CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Most Americans have IDs but they should allow them to prove citizenship if they don't have IDs.

The store owner told Nexstar’s WPIX that a U.S. military veteran was among the people detained.
“One of the guys was a military veteran, and the way he looked to me was because he was Hispanic. He is Puerto Rican and the manager of our warehouse. It looked to me like they were specifically going after certain kinds of people — not every kind, because they did not ask me for documentation for my American workers, Portuguese workers, or white workers,” Janota said.

I'm dumb lol. I was on a different plane in my thinking.
and now he'll be more wealthy than he is now. Like the mistreatment by police on traffic stops some of them "bless and don't curse" take advantage of our ignorance of constitutional rights and state laws. Some of the mistreated make bank and the involved are fired. My son turned me on to some videos a couple of years ago then I started learning more about the 4th.

In a news conference this morning, Mayor Ras Baraka said several agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement entered the back of the business, arrested three undocumented workers, and detained and questioned employees who are U.S. citizens.
“People were fingerprinted. Pictures of their IDs and faces were taken there,” the Democratic mayor said. “I was appalled, upset, angry that this would happen here in this state, in this country, that this would be allowed.”

That surprised me. I have an electronic version of my drivers license on my phone but only a because if you are stopped by the police for any reason you need to produce it.
There wasa move to introduce an ID card in '87 but it was extremely unpopular (something we'd class as 'un-Australian') and was dropped.

I think just a drivers license will do .. the computer will immediately confirm your residence status. If they're smart they just scan your ID with Immigration phone and within seconds a result will be known.
If you don't do that - it's OK, but in case there is a raid because Immigration had clues that illegal aliens work there, it may take more time for you to prove your legal status. But most people carry a drivers license with them anyway I guess.
If you take a train ride - they will check your ticket; it's the same for workplaces for which there are strong suspicions illegal aliens work there.

We're a long way from anywhere down here. So if someone is that desperate to endure a long sea voyage (and they'd generally be landing on very remote areas on the north coast or very deserted areas of the west coast) and shows that amount of fortitude to get here then personally speaking I think they're just the sort of people we'd want.
Then again, so many die trying to make it, it makes sense to dissuade them from trying.
