  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Georgia has become the latest state to prohibit the participation of trans-identified males in women’s sports, as President Donald Trump has made fairness for female athletes a key part of his agenda.

Georgia’s Republican Gov. Brian Kemp signed Senate Bill 1 into law on Monday. Kemp’s approval of the measure comes after the Republican-controlled state Senate passed the legislation by a vote of 35-17, while the Republican-controlled House supported it in a 100-64 vote.

Votes in both chambers fell largely along party lines, with most support coming from Republicans and all opposition coming from Democrats. Two Democrats in the Senate broke with their party to vote for the legislation, as did three House Democrats.

There are many, many trans women in these states, most of whom you wouldn't know were trans unless they told you. So how does the government plan to enforce this law? Genital checks at the bathroom door?

The Olympics used to have a thing called a sex verification to confirm gender. It's not like such hasn't been done before.

And how exactly is that different from the current system, where in most states you have to get a signed letter from one or more doctors, physicians, or psychiatrists, verifying a change of gender, before your ID card and birth certificate's gender marker can be changed?

Never having competed in the Olympics, have never undergone it. I suspect more is required than a note from your doctor, otherwise there would be ways around it, and back when the Olympics had prestige, some countries would have tried to go that route to win medals.

Is it allowed on CF to ask why you're opposed to it? Let's find out.
