WILMINGTON, Delaware (Reuters) -The best-known member of Elon Musk's U.S. DOGE Service team of technologists once provided support to a cybercrime gang that bragged about trafficking in stolen data and cyberstalking an FBI agent, according to digital records reviewed by Reuters.

Reuters could not independently verify EGodly's boasts of cybercriminal activity, including its claims to have hijacked phone numbers or infiltrated law enforcement emails.

The FBI agent targeted by EGodly, who is now retired, told Reuters that the group had drawn law enforcement attention because of its connection to swatting, the dangerous practice of making hoax emergency calls to send armed officers swarming targeted addresses.

The cancellation of April Fools’ Day has left America’s satire industry in turmoil. Marko Elez, 25, who worked for a number of companies run by Elon Musk and was part of the billionaire’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) task force engaged in dismantling federal offices, resigned Thursday, a White House official told The Hill.

DOGE staffer who shared Treasury data now has more access to government systems​

The staffer is Marko Elez, a Department of Labor employee detailed to the DOGE entity within the White House, according to a Saturday court filing. It says the Labor Department is aware of four other agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), where Elez is also detailed or employed.

The court filing provides an accounting of the access that Elez and other DOGE employees have inside certain sensitive and secure databases.

Day care centers at Peterson Space Force Base and Fort Carson in Colorado are disenrolling some families and pausing waitlists amid staffing issues, the latest impacts of the Trump administration's hiring freeze throughout the federal government.

"Due to ongoing staffing challenges related to our adherence to current administration guidance and recent impacts from the hiring freeze the Main Child Development Center (CDC) is facing a critical shortage of qualified child care providers," a March 24 memo to families with infants at Peterson's day care center said, also stating that a classroom needed to be closed by April 11.

As a result of the staffing challenges, Peterson Space Force Base's looming closure of its infant classroom meant that eight families would have to be disenrolled, the March 24 memo said. It asked for volunteers to transfer to a preschool about 10 miles away from the base, where they can pay the same rates as they would have at the on-base CDC.

Colorado isn't the only place the child care shortages are being felt. Military.com reported late last month that, due to the hiring freeze and staffing issues, Hill Air Force Base in Utah had closed one of its two day care centers -- disenrolling 31 families in the process.

The presence of credentials in leaked "stealer logs" indicates his device was infected.

“I have no way of knowing exactly when Schutt's computer was hacked, or how many times,” Lee wrote. “I don't know nearly enough about the origins of these stealer log datasets. ‘Glaring red flag’: Treasury DOGE team discloses bank stock holdings​

Several former Treasury officials and government ethics experts said the disclosures raise ethics concerns.

Tom Krause, who is also the lead official for Treasury’s DOGE team, reported hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of shares in a wide range of financial companies, including those that provide services to the unit Krause oversees.

He and two other Treasury DOGE team members — Todd Newnam and Linda Whitridge— also reported owning shares of Intuit, the parent company of TurboTax, which has lobbied heavily against IRS Direct File, a program targeted for elimination by Elon Musk and DOGE.

Don Hammond, who previously served as Treasury’s fiscal assistant secretary, said there’s a wide range of banks and financial companies that would be “extremely problematic” for someone in that role to be invested in because they’re service providers to Treasury. Other categories of potential conflicts include large IT contractors and the financial institutions that have an interest in how Treasury operates its sale of government debt, he said.

“The DOGE Team at Treasury killed free tax filing software, is outsourcing foundational technical infrastructure, and firing the cops who keep our financial system safe from catastrophe,” [former Biden Treasury official] said. “They also have large holdings in the exact tax prep, government contracting and financial services companies that will profit from their actions.
