From the article Inauguration Week Was a Collision of Two Christianities at religionnew.com. Do we have two Christianities? (Posted here for discussion about the theology, not the politics).

"What we are seeing is a tale of two Christianities. It’s why we now have T-shirts that say, “I’m a love your neighbor Christian not a storm the Capitol kind.” There are competing narratives of what the Christian faith is fundamentally about and what our priorities should be as followers of Jesus...
...The word “Christian” means “Christ-like.” If it doesn’t look like Jesus, and it doesn’t sound like Jesus … let’s not call it Christianity. If it’s not about love and mercy … let’s not call it Christianity. If it’s not good news to the poor … let’s not call it Christianity. If it’s not about welcoming the stranger … let’s not call it Christianity. "

Both of the two type of Christianities are just that, people following a religion. If the person has not believed in Jesus for God's free gift of Eternal Life salvation and become a permanent born again child of God.

And yes a person can follow Jesus and never have believed in Jesus for Life.

I'm not sure why you would introduce it as a political view and suppose it possible to develop it non-politically.

But Christianity is about a lot more than just love, mercy and good news to the poor. Particularly when the focus of the author is on politically correct notions of what love, mercy and good news to the poor is about, as relates to current events (politically drawn views, like the one here called, "welcoming the stranger").

To ask us to discuss it non-politically is to ask us to accept the political terminology as valid practical application.

There may be 2 or more divisions of Christendom, but there is only one Christianity.

We have many Christian denominations and we have differing ways in the particulars about what Scripture means when it says this or that.

Likewise, when it comes to government we have a variety of ideas on how tackle a variety of issues we face locally and nationally.

I don't believe the person who, for instance, feels that meeting literally every physical need of another nations citizens at a level our own citizens are not anywhere afforded in this country while our own citizens are left in the mountains without homes, heat, electricity or running water and no one but their neighbor to help them because the government and the far left won't help white Christians, is NOT some kind of model of Christian led government, is a bad Christian.

They simply have a more biblical approach to solving problems in society than stepping over the dead bodies of our own people to virtue signal and pat themselves on the back about what great Christians they are, after spitting on their fellow Christians graves.

God bless.

I meant that as explanation of why I chose to post it in a theology forum not a political one.

The word "Christian" means follower of Christ, who never condoned sin and forgave those who repented (turned from it).

Many people work to promote good causes without also being dedicated Christians.
President Trump is a good president but not a pastor.

I have had very good plumbers work to fix problems in my house - that were not Christians at all and who would not make a very good pastor. This has never been confusing to me.

The mention missing doesn't mean it did not happen.

Ok lets say some did repent, their forgiveness came before their repentance. But i am sure all did not repent, if any at all did.

Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

Jesus also forgave people who did not turn from sin.

Luke 13:3
I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

I'm curious how you twisted this sentiment of the Lord's own words into that...

Lucy, you has some s'plaining to do.

This is sort of a big deal.

Jesus died to forgive repenting souls, not devils, demons, and rebels.

1 Peter 5:5
Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.

So God is resisting them, but forgiving them?

I could machine gun this particular point to death with scripture as it is plastered across the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

I think making baseless statements that lead people into sin is a dangerous idea.

James 3:1
My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

Just some food for thought before stepping into any larger holes.

John 9:41
Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

Lord Jesus did not forgive these people who would not confess their sins and repent and turn away from them.

Rather instead, He clearly tells them that they are absolutely not forgiven because they refuse to repent.

There are only a few thousand more verses disproving any notion to the opposite of this clear example.

God hates pride, sin, and rebellion and does not offer forgiveness for rebels who are devoted to sinning and not stopping.

No. Lord Jesus did not forgive people who were committed to sin.

Why miss represent what Jesus accomplished on the cross. His death took away the sin of the world and all people (believers and unbelievers) have had their sin accounted and paid for.

Why lie about what Jesus accomplished on the cross. His death took away the sin of the world and all people (believers and unbelievers) have had their sin accounted and paid for.
Another blanket statement with no foundation underneath it.

Let the people read and see what truth is, because telling people what to believe apart from scripture is manipulation.

You didn't address the quotes at all.

Everyone can plainly read what is said in the Bible...

I have no idea how you contradict God and sleep peacefully, but I pray people don't follow that foolish idea.

Also, there are no lies in my post and you asserting such is outrageous. I pointed to the passages, while you are making blank opinionated statements.

We will agree to absolutely disagree.

I posted the scriptures there so everyone can determine for themselves who is lying about what for their own souls and decision making.

Blessings.

Have you ever read The Bible.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

I do not address the verses you posted because your misunderstanding of them is so off. But i will address the Luke 13 verse

Jesus is simply saying if these people do not repent of the sin they are doing they will like the Galileans and other will die. Their sin will cause their physical death. The same as the tower who fell on the people and physically killed them.

So if for an example, if an alcoholic does not repent of his alcoholism, it will take his life.

I thought he said "Go forth and sin no more "
-
Ok so are you saying that because he told the woman to sin no more. he actually did not say “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

There have always been multiple emphases in Christian thought, and those who champion Christianity not because they believe it is the Truth but because it makes for easy political capital and represents an idealized past when things were simple and good. For a lot of people it's more about heritage and finding comfort from the fear of change, rather than a humble response to the Lord's mercy.

Ok so you are saying Jesus did not say “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

Even though this is in The Bible as something Jesus stated

If you are asserting, and I think you are... that everyone is forgiven their sins regardless of their repentance or belief in the Lord Jesus....

Then where is this guy at and why?

------------------------------------
Luke 16:19-31

19“There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. 20But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 21desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24“Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’

27“Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ”
------------------------------------

And I'm not here for anyone to give me an answer really... but for the people that may need to see reality and actual scripture that reveals consequences for choices.

The more people twist scripture, and the simple message being given, the less child-like, and more snake-like the arguments get.

--------------------------------------
Matthew 18:1-9
1At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

2Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.

6“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

8“If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. 9And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.
---------------------------------------

Maybe we should let the Lord Jesus speak for Himself what He means.

I've heard the word salad they've used to try to turn this one on its head... but God's children know exactly what God is saying.
