Considering the amount of suffering caused by the gutting of USAID, I think the US didn't get enough recognition for the good it did in foreign aid (including from me)
First they slander and malign the victim agency-- hyperbolized lies.
Then they go in for the kill.

The world’s richest nation decided to burn $0.8 trillion of food rather than it go to people who’d just waste it (by eating it).

And there’s folks here applauding this move.
And for the utilitarians amongst us, these aid programs also benefit our farmers and food concentrate manufacturers. Tariffs don't pay the farmers nor feed the hungry.

Interesting that the article fromMSN in the OP states $800 million while the article in The Rolling Stones, Esquire, and Reason have it at $800,000. Quite a difference.

What a witness.

Scripture does not say that giving to the poor is limited to churches and Christians.
What a witness.
It implies in Romans 13 that it can be a 'minister of God for your good'.
Which means law and order in the land in which you live.
The USA was blessed and has been a giving nation which in turn brings good will toward it.

But with the current president, the government is not the minister of good but cruelty and non-caring.
The government is not under Scriptural law.

It is under the will of the voters.
If the voters don't like it, they can change it.
That's as good as it gets on earth now.

The vast majority approve of the current policies.
If they don't, they get to change the administration next time around.

That's as good as it gets in a free republic on earth.

Aye, am seeing this as well.
What a great deal we got though, 500 tons of food for a measly $800,000, it’d be a shame to have to burn it, but priorities, one supposes.

Church and state are separate in this country. . .the state is not governed by any church.

I'm sorry, that's a horse manure of a response. This has nothing to do with the wall of separation, which frankly I'm getting tired of being a convenient excuse for why Christians shouldn't expect their government to do what is right in respect to the poor and needy. That wall seems to be pretty thin when it comes to having the 10 Commandments in classrooms or on government buildings, but suddenly when there are working single mothers trying to feed her kids, or when there is a serious problem of homelessness in our communities, that wall goes up and gets thick real fast.

This kind of blatant hypocrisy, double-talk, and imitating Pontius Pilate by symbolically washing our hands so we can pretend like they aren't covered in the blood of innocents as we engage in widespread complicity toward injustice and social evil is just not tolerable. It's dressing up on Sunday morning to praise God with all the enthusiasm we can muster, patting ourselves on the back, and then Sunday afternoon cursing out our neighbor and calling them every bad name in the book--and then having the audacity to say "I follow Jesus".

There are things Jesus says about people like us that do that. And it's not good.

There's no one keeping anyone from sending their own help, or forming Christian organizations to do so.
And with that kind of money, I say you have a special obligation to do just that.

As though it was ever mutually exclusive.

Either Christians are for their neighbors, or they aren't. Jesus doesn't give us middle ground.

The Church in America should be ashamed of herself. She's a harlot.

What a witness.
Yes.
Jesus said
Mat 25:40
“The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’

We, who are way wealthier than we think, need to care about the 'least of these' as God loves them, too.

A negative witness to unbelievers is "Me first, and let the food we paid for go to waste rather than send to the needy, Who cares about them."

Which means law and order in the land in which you live.
And USaid was not against the law. The current Supreme Court has allowed Trump to decimate the agency, and the Republican in Congress have allowed Trump to ignore that they have the power of the purse and authorized these programs.

But things will change.

The government is not under Scriptural law.
Oh, but I thought this was a 'Christian nation". Isn't that what the right likes to claim.

Everything is under a moral law of God, and will face judgement as to how they kept that law.

It is under the will of the voters.
If the voters don't like it, they can change it.
That's as good as it gets on earth now.
Hardly.

No it was not. They were flying the aircraft the same week. The ammunition o n and all the weapons are still being used by our enemies today

There was no election it was a takeover

And he is a horrible authoritarian, doing the exact opposite of what authoritarian’s. Returning power to the states and the people. Reducing the size of the federal government.

Yeesh he can’t even get that right

Controlled by one of the largest terror groups in that area. Armed by Biden

Under the terrorist armed and empowered by Biden those children will never know freedom, the girls you are worried about will go imeducated, used as cattle never even able to drive

Thanks to Joe Biden every child being abuse and raped is the direct result of his actions

Who knows perhaps they sent him a couple young girls to pet and sniff. You never know.
Interesting to catch propaganda from media not worth my time. Thanks.

Actually, no.

Around eight-in-ten Americans say the United States should provide medicine and medical supplies, as well as food and clothing, to people in developing countries. Roughly six-in-ten believe the U.S. should give aid that supports economic development and helps strengthen democracy in other nations.....
Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents are consistently more supportive of foreign aid than Republicans and Republican leaners. Still, majorities of Republicans say the U.S. should give developing nations medicine and medical supplies, along with food and clothing. And more than four-in-ten Republicans support aid meant to boost economic development and strengthen democracy.
The survey was conducted after President Donald Trump and his administration ended most activities of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
As to Trump's policies on immigration:

poll immigration.png

As for Trump:

180 days into Donald Trump's term

The president's net approval rating is -14%,
down 1.6 points since last week.
41% approve, 55% disapprove, 4% not sure
Last updated on July 19th 2025

No other president in modern times have had this low of an approval at this point in his term, except Trump in his first term.

Polling continues during a presidential term, so please cite evidence of this “vast majority” support you claim.

The voters had their say when they put them in office.

Everything else is just sounding brass and tinkling cymbal.
