  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Under Title X of the US Code, the President has plenary authority..."

Stephen Miller accidentally letting slip with the quiet part there - and freezing because he realizes he shouldn't have said that.

So, what does it mean? Well, Title 10 of US Code is the portion of federal law that pertains to the military, and, in context, he's referring to the president's ability to federalize the National Guard. A person with plenary authority has absolute and limitless power over a particular issue - for instance, Congress has plenary authority over interstate commerce.

So, in essence, Miller is claiming that Trump, as president, has absolute power to deploy the National Guard wherever he wants, for whatever reason he wants, and that he does not believe that the Courts (or state governors) have the authority to stop him. This should, I would hope, sound alarm bells in every American's head.

Maybe we do live in a simulation. Someone should reboot Stephen Miller.

99% of what he's doing exceed his authority. Lower courts are reining him in right and left. Hopefully the Supreme Court will realize he is usurping their power--not to mention endangering our country--and shut him down.

Here's the interview posted by CNN. Seems either the clip in the OP is fake... or CNN is covering up.

It's the 2nd one. It's not fake. They "re-did" the interview segment.

Yeah, CNN edited the clip and is playing it off as "technical difficulties." Kinda puts paid to the idea that CNN is left-wing propaganda, eh?

There's enough reporting on it from multiple sources and enough versions of the original floating around that I'm confident he actually said that.

That hardly puts to rest that CNN is as left-wing as Fox is right-wing.

It seems doubtful that most Americans who want to see the job of deportation done, have any problem with Trump having plenary authority in this situation. As opposed to one monkey wrench after another being thrown into the process.

For starters, both Governors Pritzker and Newsome believe Trump will try to send the Guard into their cities to disrupt elections.
As a matter of fact, the Guard is authorized (illegally and unconstitutionally of course) to stay in California until Election Day.

Google said my question brought up 5 million links. Hmmm....

But this one, two governors, should be enough.

Whatever happened to all those critical thinking skills students were supposed to be learning? Gullibility will wind up hurting the gullible and those they love.

I'm not sure what plenary authority over National Guard deployments has to do with deportations.
