII. Either way, UBI or not, we may just head towards WWIII when global anarchy breaks loose when more people lose jobs and mounting tensions.

The main reason nothing will work is simply because the global production and resources won't be able to tend to all the needs of all 8 billion people in the planet. It works for now because the poor is absorbing the majority of the burden of balancing resource consumption. But if more people gets poor, tensions will be inevitable.

We'll have a class war on our hands, rich vs poor and it can easily become nuclear.

A nuclear Armageddon is inevitable. Or we invent the warp drive and starts colonizing habitable planets in other star systems before that happens.

Bottom line is there's just way too many people on Earth. UBI or even banning AI isn't the solution if we keep growing in numbers uncontrollably like cancer. Ironically, Christians are partly to blame in this problem for failing to see the context of God's command: "multiply in numbers" which doesn't literally always mean reproduction as Jesus reiterated later. I'm not saying reproduction is bad, use sound wisdom. We still need to bear 2 kids per couple to maintain population numbers.
