The evidence is the creation itself - along with scientific observations, supported by God's Word. You did watch the video, right? If someone wants to describe a baby they can make specific descriptions about what they see and why that is relevant... I don't think a description of the complexity and beauty of nature in any way "speaks for itself" as conclusive evidence for a specific creator.
Can you explain how?
My problem with all of these sorts of threads is they're less about talking science, and more about a certain sect of American Christians or a brand of American Christians who feel the need to defend their wholly singular and insular worldviews from imagined enemies, all to bolster their own egos and pride.
Define "historical truth", because it ain't anything like that that is on-topic on this sub-forum in the bible.Of course, it's goes both ways as well. And I try not to slip into this ahistorical fallacy that prevents people from seeing any historical truth within the Bible.

If you weave that much in traffic you will get pulled over.As per what I said previously and in what was implied there about the presence of paradigms, the definition of "historical truth" will depend on recognizing the valuable aspects of the historical range of Historiography(-ies).
I agree, but the historical books of the OT aren't relevant to this thread so it doesn't matter how you interpret them.Obviously, the ancient written narratives in the Bible aren't constructed of today's more scientifically oriented approach to the craft of writing history.
So, those narratives are at times written off wholesale by those in the Minimalists position. I think that's an error.
That's very nice, Joseph, but what does it have to do with the theory of evolution? The evidence is the creation itself - along with scientific observations, supported by God's Word. You did watch the video, right?
I could describe what I see when I watch an ultrasound video, but only as an invitation for one to view themselves. If watching God's most precious creation, a baby moving in his Mother's womb for example, doesn't move one to praise Almighty God for His massive intelligence and tender hearted delight in creating one's in own His image - I can only grieve and keep praying.
God bless!

Has zero to do with 'American'. It's all just praise for our mutual Creator (yours and mine) and confidence in HIS superiority - from His adopted children through His Son - literally around the world. My problem with all of these sorts of threads is they're less about talking science, and more about a certain sect of American Christians or a brand of American Christians who feel the need to defend their wholly singular and insular worldviews from imagined enemies, all to bolster their own egos and pride.

The fact that God deliberately chooses broken vessels - like me and my brothers and sisters in Christ - who are profoundly grateful to being useful while deeply flawed - shouldn't offend. One's argument isn't really with us for that reason - but with *their* Creator.
Jesus is clear that He is a rock of offense to most - as He once was to us - so we are commanded to extend the same mercy, grace, compassion, love - in TRUTH - to all.
God bless!
Jeremiah 9:23-24 NIV
"Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know Me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the Lord."

Really?
Really. All you are telling us is that God created the world and everything in it and we can know that by observing the marvelous designs of nature. "The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament sheweth his handiwork." I don't see anything in there about evolution, one way or the other. I suppose you might say that pointing out the glories of creation encourages the study of evolution, but that's all.*scratching head*

There is nothing about this thread that has a single bit to do with the book of Judges or Kings, or the other OT books called the "Historical Books." The whole thing is about the first dozen chapters of "Genesis", nothing more, nothing less, and there is no need to do be concerned about ancient historical documents when considering that text.If you don't see the lunacy in what you've just said, you're in need of more education than I thought.
Well Hallelujah, Warden, ROCK on! Won't stop me from praying for ya!And you're doing nothing to disprove what I said.

Believe it or not - I was a harder nut to crack than you. That's why I luvs ya!
Butcha know? God just keeps chipping... chipping... chipping...
But it's still not clear what you are trying to get us to believe. The existence of God is not seriously disputed in this forum. Some believe, some don't, but since it has no direct bearing on the validity of the theory of evolution, the matter is left to the conscience of the individual poster. Maybe you should find another forum where the theism/atheism debate is actively pursued.Well Hallelujah, Warden, ROCK on! Won't stop me from praying for ya!

They didn't quite get finished with the "edging" before the asphalt plant closed for the winter, so we've been driving through 2" deep edges for months. That's funny.
This thread, like so many on this sub-forum is about the creation story in the first two chapters of Genesis. It hasn't even been made about "The Flood" or "The Fall", just the creation (sticking so wonderfully to the topic of the sub-forum). It's not about how historians treat ancient writing, nor about the historicity of some king of Judah. It's not about whether some of the more questionable main characters are historical (David, Moses, etc.). It is literally about if the natural world is actually natural.Unfortunately, there are properties in all of this sort of study that are inherently connective. There's a lot you haven't studied or been told. Not that I expect you to have all of this historical awareness since Physics is your main bag. And I understand that and respect that fact from that practical angle.
