Per the report, Trump has been inundated with pleas from lobbyists "for the agriculture, construction, manufacturing, retail and technology industries" to make further carveouts from his tariffs, "with many arguing that there are some products they must import simply because they are too expensive or impractical to produce in the United States."

Home Depot, Target, and Walmart are among the retail giants telling Trump they cannot maintain their current prices if they don't get some kind of relief from tariffs.

He's a flipflopping farce promising to be "very nice" to the Chinese after whining about how they are ripping us off.

Wherever this ends up, we can compare it to the status ante quo.

We all understood that this was a negotiation and tariffs were just bargaining chips.
Those of us who know how Trump works anyway.
It remains to be seen how this will work out

Are you sure the tariffs weren't going to generate money to help pay off the debt?

Or fix the opioid crisis?

Or restore US manufacturing?

Or stimulate the economy?

The goal still is to stimulate manufacturing in the US. The other things you mentioned are worthwhile goals. Again, it remains to be seen how this will work out.

...and in the process, his "negotiating" tactics are undermining trust in the US. The US is no longer seen as a safe place to invest or do business....all do to the actions of the president.
