  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh yes, I think it must have been a tremendous strain. Always having to be polite no matter how tired you are, never being free to go where you want, endless engagements, which you need to be informed about. and never being able to express your personal views on political matters. They lack the freedom most of us take for granted.
Oh the agony of being a fabulously wealthy professional party guest.

Raised by a Nanny who rewarded her for waiting to urinate, because in the middle of an official engagement they cannot just say "Hold on, I need a wee."

Oh, and having to have tea with every Prime Minister, every week, even if she could not stand the person, and while she does not have the vote.

Wait...does A.Windsor have the right to vote out of this?
She was told no you can’t go to the bathroom right now, like us plebs were in kindergarten, has to have tea and a conversation with someone falling all over themselves to be polite once a week…arduous. How can a mortal cope with such strain?

That's not 100% clear year yet whether it's a true "loss" in a sense we'd think of it.

Getting relocated from one mansion to another out in the country side, and receiving a healthy annual stipend from the King isn't exactly a punishment.

Punishment for him would be "you get the boot from the Royal Lodge, and you'll have to go work at the Tesco and rent your own flat at your own expense"
Personally I think that punishment would be prison.

No, those were in addition to all the rest, not that it matters if you want to fall for the illusion that her life was just an absolute breeze all the way through.

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has been removed from the Royal Family website after he lost all his titles last week. Andrew’s name has been removed from official royal family lists, including The Roll of the Peerage on Oct. 31. It was also confirmed that he would leave his 30-room Royal Lodge home and be housed at a property on the King’s private Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Journalists are having fun with him.

Yeah, she may have had to dress herself unaided once or twice. Not a breeze at all.

Oh the agony of being a fabulously wealthy professional party guest.
She wasn't a socialite who could party as she pleased and spend her money as she chose. She was a working royal with great responsibility and a heavy schedule, who had to behave in a certain way, greet endless people with polite conversation, make speeches and be knowledgable about the places she visited and be careful about what she said. (Our Constitution, in Britain, is based on the monarchy being completely apolitical.) I wonder how often she just wanted to be at home with Philip and the family.

All of this was not her choice and, until the age of ten when her uncle abdicated, not expected.

And yet it's still only allegations! I don't think anyone should be named until proven guilty.

Very much so. I have no.idea why you don't believe that.
Something about them never having to lift a finger as long as they live while they are being fawned over in every interaction they have makes it impossible to view what they do as work. Now’s the part where Lizzy cosplaying as an ambulance driver come up right?

That's not true. They have numerous engagements and responsibilities. I think it must be exhausting to be fawned over, if that's what people are doing. They must long for people to be normal with them.

Yes, a life of luxury and deference must wear on one so.

They must long for people to be normal with them.
Can’t be longing too hard with the lack of abdications to live normal private lives.
