Why are we supposed to watch a 10-hour timer?

Click on Phil's video. Do you see a red button at the bottom? Click on that and drag it across until the time says 3 hours and 50 minutes. Release it and look at the screen - do you see where the sun is? Now drag it across again until you get to 6 hours; where is the sun now? Drag it across again until you get to 9 hours 30; what about now?


That video was made in real time; real people sat behind that camera and really watched the sun. We just have the ability to speed it up and watch the sun at different points, rather than spend 10 hours watching it.
You can mock, dismiss and shout "fake" all you like - you just look idiotic for laughing at a real event.

Your "10-hour countdown" clip, on the other hand, serves no purpose at all. Everyone knows that if you set a timer for 10 hours, then it will count down the hours, minutes and seconds to zero. If you were cooking then an alarm would go off at zero to tell you that whatever you were cooking was done - though I can't think of anything that takes 10 hours to cook.
