So when Democrats give blanket pardons to people like General Milley and Anthony Fouci, and Hunter Biden, it is all good
I haven't seen much approbation of Biden's action. But the situations aren't parallel.

Nobody is saying this.
Due to forum rules, I cannot bring up conversations on other threads. But on the topic of Biden's pardons, hers are some statements made by Liberals. I will not cite them to protect their anonymity.

"God bless him for protecting these individuals of goodness, integrity, and courage."

"Warranted when certain members of Congress have an unhealthy obsession with investigating Biden family members on grand conspiracies that never pan out."

Biden maintained the pardons were a defense of democracy and the rule of law. Stressing his belief in legal institutions, he condemned the intimidation and threats faced by public servants. While controversial, the pardons underscore Biden’s parting message to protect those he believed were unfairly targeted.
. I can go on. So much for, "nobody is saying this."

The directive came Monday in a letter from acting deputy attorney general, Emil Bove. It was not immediately clear how Danielle Sassoon, the acting U.S. Attorney, would respond.

Adams has pleaded not guilty to a five-count indictment that accused him of accepting years of luxury travel gifts in exchange for, among other things, persuading the fire department to approve the opening of the new Turkish consulate in Manhattan despite the lingering safety concerns of inspectors.

Adams has spent time with President Donald Trump recently, including meeting with him in South Florida and attending his inauguration.
Sorta like Joe Biden pardoning his son Hunter just days before his sentencing, smiles!

So when Democrats give blanket pardons to people like General Milley and Anthony Fouci, and Hunter Biden, it is all good because it is to protect them from Trump's retribution, but when Trump calls to drop investigations on a Democratic politician, the pearl clutching begins.

You are right.

President Biden's blanket pardon was controversial; however, liberals and Democrats supported the decision. In fact, many Democrats considered it a positive step. Now, some Democrats are concerned about President Trump engaging in similar activities. Can you see the inconsistency here?

Are you not doing the same? You have expressed concern about President Biden's blanket pardon, yet you seem to have no issue with President Trump dropping charges against his political allies.

Those of us who do not identify as Democrat, Republican, liberal, or conservative are tired of the double standards exhibited by both parties. If we, as a country, wish to progress, we need to cease these petty tit-for-tat exchanges and address issues directly and honestly.

You have me mistaken, I think Adams should rot in jail, just like many other Democratic politicians. I am just point out the hypocrisy and the pearl clutching when the shoe is turned onto the other foot. I am not defending Trump, but showing why liberal objections are invalid.

In other words, weaponizing the justice system is acceptable now because my candidate won the election.
No. I am not saying it is okay. I am saying, given the actions from Democrats during the Biden and Obama terms, what on earth did you expect?

Top N.Y. prosecutor, others resign after order to drop Eric Adams case

Five Justice Department officials also submitted resignations, gutting the Public Integrity Section, which investigates public officials and election crimes.

Danielle Sassoon, the acting U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York, told Attorney General Pam Bondi that she could not in good faith ask a judge to drop the charges against Adams, “because the law does not support a dismissal, and because I am confident that Adams has committed the crimes with which he is charged.”

Kevin Driscoll and John D. Keller, senior officials who oversaw public corruption cases in Washington, submitted their resignations also

Three prosecutors who worked with Keller in the Public Integrity Section left too, people briefed on the matter said, gutting a relatively small division that investigates public officials and election crimes.

The departures came as acting deputy attorney general Emil Bove said he was moving oversight of the Adams case to Washington in an effort to get the charges dismissed.

For what? They were never charged with anything or even detained, arrested, what-have-you.
You said, "Adams won't be tried."

I said, "Neither will Milley and Fauci be tried."

How is it that pardoning people is now "weaponizing the DOJ."

When did pardoning people become "weaponization of the DOJ?" Let me guess, since Trump took office?

It doesn't matter. Because Trump let him off the hook, it is a grave injustice. But if a Democrat give blanket pardons to Hunter, Milley, and Fauci, he is "protecting democracy."

What goes around, comes around. Trump won, so let him cook.
I'm not going to defend the pardoning of Hunter, but there's an obvious difference here in that there was no quid pro quo for Biden in his pardons, whereas Trump is horsetrading with Adams.

Did you read Ms Sassoon's letter? She explained that very point - if prosecuting people for political reasons is "weaponizing the DOJ", then agreeing to not prosecute them for political reasons is also tantamount to "weaponizing the DOJ." It's the other side fo the same coin.

I expected better, but it seems that those of us who do not align with either the Democratic or Republican parties we will be disappointed regardless of who enters the White House.

It appears that both parties are currently engaged in reciprocal actions.

I can't recall the Reagan or H Bush era.

But , Clinton, W. Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden, and again Trump all used their pardon power for political reasons.
