Thank you for telling me what you can tell
I can, at times, be self-righteous, trying to show I am smarter than the others. So, you have a good chance of being right.
But I like to be able to actually get to know someone, so I can see what the person's real life is because of what they say they believe.
I do think that if you are going to say someone is false, then we need to give exact quotes and verified actions which support what we claim.
If we discuss specifics, then people can learn from how we evaluate, versus just taking our word for it . . . and not learning how to evaluate.
Also . . . maybe not for the purpose of your thread > I'll quickly say people might be very good at pointing at distant fakes, but they can not evaluate people they actually know. And whom they choose for marriage, among other items, shows this.
So, we need to learn how to evaluate, and not only put labels on ones we don't even know.
So - - do you wish to share in specifics how you have evaluated at least one of your people on your list?
And do you wish to share about how to detect someone you actually know, who is a fake, so you aren't fooled into marrying the person?? < like certain ones seem to tend to do, including in born-again church culture.
Wasn't implying you were being self righteous.
There is plenty of info on the internet about false teachers in general and specifically.
We all must study for ourselves.
I'm already married btw
I will add this since the New Testament does name names...
Exposing those who stray from the truth and naming them is done in the New Testament, in fact the apostle Paul and even John himself named a few of them in their epistles:
- Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme. ~ 1 Timothy 1:20
- This you know, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me, of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. ~ 2 Timothy 1:15
- And their word will eat as does a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus, who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. ~ 2 Timothy 2: 17-18
- Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. ~ 2 Timothy 2: 3:8
- For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. ~ 2 Timothy 4:10
- Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works: of whom be you ware also; for he has greatly withstood our words. ~ 2 Timothy 4:14-15
- I wrote to the church: but Diotrephes, who love to have the preeminence among them, receive us not. Why, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he does, prating us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither he himself receive the brothers, and forbids them that would, and cast them out of the church. ~ 3 John 1:9-10
- Woe to them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. ~ Jude 1:11
If the Bible names names, so can we.
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." Matt 7:15-20
"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isaiah 8:20
