OK, but the bathroom thing came up as a side issue. But the issue there involves safety, too, as well as sports records. The basic question is the same. Why should the president rule it out absolutely and without any exceptions. I agree that males should be kept out of women's sports as a general thing, but I also think that carefully monitored exceptions might be allowed if all participants are agreeable, all safety concerns met and no important records are at stake. Where does the President get the authority to horn in on something like that?
Ok. I just want to do what is fair. Men and women are different. That’s not bigotry. It’s biology.

Maybe trans people can make their own trans team? Would that be the fairest?

I don’t know.

And the trans woman's rights? Oh, right, her rights don't matter.

-- A2SG, are trans people second class citizens, or have they been moved down to third class by now....
Trans women are men. They will never be women. That’s biology.

Someone’s fantasy doesn’t trump biological reality.

Regardless, it’s off topic.

We're talking about gender here, not biology. They're two different things.

Someone’s fantasy doesn’t trump biological reality.
The only fantasies here are those who imagine roving bands of men dressing up as women to attack people in bathrooms.

Regardless, it’s off topic.
Trans people's rights are still part of the topic, even if we've moved away from the sports angle.

On that one, for my part, I leave any and all decisions to the ruling body of the sport itself. If they have no problem with trans people participating in the sport, then I have no need to tell them they have to have one.

-- A2SG, simple as that....

I do not accept extreme gender ideology and will not comment further.

There's nothing extreme about it. Gender is one thing, biology is something else. They're two different things.

Simple as that.

Okay then.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course. It doesn't even have to be factually correct.

-- A2SG, that's your right!

I can say the same about those who support trans ideology….it goes both ways….

Regardless, it’s off topic.

You could, sure. But do the facts support your opinion? Have you researched the issue as much as others have? What do you base your opinions on, exactly?

Let's see if they weigh the same.

Regardless, it’s off topic.
And yet, the conversation continues....

-- A2SG, seems to me the sports part of this topic was exhausted a while back....

I have nothing further to add.

I already made my position abundantly clear.

Peace

….because children often use public restrooms? A 12 year old girl shouldn’t be forced to share a bathroom or locker room with a man who claims to be a woman .
I asked earlier how you could tell. If you want a rule then how does it work?

Hmmm….ive been to Europe three times in 6 different countries. Never one saw an attendant. Wonder how common it is and in which countries?
Me too the only place I ever saw attendants was in Germany where you had to pay to get into the bathroom and the attendant was there to make sure you did. I also saw one in the Ritz in London.

Thinking of public toilets in Europe--which generally have attendants, I assumed a proper stall with partitions and a door which go clear to the floor, and a secure latch on the inside.
Not for me. I do not want women in a room that is private, where the only way out is through that room. I assume a proper toilet for men and women would be easy enough.

Ehhhh….i thought we were talking about trans? Cross dressing has been banned in some schools because it apparently offends others….its more of a fetish rather than so called identity.
I thought “wearing the ‘wrong clothes’” was some other culture‘s bugaboo.

Its immoral to force women to participate in their sexual perversion.
According to you. What else have you got? I'll buy the safety angle. That's a good argument, because many women in our society have been brought up to accept the real possibility of sexual abuse as "boys will be boys" and are fearful of being alone around them. I also buy the privacy argument, but the argument loses force when it is only applied to women. Still, the only real arguments against boys in the girls' room are practical and secular, and they are good arguments and we should pay attention to them. There is no credible moral argument.

The same thing applies to boys in girls' sports. There is a safety argument which is a good argument. The physical differences between men and women post a real danger in sports. Likewise, differences in physical ability pose challenges to record keeping. Again, those arguments are practical and secular and they are good arguments which we should pay attention to. There are no credible moral arguments.
