The trouble with end times believers is that so many of them seem to be trying to hurry it along.

Certain ones may seem to do so, I know.

Easily, Hans. Easily.
Seems likely. It's supposed to be some book of prophecy or something filled with all sorts of imaginative horrors, but I found it dull and stopped reading.

That's interesting. When I read it for the first time, and the 11th time, I found it to be highly engaging and intriguing. I guess it just depends on what you're looking for when reading it.

Like a laissez faire policy towards Netanyahu.

I gave it another try. The opening was dull and I couldn't see the point of it and lost interest. As for what I was looking for, I wasn't looking for anything.

I didn't say that, did I? Sort of like I didn't say that I'm a Dispensationalist, but somehow everyone assumes otherwise by default.

You gave it another try? I'm guessing you made it to chapter 4 and gave up? :dontcare:

Halfway through chapter 2. I did not find John of Patmos's correspondence with those churches to be interesting.

I didn't say that you said that. I don't think you are a Dispensationalist, either, though you seem to give them more credit for moral and intellectual integrity than I would.

I'm not intending for my question here to sound resentful because it's not, but where have I spoken lately about the modern nation of Israel (or even about Netanyahu) and given them 'credit' for much of anything?

If you're referring to some other past, historical nuance about ancient Israel, then by all means feel free to clarify.

I'm not accusing you of anything. I don't remember that you have made any comment on the Israel/Hamas situation. However, it remains a fact that our accepting and supportive policy towards Israel's actions in Gaza is driven more by Christian Zionists and their lurid Dispensationalist end-times fantasies than by American Jewry.

That I know, BCP. I also know that a few of you out there would like to see me may a solid political statement and firmly come down one way or the other, for the sake of delineating theological clarity on the terrible issues involved. The thing is, I presently 'see' the modern nation of Israel as a theological enigma, all the while being aware of various viewpoints different parties, both political and theological, advocate for and spar over. For the moment, I'll hold my political tongue about Zionist ventures and interpretive paradigms regarding its full nature in the world political stage and its ethics (or possible lack thereof).

Moreover, I don't like to attempt to do much political arm-chair quarter-backing on horrendous issues regarding Jewish people which persist in our present day.

A music reference, by way of a true crime book. I don't think you want to know the rest.

Lol. :) Fair enough. However, if the book of Revelation just happens to, in some significant way, be true, I would think most sane people would want to "know the rest."

Instead of quoting the lyrics that fed the insanity, I'll quote some that references it after the fact:

I got the revolution blues, I see bloody fountains
And ten million dune buggies comin' down the mountains
Well, I hear that Laurel Canyon is full of famous stars
But I hate them worse than lepers and I'll kill them in their cars

Reading about the "interpretation" of Revelation that lead to the events referenced in those lyrics did not want me to "know the rest" or take it seriously.
