  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Because I am always asked to back my claims and you should as well.
Are you going to claim that would somehow change your opinion?
Well I can guarantee your baseless claim will be ignored.
Do you not know what USAID's function was?
Yes! Few legit needed programs and many insane money laundering schemes for corrupt politicians.

Not true. 90% of those sent to El Salvador have no known criminal record in the US or abroad.

ETA: the topic, once again, is TARIFFS, Tit-for-Tat
"All quiet on the Western front"

Where are we with this? The US paused tariffs for 90 days so they can work with seventy countries they claim want to come to the table. Let that marinate. Over seventy countries in 90 days is like trade agreement speed dating. There's going to be another pause, or agreements that are probably no different than the existing agreements we already have with those countries.

Al Jazeera is not perfect, but it is reasonably trustworthy.

If I had posted Fox as a news source most liberals here would have choked on that and I do not accept Al Jazeerra as a trust worthy source for political discussion in this country. What does reasonably trustworthy really mean? Sometimes, maybe they might get it right?

China Faces 245% Trump Tariff (although it seems to be more a calculation than any change)

The White House said China is facing up to a 245 percent tariff on imports to the U.S. "as a result of its retaliatory actions," as the trade war between the world's two largest economies continues to heat up.

The top potential tariff was referenced in a fact sheet published by the White House late on Tuesday. It accompanied an executive order signed by President Donald Trump that launched an investigation into the "national security risks posed by U.S. reliance on imported processed critical minerals and their derivative products." [short answer: it's bad and there's virtually nothing we can do about it.]

[White House says the 245 is a maximum that some products could face.]

Electric vehicles, for example, have outstanding Section 301 tariffs of 100 percent dating back to the Biden Administration, meaning these products would face a 245 percent rate in total.

You simply state "DOGE" and you are going to try to put down my linking an actual article? Pathetic.
You question actual an legitimate audit and post a foreign biased news source as gospel truth. Not a very good stance.

May as well make it one gazillion percent. "The ball is in China's court. China needs to make a deal with us. We don't have to make a deal with them," said a statement from Trump read out by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.". I am quite sure behind the scenes the US is reaching out to China.
