  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Following the tragic passing of Charlie Kirk, Christian artists have shared words of grief, prayer, and hope in Christ. Here are some of their heartfelt tributes. As more speak out, please add them to our ongoing conversations at Instagram, X, and Facebook.
Crowder
“My heart hurts. This world is broken. Erika Kirk posted this verse a couple of hours before she lost her husband Charlie: ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble’ (Psalm 46:1).”

Seventh Day Slumber
“We are praying for Charlie Kirk’s beautiful family. This is heartbreaking .”

Phil Wickham
“My heart is grieved and heavy. It’s difficult to process the evil and hatred in our country right now. I pray God’s comfort and peace over Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones. Jesus, it all feels like too much. All I know to do is lift my eyes to heaven and remember that one day every tear will be wiped away, and God will make all things new.”

Matthew West
“I’m sick to my stomach and heartbroken over the tragic loss of Charlie Kirk today. My family and I are praying for his wife, his children, and all who loved him. Charlie was a true patriot and a passionate follower of Jesus. May we honor his legacy by living and speaking the truth with the same boldness he demonstrated every day.”

Tauren Wells
“Senseless acts of violence, motivated by hatred, should provoke us to prayer and action. Our hearts and prayers go out to Charlie Kirk’s family, and I pray that the powers of darkness at work would be exposed and expelled by the power of Jesus Christ."

Point of Grace
“Charlie Kirk was an exceptional human being, wise and purpose-driven beyond his years. Brave. God and family first. He knew Jesus and the Holy Scriptures so well. He wanted to be remembered for his ‘courage in the faith.’ He will be. Our hearts are broken and grieving.”

Joel Vaughn
“Yesterday, Charlie Kirk was gunned down for having a differing opinion. It’s devastating for his wife and children, who now must live without him. I pray for his family, and I pray that we can learn to love our neighbors, disagree with civility, and follow Jesus’ command to love God and love one another.”

Ryan Ellis
“I am in total shock. RIP to a patriot. This is wild. I’m praying for peace and for the Kirk family, and for everyone who had to witness that horrific act. God help us.”

Michael Sweet
“I’m devastated that Charlie Kirk was killed. I’m sick over the fact that some are celebrating his death. No matter what you believe, why would anyone take joy in someone being murdered? I find comfort in God’s promises: that nothing can separate us from His love, and that through Jesus we have eternal life. Rest in peace, Charlie.”

Ledger
“Absolutely heartbreaking. Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk. Your bold faith, courage in Christ, and unwavering stand have left a profound mark on this generation. May we be inspired by your example to never shrink back, but to speak the truth in love.”

Matt Hammitt
“The enemy is working overtime to divide our nation politically, racially, and in every way he can—but our God will have the final word. May our hearts be bent in prayer for this nation and for the Kirk family today."

John Schlitt
“Such a needless tragedy... Welcome to your new heavenly home, Charlie Kirk.”

Rhett Walker
“Heartbreaking. No matter where you stand politically, violence is never the answer. This was pure evil. He was one of the only ones who would take any question, always with kindness. Pray for his wife and kids whose world has been flipped upside down. Pray for our country. Pray against evil. Pray for justice.”

Haven’t heard of any of these people before.
I think it's appropriate that I haven't heard of them, since I never heard of Charlie Kirk before he was assassinated.

All these Charlie Kirk threads might just motivate me to look up what Charlie Kirk actually did. Maybe I'll get around to it in a few days.

Such courage to take a popular stand!

I had to reread the article, then run it through ChatGPT to explain to to me, to even understand what the point of the article was supposed to be. That part of Evangelical subculture is speaking in incomprehensible jargon, even moreso since it became aligned with MAGA. I think that just shows the corner they have boxed themselves into, and why a demagogue like Trump is so appealing. The underlying logic of the movement is disintegrating. It no longer has much to do with an historical Jesus of Nazareth, it's just about worldly political power dressed up in vaguely spiritual Kayfabe.

There is absolutely nothing at all that is incomprehensible in that article. Christian musicians have publicly denounced the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk. The rest of your false assertions demonstrates to me your lack of understanding of the truth.

Good,” he said. “I don’t want you to follow me. I don’t want you to track my music. I don’t want you to come to my shows. I don’t want you to do any of that if you don’t do this one thing, and that is, follow Jesus Christ, the King of all kings, the Lord of all lords, the one who is, the one who is to come.”

This is the difference between entertainment and ministry and he’s on the wrong side of it in that statement.

Every time I hear about a Christian artist, it's for the wrong reasons.
Weird. Most times when I hear about a Christian artist, it's because they released a new song.

No. He is not.

Music is a ministry. It isn’t merely about worship and many hearts are moved through song. To say only followers of Christ are welcome is horrible. Imagine hearing the same from a pastor.
