Once again the Left take things out of context. Hinchcliffe was referring to the massive garbage problem Puerto Rico has at the moment and not the people themselves.

Though I admit it was not a good joke to even go there at such a political rally as it has allowed the Left to capitalise and distort the context as they always do which is enough to cause damage to what was a good rally.

No, it's not funny when it's delivered at a political rally where a non-insignificant portion of your audience might take it seriously.

It also just wasn't funny, period, but it was even less funny given the context. I actually did laugh at some of his jokes, including one of the ones about... um... reproductive rates.

^^^ this is fine behavior all Christians should aspire to then?

The only thing that makes it bad is whether you agree with the policies the listeners might want to see?

Just trying to figure it out. The Democrats can name call and it's fine, they can hold multiple political events at Madison Square Gardens without being accused of being Nazis, they can have gutteral racist humor and that is perfectly acceptable to supposedly good Christians but if, on the right side of the aisle anyone even appears to have been raised in the same culture the Democrats peddle daily and suddenly we are an evil to be stomped down, suppressed, and painted as monsters.

95% of the people at that rally wouldn't have a clue that Puerto Rico has a garbage problem—maybe even a higher percentage than that. He also made a joke about Black people carving watermelons instead of pumpkins for Halloween and a vulgar joke about how Latinos love making babies. When you put his entire act in context, it becomes clear that he wasn't talking about Puerto Rico's garbage problem when he called the country a "floating island of garbage."

The fact is that if Trump were not the Republican candidate and Kamala was, I wouldn't vote for her.
I wouldn't vote for her if I had to vote democrat or not vote at all.
Jokes are not going to change this election
All the screaming about "racist" "nazi" Whatever, heard it all before and it won't make a dent in the election.
It is going to be the issues. And Kamala, with that laundry list of "reaching out to Puerto Ricans" seems as if she has been perched on that bar stool next to Whitmer for too long.
Kamala drinks. She was drinking on the set with Colbert too.
And in Kalamazoo. She works her way through the crowd to get a beer. Looked like she needed that.
She likes campaigning in bars where she goes after rallies. Google Kamala drinking.
But that may even be a side issue.
It is going to be the economy.

I think most people would know, its been in the headlines. Nevertheless they can become informed and thus understand the context rather than the Left hiding that fact and using it out of context like they always do with Trump.

Ah thats what comedy is about, being irreverant. Have you heard some of the comedians. They have also mocked whites and even themselves. Thats what comedy is all about. But the Left Woke wrecked all that and took the comedy out of comedy.

But like I said it was inappropriate to be done at a political rally and is not a reflection of Trumps actual policies. .

On the plus side Carlson didn't go as far as to say that Harris is like Hitler.
He said just as bad. Other speak were worse.

To be fair the bar scene with Whitmer was just that, a staged event to make Kamala appear relatable.

Not many people sitting under great big boom mics at the bar with everyone filming suddenly surprised to find out someone overheard their private conversation:

I'm certainly not saying vote for her I never ever would, but I do think the alcohol is an advertising gimmick, though it's likely she drinks in real life since she doesn't make faces trying to choke it down on camera.

I think that's why he got boo"d... The rally goers didn't have any appreciation for the humor, though people were trying to be polite enough.

Yes and Hinchcliffe was seen as being out of step and a lone wolf in that regard with the rest of the rally. The problem was no one vetted Hinchcliffe's material which is a basic mistake. But it was not representative of the rally or its supporters and the boos reflected that.

You could say it was someone telling an inappropriate joke at any group gathering as so often happens. They think its funny but in the context not every does.

I remember doing the same at a work meeting when I first started. It went down like a lead balloon and I shrunk into my chair. Though I did catch the boss having a smirk and that is partly why I said it as they had a sense of humour. Just the wrong place and time. Not that the joke was not funny or had a grain of truth to it as comedy does.

I mean look at Ricky Gervais. He attacks white elitists all the time with crude and highly controversial truths and everyone actually likes it when done in the right context. Jokes about the Irish, Aussies being dim witted, Catholic jokes and even Muslim comedians mocking Muslims with comedy which according to most Mulsims is never funny no matter what context.

George Lopez was funny.
Hinchcliffe didn't just say things about Puerto Rico. He made crude jokes about Hispanics and their lack of natural birth control, that Jews are cheap, that Palestinians are rock-throwers and a comment about watermelon to a black man. It didn't work.

Other speakers were vile in their comments, enough that I can't link to their statements. She was called the Antichrist, who started off as a prostitute, has pimp handlerss who is on the side of terrorists.

Another speaker, Rosenthal, described the Democratic Party as "a bunch of degenerates, Jew-haters, and lowlifes. every one of them." One speaker said the Democratic Party should be slaughtered. It goes along with Trump's "enemy within" comments.

To be fair the bar scene with Whitmer was just that, a staged event to make Kamala appear relatable.
Kamala was inside a bar after a rally with Michelle. She kind of scooted, inched toward the bar, smiling and all that
And when she got to the bar, she was there, she ordered a beer which she took like an old lost friend.
Being sensitive to alcoholics, nothing brings a smile to their face as when they clutch that bottle or glass.
I have watched Kamala in videos.
She gets positively prune faced if they ask her about immigration, the economy, Joe Biden or foreign policy
She doesn't like to talk about those issues. She is uncomfortable
But if the topic is abortion, she lights up, sparkles, laughs, smiles
And she gets the same way about that bottle of beer.
Watch it for yourself. I watch all the candidates closely and Harris makes a very poor impression on me, generally.

I caught a good bit of the rally and didn't hear any of that.

I listened to Ramaswamy, one of the national security people, part of Trump's speech, all the Trump's, Melania etc. Musk and so forth.

No one I caught was rude, though I wasn't listening to find fault, or scouring every word...

Comedy is subjective for the most part its contextual. Its the majority audience who will determine whether its funny or not and it seems at least for George Lopez most people think a Mexican making comedy about Mexicans is funny.

"He’s Mexican making a Mexican joke" — Internet defends George Lopez's Mexicans speech after criticizing Tony Hinchcliffe's Puerto Rico joke

Like I said Muslims make jokes about Muslims and its very funny because it breaks the seriousness of situations and always contains a grain of truth. It actually helps to break down barriers.

But of course the Woke Left cannot understand such humor as they are so fixated ideology.

I mean Harris's humor is about as funny as a dead fish. She giggles and laughs at her own weird jokes about everything even when theres nothing funny about it.

No, that is not how it came off.

Especially when remembering Trump describing American as a garbage can because of the immigrants.

Unless you are Native American, you are a descendant of immigrants.
Are you arguing that “Native” Americans were created here?

Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden will be remembered, though not in a good way. One of the many lines that stood, out in a night with vulgar filth being spewed, was this "joke" by Tony Hinchcliffe. He said:

wow.

This is from James Kou's blog on Substack.

I admit it. I did not have “deeply insult millions of swing state voters by calling their home ‘garbage’” on my 2024 bingo card. But that’s exactly what happened yesterday at Trump’s Madison Square Garden MAGA hate rally, an event that chillingly echoed a pro-Nazi rally at that same venue in 1939.
The selection of MSG was no coincidence, of course. The speeches were filled with racist, misogynistic invective that have become the Trump and MAGA brand. But it was a one-liner from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe (I know, who?) that broke through and stunned the political world, shaking up the race at a critical moment:....
With early voting underway and undecideds making up their minds whether and how to vote, common sense dictates to both campaigns, “Just don’t step in it.” But step in it the GOP did, and they could pay a costly political price. TikTok and Twitter swelled with condemnations, many people reminding the GOP that Puerto Ricans are fiercely proud of their home, are U.S. citizens, and vote in huge numbers in key states.......
The internet exploded in response to Hinchcliffe’s “joke.” Officials of Puerto Rican descent could barely contain their anger.
“As a Puerto Rican, I’m tempted to call Tony Hinchcliffe racist garbage, but doing so would be an insult to garbage,” tweeted Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY). “When casting their ballots at the voting booth, Latinos should never forget the racism that Donald Trump seems all too willing to platform.”
“This is my abuelita,” posted New Hampshire state senate candidate Carlos Cardona, attaching a picture of his grandmother. “She lives in Reading, PA and she is Puerto Rican. Guess who she will be voting for? Yep, Kamala Harris. Puerto Rico is not garbage and we wont be insulted. Not today, not ever. ”

Some interesting facts from the article :

View attachment 356459

View attachment 356460

Harris had put that out the day of that"joke".

From the article:

After releasing the plan, and around the time news was breaking of about the “floating island of garbage” remark out of the Trump rally, three highly influential Puerto Rican celebrities publicly endorsed Harris and posted to their collective 315 million followers on social media.
This is a great example of conservative humour. In the 1907s in the UK comedians were all cracking jokes about the black or Asian friend with the funny voice or how stupid the Irish were of depraved the Frenchman was or the Chinks this or the Japs that.

It was all about punching down. Never punching up.

In the 1980s in the UK there came ‘alternative’ comedy that turned away from all that. No more punching down.

Now conservative comedians are as rare as rocking horse poop; Mr Trump letting these guys say what they said is truly baffling.

I'm half Puerto Rican. Exactly how is this supposed to endear to this group. I get that Trump did not say this but seriously, it's really souring for me. The fact many are defending this as "it's just a joke bro", you don't speak for me and other people from my culture who are also upset. And especially supposed Christians laughing at this online. I hope people realize Christians are supposed to be above name calling and mockery.

When you refer to this group, I wonder if the Christian Forums should have a political category, all things considering?

And I typically disassociate from people, even had to cut ties with some people that would throw insults, and then say, "It's just a joke, bro" They disguise a hurtful comment as a joke.
