  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So far, at least nine (now ~40) (now ~160) judges, including Trump appointees, have called a halt to Trump executive actions

It is rather surprising that you are unable to understand something for what it says or does not say.
It's what you are not saying is what I see as the problem. Not just with you, but with a significant number of people who support Trump.

Yeah. I have a problem. With people not calling out Trump when he lies to them. That's pretty easy to understand, isn't it...?

Did you 'call out' Biden here when he pardoned his son after claiming, on national TV, that he would not? If so, maybe you could post that here....I won't hold my breath BTW.

No that that has anything whatsoever to do with the inability of people to call out Trump for lying (looks like we're back to the schoolyard "Sir, you can't blame me because he did it too sir!') I'm on record as decrying the whole system of pardons and Biden in particular for pardoning his son. The whole process stinks to high heaven. So yeah, I called him out. Because he was wrong. And I'll say it again. He was wrong to do it. He lied when he said he wasn't going to.

I expect better. Whether you do or not is your call.

Numerous federal district judges around the country have blocked major portions of Trump’s early agenda — but Supreme Court showdowns loom.

That trend reached a crescendo Friday when U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols — a Trump appointee — blocked a plan by Trump and Elon Musk to put 2,200 USAID employees on leave, part of a rapid-fire effort to dismantle the foreign aid agency. Hours later, a federal judge in New York blocked Musk and his allies from accessing sensitive Treasury records, citing a risk of improper disclosure or hacking. The ruling by U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer, an Obama appointee, was the most sweeping of its kind so far.

In some cases, judges are voicing distress and even visceral fury as they stand in Trump’s way.

“It has become ever more apparent that to our president, the rule of law is but an impediment to his policy goals,” said U.S. District Judge John Coughenour, a Seattle-based appointee of Ronald Reagan, as he blocked Trump’s birthright citizenship policy. “The rule of law is, according to him, something to navigate around or simply ignore.”

[Othes:]
  • blocked Trump’s effort to implement a blanket freeze on billions of dollars in federal spending.
  • halted a government-wide program encouraging thousands of federal workers to resign.
  • block Treasury officials from sharing details of the government’s massive payment system — accessed by allies of Musk — with anyone outside the department.
  • blocked the implementation of Trump’s order to transfer transgender women inmates to men’s prisons.
  • blocking Trump’s birthright citizenship order.
  • barred the Trump administration from disclosing the names of FBI agents who worked on Jan. 6 cases
I don’t see how they can block the DOGE employees from accessing treasury records if they’ve been cleared by the government to access them. It’s my understanding that the DOGE employees had to undergo the same vetting process as any other government employee to access sensitive records.

It is not particularly hard to go to the search option on the forum, put in a search for all posts by Bradskii, and search for any that have "pardon" in it. And we quickly find:

Most definitely. I thought it was obvious, but I'll state it again. I believe that pardoning people is an affront to the judicial system. Whoever is being pardoned, whether they are a 70 year old grandad or a young Proud Boys thug and whoever is doing the pardoning, whether it is Obama, Biden or Trump. Especially when it's obviously a political act.
This wasn't buried in posts from long ago or anything; if you perform the search I noted above, the above post is (as of right now) the 6th one in the list. It really wasn't hard to find.

Go check it yourself. Not that you need to. There's a post just north of this one where I again said what I think. However, my problem, as it were, still stands.

So he generically condemns pardons; big deal, so do I. I still don't see where he condemned Biden for the egregiousness of pardoning his son; the pardon simply screams NEPOTISM.

Not my job to fact check you; if you wrote it you can find. Several times I have reposted things people claimed I did, or did not, say. No reason you can't do the same.

It's already been shown to you and as I said, I've specifically repeated my position to you. Apart from the fact that it's completely irrelevant to what I'm pointing out. These 'Sir, he did it first' school kid arguments only serve to highlight the lack of a reasonable response.

I've made my point. It stands.

Oh my word - how many times does he have to say he disagrees with Biden using pardons?

When are you going to answer the question he put to you?

Personally, if I were Biden - I would have pardoned my son out of fear of what was coming at him under the next mob!

It seems we have a bunch of social media tinfoil hatters being appointed to positions of power!

Wow - what a 'whose who in the tinfoil hat zoo'!

Pam Bondi's got DOJ and Kash Patel the FBI. Both are the "2020 election was stolen" types. Pam has publicly accused Hunter Biden of the widely debunked Ukraine conspiracy theory.

Truth and facts and reality don't seem to matter to this administration - not one bit.

I would have pardoned my son to protect them from future lynching by this mob!

‘They do not intend to comply’: Trump admin ‘will not produce’ agency head for court-ordered testimony, plaintiffs say

Attorneys at the Justice Department’s Civil Division said they “will not produce” Charles Ezell, the acting director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) U.S. District Judge William Alsup responded swiftly, scheduling a mandatory status conference for Thursday afternoon to address the matter.

Judge orders Trump administration to reinstate thousands of fired employees at VA, Defense Department and other agencies

The preliminary injunction issued from the bench by US District Judge William Alsup requires the departments of Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Defense, Energy, Interior and Treasury to rehire the employees. The judge said that he might extend the order to cover other federal agencies at a later time.

Alsup, an appointee of former President Bill Clinton, said he was making the ruling because he believes the Office of Personnel Management unlawfully directed the agencies earlier this year to lay off the probationary employees, who generally have been on the job for less than a year.

“The court finds that Office of Personnel Management did direct all agencies to terminate probationary employees with the exception of mission critical employees,” he said, rejecting arguments from the Justice Department that OPM merely issued “guidance” to the agencies that then led to the firings.

Apparently OPM didn't comply

Alsup castigated a Justice Department attorney arguing on behalf of the Trump administration for submitting “sham” documents and “stonewalling” efforts to gather facts and testimony, incensed that the acting director of OPM, Charles Ezell, refused to testify in court Thursday as the judge had previously ordered.

“You will not bring the people here to be cross-examined,” the judge said. “You’re afraid to do so, because … it would reveal the truth."

[Transparency, ladies and gentlemen.]

In a sworn court declaration filed Feb. 26, Ezell asserted that “OPM did not direct agencies to terminate any particular probationary employees based on performance or misconduct, and did not create a ‘mass termination program.’"

[After the judge insisted he testify] The Justice Department responded by withdrawing his court declaration, saying Ezell “lacks specific knowledge of disputed issues of fact” and would not be taking the stand. [Oops, he unswears that statement!]

[As for whether OPM did or didn't direct agencies...]

“Regarding the removal of the probationary employees, again, that was something that was directed from OPM,” [chief human resources officer] DiMartini told IRS employees in a town hall last month. “And even the letters that your colleagues received yesterday were letters written by OPM, put forth through Treasury, and given to us. … I cannot explain to you why this has happened. I’ve never seen OPM direct people at any agency to terminate.” [She has since been placed on leave.]

When are you going to answer the question he put to you?
When he produces his statement that he condemned Biden's pardon; not a generic 'pardon's are bad' comment. Big difference. It's a 'put up or shut up' moment. So far he has failed.

Why does he have to trawl through old records to prove what he is telling you now?
Why are you being so pedantic about this - and not answering the same questions I'm putting to you?
Do you really think Hunter would have got justice under the current regime of the DOJ and FBI's Big Lie adherents? (1) These people believed in the widely discredited Hunter - Ukraine theory. It's time to respect this thing we downunder call "The truth."

Footnote 1. That's not my phrase - it's what the Aussie ABC calls the stolen election conspiracy theory.

I find my quotes/statements in less than a minute; so can he.

He answers my questions, I answer his. He shouldn't have to use an intermediary to do it for him.
