Recalcitrant Procrastinating Ape
I have observed that those with limited knowledge of evolution tend to think that evolution is about things getting "better", by which they seem to mean - often in a vague way - "more advanced", or "more complex". In the context of those flawed perceptions turning back into apes makes sense, thereby demonstrating the validity of GIGO - garbage in, garbage out.I'm a little curious about the question of turning "back into apes." Evolution does not go forward or backward.
For completeness I would be tempted add to this . ."and the range and character of traits available in the population". Otherwise, I agree with the others who reacted to your post - it is a clear and concise commentary on an oft-expressed wrong idea.It simply increases traits that prove adaptive. It can happen quickly, or it can happen extremely slowly, depending on the pressure from environmental change.
