  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Another look at the moon landing.

No Dean is not more important than my beliefs, he confirms my beliefs & if Dean had gone to Antarctica and confirm the earth was a globe, I'm not sure whether I would have believed him or not. Probably not
Maybe.
But at the time you said that you would believe whatever Dean told you.
as my beliefs in a level earth are pretty strong.
Not that strong - a year ago you said it was a load of nonsense.

I don't know where my mind must have been at.
You were genuinely moved because you had watched Charles Duke's testimony. The one where he said that walking on the moon lasted 3 days; walking with Jesus lasts for a lifetime. You can't go back in time and change that reaction either; that is how you felt when you heard Charles talking about Jesus

It was a beautiful response to a lovely Christian testimony. Several of us said you showed courage and humility. You were pleased that this astronaut had found Jesus - the same Jesus that you worship.

Alas, that reaction didn't last and you have gone back to calling him, and others, liars and fakers. :(

In the 1960"s man was to supposed to ride in a rocket 200,000+ miles away from earth. But yet they could not even go 6 miles deep in the ocean.

How Deep Has Man Gone in the Ocean? - The Institute for Environmental Research and Education
The deepest that a human has ventured into the ocean is 10,925 meters (35,843 feet), achieved by Victor Vescovo in the Challenger Deep of the Mariana Trench. This solo dive, conducted in 2019, surpasses previous records and highlights the incredible engineering feats required to withstand the immense pressure of the deepest ocean environments.
A spacecraft only has to deal with 1 atmosphere of pressure compared to 1000 atmospheres at the bottom of the ocean.

So what Rob proved was the lack of curvature
How exactly did he do that? Please explain how the city was mostly hidden from the bottom up when they started, and as they got closer more of the city became visible.
What Rob documented is 100% consistent with what is predicted by the globe model, so he absolutely did confirm the earth's curvature.

Wrong- And Rob has certainly never stated this

Sorry - But this proves nothing.
Sure it does unless you want to call me a liar and that would not be nice of you. You wouldn’t call a brother in Christ a liar would you?
I commend you for this but it still doesn't convince me.
Because you are so entrenched in your conspiracy theory that you wouldn’t know the truth even if it bit you in the.……..you know where. You need to pray about it and read about what scriptures have to say about false teachers. You can’t fool me, I was there. Your buddies are fooling you and they were not even there. Go figure.

Incorrect. Everything I have stated regarding his observations and their consistency with the globe model is 100% correct
And Rob has certainly never stated this
Well duh  Rob was a flat earther. He would never say that his observations contradict his belief.
And the shoreline and the bottoms of the buildings are hidden by the earth's curvature. Bravo!

No that is due to atmospheric's.
-
Actually the atmosphere my play a small part. But the real reason is that at a distance closer objects are larger than objects further away. So I can take a 3x3" square cube and cover up a two story house in photographing these two objects if the 3x3" square cube is a foot or two from me and the two story home is several hundred feet away.

I post an example of this on a flat earth thread several years ago, but i can not remember which thread it was (it has been shut down.

So if a person is trying to photograph at a long distance, say the other side of a lake. The lake will basically have to have very little or no wave motion at all.

And now Apple Sky throws a magic buzzword into the discussion with no understanding of what it actually is supposed to mean, then tries to cover that by implying its a no brainer with the "doh" emoji.

Not if the photographer is taller than the 3x3 square cube.

I'm sure it was debunked then too.
So if a person is trying to photograph at a long distance, say the other side of a lake. The lake will basically have to have very little or no wave motion at all.
There could be 3m waves, but if the photographer is 1.8m tall standing on the deck of a boat which is 1.5m above the water, then nothing in the distance will be obscured by waves. Waves further away will not have any impact since they also appear smaller the further away they are. The most that can be obscured is 3m at the distant shore, not tens of meters as demonstrated by Rob Skiba's observations.

My response is for the benefit of others, since d taylor obviously has me on his ignore list.

I was forgetting the motion of the wave impact as mentioned by @d taylor , he is absolutely right.

What can I say, I can only state what I truly believe in.
My point is that you may truly believe in this now - but then, only a year/several months ago, you didn't.
THEN, that "true belief" was challenged - to the point where you asked God to help you to stick with it.
NOW, you've said 'sorry' to God for having said 'sorry' and asked for his help and have reverted to trashing the reputations of his children.

What was so important on that YouTube video that you would trust IT over God?

Well firstly, how can you understand things like "wave impact" when you say that you "can't get your head around" science and have previously asked the most ridiculous questions, like "is Australia upside down on a globe earth?"
I seem to remember this has happened before - months and months of ridiculous comments, pointless questions and mocking emojis and then you come up with something so profound that people think you have copied it out of a science textbook.
Secondly, why did you mark his post as "informative", instead of agreeing with it?

I Know but it really in the end went against my true beliefs.
