Throwing out hypothetical scenarios is just a distraction from the perverse absurdity of Trump suppossedly celebrating a cancer survivor despite the fact the GOP's spending bill in Congress cuts research into childhood cancers.
Cutting waste and making things more efficient benefits will reap benefits. To me it seems it doesn't matter how much good Trump does, there will always be those who try and demonize him.

13-year-old cancer survivor earns standing ovation as he becomes Secret Service agent during Trump speech
DJ Daniel, 13, was told he had 5 months to live 6 years ago

A 13-year-old boy who survived cancer named DJ Daniel stole the show during President Trump’s address to Congress on Tuesday night when the president introduced him to the audience and officially swore him in as a member of the Secret Service.

"Joining us in the gallery tonight is a young man who truly loves our police," Trump told the crowd. "His name is DJ Daniel is 13 years old, and he has always dreamed of becoming a police officer. But in 2018, D.J. was diagnosed with brain cancer. The doctors gave him five months at most to live. That was more than six years ago."

Daniel received a standing ovation from a majority of the crowd although some Democrats were seen on camera sitting at various times while Trump was speaking about the 13-year-old.

Trump explained that Daniel and his dad, who was in the crowd and held him up at one point during Trump’s remarks, have been on a "quest" to make his dream of becoming a police officer come true and explained that he has been made an honorary member of local police departments.
Trump then surprised Daniel with the news that his dream was becoming a reality on an even bigger stage.

"Tonight, DJ, we're going to do you the biggest honor of them all," Trump said. "I am asking our new Secret Service Director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States."

Curran then walked over to Daniel and presented him with a customized Secret Service badge.

"Thank you, DJ," Trump said after the crowd started chanting the young boy’s name.

Honestly I find the absolutely disgusting for the Trump admin to use this poor kid as a prop, when the Trump et al literally cut funding for child cancer research. I mean how low can one get?

It's a shame they didn't have signs for that. Let children live! Fund Medicaid--save lives."

My child actually died of cancer and I don't care who you are if your not a psychopath this boy and his story of overcoming cancer is heartwarming and uplifting.

If this child can, against all odds, beat cancer then there's nothing we as a nation can't overcome.

If this child can be a symbol of that then maybe for him it made the pain a little more meaningful to help the rest of us learn how to persevere with hope in God and hope in a future that can dream big.

If we can't come together over such messaging, over such pleas for national healing and unity in making sure all our children have the kind of future they deserve, then what are we and where are we going really? Do we want to be a nation together or are we just waiting for some Democrats to start shooting more Republicans?

As far as Trump cutting children's cancer research I haven't done any looking into it but even as a parent who lost a child to cancer I'm not at all worried about it.

We've probably just stopped more orgies from occurring on our dime, in empty buildings we throw millions into for no earthly reason. I'd rather save our country from the national debt for a minute so our nations children won't be starving in the next great depression.

It's not like people are going to stop privately funding cancer research... It's actually the one thing that seems to get a large amount of private funding, we can do less government funding in areas that have positive funding sources for goodness sakes.

We need to concentrate on doing what's necessary to government, and make sure we are doing that extremely well. The public treasury isn't an infinite source of money, it's definitely finite in nature.

Edit to add:

So people know I am not embellishing I mentioned losing both my daughter and my dad to cancer in this post made years ago:

I am so sorry about your son.
We are concerned about $880 billion on Medicaid cuts which would hurt our poorest, most vulnerable children.

The Republican House budget resolution currently under consideration instructs the House Energy and Commerce Committee to cut at least $880 billion in costs through 2034 - not to cut Medicaid for the nations poorest children. There's a big difference.

It's also a distraction to ignore the point that was made that the program being cut has saved ZERO children's lives, and is lightyears behind in regards to advancements being made in the private sector.

In the private sector, the dollars flow like giant waterfalls. We're talking multitudes of Trillions of dollars wrapped up in US health/medicine.

US health/medicine has close to the same amount of money as the total United States federal budget. It's 6 trillion Vs. 4 trillion.

<not for debate> If you are able to look into what was done to cure all forms of cancer prior to the cures being made illegal in the usa by federal laws paid for by the druglords, you will be beyond flabbergasted and extremely angry that the government and corporations and medical people allowed such a tragedy to not only continue but to grow immensely beyond all boundaries and for the purpose of more power and more money and covering up the truth.
A pure simple true publication from a century ago almost tells how nutrition the cancer answer was recognized by licensed ama doctors and health care nurses and administrators and common folk all loving how wonderful it was to not be afraid of the troubles - they were instead joyful and hopeful and relieved to be healed, similar today to the places on earth where the healing is still being accomplished - places of happiness and joyousness and life abundantly in truth ; not at all like the massive deadly fatal coverup in the usa by the politic and medical controllers.

And to protect trillioooons of dollars, the lies and deceptions multiply without number.
I think the people lying/ complaining the loudest are the Socialists. The Socialists are kicking and screaming right now! This is what we're dealing with.

...Their dreams being washed away, before their very eyes.

I meet a few people a week. I have no idea if one , two, a lot, or none of them, are so-called socialists, officially or unofficially.
I don't have a clue if anyone or many or few on the forum, members or visitors , are socialists or not. It doesn't matter as far as I know.

Perhaps there's something to it they would like to tell us about. I invite the socialists here to teach us something.

Are you familiar with the South San Francisco Biotech Hub? The South San Francisco biotech hub has an economic output of $133.5 billion, which supports over 250,000 jobs. biotechnology is a key part of cancer research and treatment.

...Sooo, why do we need the government involving itself with cancer research, when one city alone is invested so deeply..? Especially considering the Boston/Cambridge area has an even larger biotech hub?
Those biotech companies receive grants and subsidies from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). They also rely on academic research that is funded by the NIH.

The South San Francisco Biotech Hub has received $4 billion dollars from the NIH and Boston Cambridge $5.4 billion.

It's called decorum. The very thing democrats complain about Trump not having. The least they could have done was clap for this young man's inspirational story.
I think Democrats are coming around to the idea that decorum in politics is dead.
If the roles were reversed and it was republicans not clapping for a cancer survivor, would you have a problem with them saying it was because it was political theater?
Not at all. As I said, using children as political props has always felt slimy, no matter who does it.

Most of which isn't spent on basic research, which is why public money is needed. That's how innovation actually happens, for the most part. Public money seeds basic research, which in turn leads to private companies actually implementing the results of that research.

How about Let children Live! Abortion stops a beating heart!

Not happening and not true. This is little more than Propaganda that people have bought into and believe if they repeat it enough, low information voters will believe it also.

It's been reported and stated numerous times - but completely ignored for the lie to be repeated.
I think Democrats are coming around to the idea that decorum in politics is dead.
They killed it completely on Tuesday.

Those who chose to put hatred for the President over supporting a sick child are a picture of why their party is crumbling around them.
