  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Please no personal attacks.
So this isn’t you commenting after the assassinations in Minnesota…?

What happened between then and now that makes you saying it Ok, him saying it disgraceful and hateful, and me pointing it out a personal attack?

The rifle is an older model imported Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt action rifle wrapped in a towel, multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News. The location of the firearm appears to match the suspect's route of travel, the sources said.
The spent cartridge was still chambered and three unspent cartridges contained wording on them expressing what some law enforcement officials described as “transgender and anti-fascist" writing, according to preliminary information shared with agencies. It’s unclear what that means and authorities are still working to determine the meaning.
Early reports say weapon has been recovered with clues showing that trans ideology may be a factor. Time will tell.
I was wondering what that meant and now I'm still wondering, but I see you didn't make this up or necessarily get it from a whacko source.

Curious though, do cartridges often have ideological wording on them? Genuine question.

...Conservatives have been urging people to pull back on the hatred and violent rhetoric.
They have?
Or they have only been urging people on the left?

Cause I think there's been more than a few conservatives hoping for Civil War...if we are to believe their tweets.

No one said it was only on one side. But the majority of it is on one side, some are beginning to wake up and take action:

"Wednesday morning, Texas Scorecard, a conservative outlet, posted a recording of the history professor discussing the importance of organized resistance, saying 'without organization, how can anyone expect to overthrow the most bloodthirsty, profit-driven, mad organization in the history of the world, that of the U.S. government?'"

I WILL say that the left wing parts of the internet I attend to have really turned me off how they've reacted. I still political align with them, but their attitude about this is not one I share.

I find it fascinating that you seem to think you are aware of what "the majority" even means.

Is this one of those cases of Freedom of Speech and Acedemic repression the right has been talking about so much?

I mean, given this tiny quote, it seems like a statement of fact really.

It was a Republican who shot Hortman and her husband. A Republican that shot at Trump. A Republican that was waiting to shoot Trump. It was Republicans of a certain stripe who stormed the Capitol to - unsuccessfully - overturn an election, hang Mike Pence and shoot Nancy Pelosi.

I'll answer that with a question: where's the hatred and violence in saying that @Zaha Torte encourages and supports terrorism?
The big difference is that the pure hatred coming out of these college students and many other people on the Democrat liberal left have been documented and seen by millions of people to be using terroristic speech. So, the statement that Democrats support terrorism is believable. I have not seen ANY evidence that Zaha Torte has made any form of terroristic threats to anyone. So, your claim that Zaha Torte makes terroristic claims is false and falls on deaf ears.

Here are some real examples of the liberal left and their threats:

No one said it was only on one side.

That's not true. People on this board were arguing exactly that this morning.

Interesting. When I first read this, my eyes happened to skip over the part where it gave the venue for these comments (I assumed it was in a classroom), and I landed on this:

Wednesday morning, Texas Scorecard, a conservative outlet, posted a recording of the history professor discussing the importance of organized resistance, saying "without organization, how can anyone expect to overthrow the most bloodthirsty, profit-driven, mad organization in the history of the world, that of the U.S. government?"

...and I had to re-check things, because that sounded exactly like much of the rhetoric I've heard come out of the Right, especially the pro-2A Right, over the last 40 years.

Your reference point is a blog article from 16 years ago by who knows, showing signs from who knows where that people had 18-22 years ago about the person who was elected president 24 years ago, in an era where people were mad about the largest terrorist attack to have ever occured on US soil…?

The majority you don’t like is on one side. Not quite the same. As I pointed out earlier, you’re not exactly a “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander” kind of guy.

Sorry, wanting to kill someone is the same now as it was back then - evil and wrong. The liberal left has just taken hatred to a new height in recent years because they have lost everything good about themselves and now, they want someone to pay since they can't compete in the moral debating ring.

I’m not denying it’s wrong. Those signs are disgusting.

But if your most relevant example to the threats of the left are signs from two decades ago during a time of general political unrest, that’s hardly a recent, relevant pattern of behavior.

The whole rant about liberal left losing everything good about themselves, I don’t even know what that was about. That sounds like fanfic, not reality. Not worth my time as it’s more about your fantasy than objective reality.

This is what Charley was about. He helped young people to realize they were not alone in their thoughts. He taught them, and gave them the courage to speak their mind. Not to be intimidated into silence in our schools. Freedom of speech, and debate were encouraged, and what he did. This is what higher education had always been, he brought that back. That was Charley....The silencers will not silence him or what he started. Charlty did not "hate", he encouraged disgreement in debate. Using words, and ideas, not violence. May he rest in the Lord, and the Lord bring comfort to his wife and to his children in the coming days, months and years knowing who he really was.
I agree. Did you think I didn't?
