  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What does this have to do with chickens and the bird flu?
what fake solutions might he be pushing, mind you this is just conjecture compared to things like the firing the guys in charge of containing it. I thought trump bring the prices magickally day one, where is that happening? And food prices and otehr things he promised, insead he's increasing prices over idiocy.

You know I've been saying this a while now. Only leftists seem to be the ones thinking Trump was supposed to be able to do this day one or he's a failure. Rhe rest of us knew what he meant and we are willing to give him some room and time. After all we didn't get here in a day. We aren't getting out of it in a day either.

Is he really a failure because he couldn't do it on day one?

No HE'S the one that thought that, he blamed biden for it not going, said they go down price day one, weird that none of it has happened.

I would also consider it a failure as he's doing nothing to fix it.

I consider the Trump Administration to be wildly optimistic about its chances of success but things are “getting done”.
Trump is a bit of an odd mix of Carter (notorious micromanager) and the Great Delegater, Reagan, (set policy and let underlings make it happen.)

Trump seems to want to set policy but also wants his ideas implemented without too much change (as if to fit within existing law regulating the Executive Branch, or to garner some of that sweet, sweet glory that would he could bask in, if one of his schemes ideas is actually good enough to achieve both aims.)

I wish him well, I truly do!
I don’t think that President Trump is evil, or bad.
Everybody liked Al Czervik (Rodney Dangerfield) when he bought Bushwood (Caddyshack 1980). For many of the same reasons that many seem to like in Trump; rich, bold, brash, larger-than-life, speaks his mind…witty (after a fashion), “knows-best”, (as evidenced by being “rich”).

Now this is me, and not everyone is the same. But whenever I had a new job (and I've changed companies a fair few times over the years), I made sure that my first few weeks were impressive. I had no problem working late and coming in on the weekend if necessary to make sure that what was needed to be done got done. But...https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/09/trump-golf-trips

'In 2017, he spent four of the first seven weekends immediately after his inauguration golfing in Florida; this year the tally is already at six.'

Again, this is me, but I personally think that running the largest country on the planet is kinda important and would keep someone pretty busy from sunup to sundown. I like golf and I squeeze in a few games every year. But even now retired I'd struggle to get a family thumbs up playing 6 out of 7 weekends. Notwithstanding the time it takes the chopper to get him to Andrews and the two hours flight time to Florida and the extra cargo plane for the motorcade and the umpteen security staff and local police and road closures etc. Then everything back on the return journey.

The only thing he's fixing is his handicap.

Even as a president, Mr Trump probably does a lot of “the people’s business” out on the links. Ike was a duffer too, (Kennedy had back problems; Nixon had 12 handicap; Ford had some trouble staying upright; Carter was too busy ruining/running the country; Dutch liked his horsies; HW…I dunno, Slick Willy knew his way around the Caddyshack, W could but didn’t; Obama WAY TOO MUCH!; Hizzonor, second to no-one; Uncle Joe, I didn’t pay attention).

But yeah, loads of deals are probably being done on his “weekends”, good thing they have the Secret Service there to sweep for bugs, huh?

'A beautiful thing': Trump brags egg prices have 'come down a lot' — despite them soaring

“You couldn’t buy bacon, you couldn’t buy anything, and also, I inherited a situation with eggs,” Trump said. “The price of eggs was through the roof. Well, now the price of eggs has come down a lot.”

“It’s all coming down. It’s all a beautiful thing,” Trump proclaimed.

Wednesday morning, The Associated Press reported, “US egg prices increased by an average of 10.4% last month, Consumer Price Index shows.”

“Egg prices have soared nearly 59% compared with a year ago, and is by far the highest inflated price on the Consumer Price Index report,” Fox9, a Fox affiliate, added.

So why did you mention a so called anti-Vaxer? Is he somehow against vaccinating chickens?
Yes.

RFK Jr. against vaccinating poultry for bird flu, says it could turn ‘flocks into mutation factories’

"All of my agencies advise against vaccination of birds because if you vaccinate with a leaky vaccine, in other words, a vaccine that does not provide sterilizing immunity, that does not absolutely protect against the disease, you turn those flocks into mutation factories," he told Sean Hannity in a Fox News interview.

All President Trump has to do is slash another 100,000 federal jobs, and he will be able to give tax breaks to the rich middle class, that will offset the deficit by 0.00005% 20% ! Then all of our grocery cost woes will magically go away.

Trump’s 2025 tax proposals primarily aim to extend and expand the tax cuts introduced in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), which significantly benefited high-income individuals. Here’s how wealthy Americans stand to gain:

From ChatGPT:

1. Extension of Lower Tax Rates for the Wealthy

  • The 2017 TCJA lowered the top individual income tax rate from 39.6% to 37%. If Trump's plan extends these cuts, high-income earners will continue benefiting from this lower rate.
  • Without an extension, this rate is set to return to 39.6% in 2026, which would mean higher taxes for the wealthiest individuals.

2. Benefits from Business and Investment Income

  • Pass-through deductions: Wealthy business owners of partnerships, S corporations, and LLCs receive a 20% deduction on their income. Many high-income individuals use pass-through entities to lower their taxable income.
  • Capital gains and dividend tax rates: The Trump tax plans generally aim to keep capital gains taxes low, benefiting wealthy individuals who earn significant income from investments.

3. Estate Tax Cuts for the Ultra-Rich

  • The 2017 tax law doubled the estate tax exemption from $5.5 million to $11.2 million per person (adjusted for inflation, it's now around $13.6 million). This allowed wealthy families to pass down more wealth tax-free.
  • If extended, this tax break would continue shielding large inheritances from taxation.

4. Corporate Tax Benefits (Which Primarily Benefit the Wealthy)

  • The corporate tax rate was cut from 35% to 21% under the TCJA. While this benefits corporations directly, it also benefits wealthy shareholders and executives.
  • If Trump further cuts corporate taxes, high-net-worth individuals with large stock holdings would see higher after-tax profits.

5. Potential New Tax Cuts for the Wealthy

  • Trump has floated additional tax breaks, including:
    • Eliminating taxes on tips and overtime pay, which, while benefiting workers, would also lower taxes for wealthy business owners in the hospitality and service industries.
    • Eliminating taxes on Social Security benefits, which would also help wealthy retirees who receive Social Security.

Conclusion

Trump’s proposed tax policies would primarily benefit the rich by keeping lower top tax rates, maintaining estate tax exemptions, preserving corporate tax cuts, and protecting investment income from higher taxation. Critics argue these policies increase income inequality and contribute to the federal deficit, while supporters claim they spur economic growth.

After 4 years of telling us how great things were and how stupid we were for complaining about the cost of groceries, suddenly January 20th grocery prices became a concern

Well, they are in fact continuing to go up. It's 10 dollars for a dozen eggs where I'm at. Hopefully the country won't go into recession, or we will have to come up with new ways to blame Biden.

And Biden can't be blamed for this either:
