  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump promises $2000 tariff dividend to all Americans

It's going to take longer than 6 months for manufacturing to return to the United States. I'm a patient man... Let's see how things look after 4 or 5 years of tariffs.
Do you know why people, and this will almost certainly include you, prefer to buy goods that are manufactured overseas? Clothing, shoes, white goods, Tv's, computers, mobiles..?

We'll, it's a win for Ford, there's no doubt about that. But from the White House:

'Therefore, of the 16 million cars bought by Americans, only 25% of the vehicle content can be categorized as Made in America.'

And that's because the ones Made in America are more expensive. Now you're going to have less choice in what you buy and what will be available will be more expensive. Like the man said, it's a good deal for Ford. It ain't a good deal for you.

Because they like to buy affordable cheaply made things produced by slave or child labor whose profits go overseas to authoritarian regimes so that the Chinese government can continue to modernize their military and give them a worthy peer to peer force that the United States can face in a future battle space?

When did liberals become fiscal conservatives?
Trump seems to aways prompt them to go in the opposite direction. If he promoted breathing they'd hold their breath.

I don't think that's actually true. Americans want quality products more than cheap foreign junk. The exception would be high quality products made in places like France, Germany, Switzerland or Italy. We'll gladly pay for their top goods.

Really? Gosh, y'all are just like us Aussies. Yeah, I'd prefer some hand crafted bespoke shoes rather than the inexpensive ones I bought which were made in Thailand. I'd prefer some Egyptian cotton shirts rather then the cheaper cotton ones made in Vietnam. I'd really like a Ferrari rather than the Japanese hybrid we bought. But...you know, we can't all afford to buy the best there is. Sometimes you have to buy what you can afford so at least you can get food on the table.

Sorry, me rambling on about my finances, I completely forgot about whatever point it was you were making.

Those that can afford luxury will pay for it but the rest are filling stores like Walmart looking for the lowest cost. High quality is great if you don’t need that extra cash it costs to pay rent and feed your family.

I don't think thats correct for the average shopper. People do buy whats cheaper, but they don't think that deep about it. Do you honestly believe the average person looks at a label on a good and thinks, "oh this is made by slave labor in China. Let's buy it because we want a worthy peer to go to war with"?

Maybe you do, but the vast majority of folks don't. They just buy whatever is the shelf and dont think twice about any of it.

It takes a VERY long time to build a manufacturing facility in the US. Regulations require it. So if we are going to bring it back then patience is required. I honestly don't have much faith that we will bring it back. Corporations aren't going to give their current solid situations for tenuous ones.

And even if we did cut back on goods from places like China the liberals would be the first ones against it because they would complain how it affects the cost. We already saw that earlier when Trump was fighting with China over goods. They were all complaining how we needed those cheap goods. I remember debating them about it.

If I can by US made products I will. I have done a lot of research on products before I buy to see where they come from. Anymore, its very difficult to find anything that is US made or at least made in places that aren't made in places like you mentioned. But if I can I will buy things made in America or places that arent authoritarian regimes with child oe slave labor.

We are now the Richest, Most Respected Country In the World, With Almost No Inflation, and A Record Stock Market Price
About that stock market:

The [US] stock market lags dozens of countries, in a year of record highs The U.S. stock market lags behind dozens of countries, even in a year of record highs

Why did the US market start lagging the rest of the world after Trump took office?

President Trump tries to reduce the suffering of the average American family from the longterm effects of Biden's disaster of an economy that people are still feeling the financial pain from and on and is ruthlessly attacked by the liberals.
Trump's going to save us from there effects of the Trump Recession!

How?

With another recession!
