  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Finally get the opportunity to vote early.

Hope to vote this week.

I'm ready to move on, too ... but hey, what will folks here talk about once the election is over? lol

I do suppose political discussions will continue ...
at least as long as there is freedom of speech ...
but I don't plan to engage in many of those discussions.

I'm ready to get my focus back more on Jesus, and the things that are most important to Him.

Oh politics will still be discussed. It’s all some people talk about.

I think it might drive me crazy, if that was all I thought and talked about ...
but hey, 'to each his own'!

Yeah I can read the news but the constant wrangling would be enough to drive someone around the bend.

Peter Sonski of The American Solidarity Party would be a better choice imo.

I'll let her know about him. He seems to be a good guy to vote for. He has no chance but good to vote for.

Yes. Hopefully it sends a message. Both parties are repugnant anymore.

Well she doesn't want to vote for Trump because he screwed up so bad the last time and he's just not a good candidate. He's the lesser of the two evils but honestly he should not win. And Harris is an obvious don't vote for as a Christian. I can't see how a Christian can vote for Harris in good conscience. Obviously one of the two has to win and I kind of hope Harris wins even though Trump is the lesser evil. Just because of how badly he screwed up as president the last time but... idk...

Honestly you're right neither party are good but people make good points that the Republicans are the lesser evils of the two. If you're going to vote for one or the other I'd rather vote for a republican. I'm half Canadian and can't vote but if I could vote I'd probably vote either off party or for a good republican.

Yep! Mailed in my overseas vote on 20 September.
Btw, I vote in the great state of Georgia as that was my residence when I left the USA.

I early voted around two weeks ago. Both candidates sucked, and Peter Sonski was sadly not on my ballot.

I know people say Christians should not vote, but God saw fit to allow us to have a say in this deal. If we can contribute to the good, then we should. Just don't put your trust in men. Know that God will help the faithful.

Yeah... I am also tired of the back and forth. Just get this over with and work with whatever God sees fit to give us. Thank you Lord!

My concern has been to know how to best 'plan' for what is to come.

I am limited in how much I can realistically 'prep', should bedlam and chaos break out over the election results. How things go from there will depend on who becomes the next president.

I heard an alarming discussion today, that the reporting of election results may potentially be dragged out for days, even weeks, and that we should be prepared for very rocky times. This expert (formerly a Democratic Party loyalist) suggests being prepared for a delayed inauguration day, and about six months of chaos. I hope she is wrong, but I can also see how that scenario might play out.

Right now, there is this heightened tension about November 5th, but we are in a long spiritual battle that's not going to end then. I'm spiritually prepared to accept God's Will, whatever that might all entail. I believe that is the only way to find peace, in these very uncertain and perilous times.

We voted yesterday, the first day of early voting here. We voted at the closest polling place -- our ever-so-slowly dying mall (one of those wonderful products of the '70s.)

We got there a bit before the polling opened and there were two lines. I'm not sure how that happened, but they adapted. We were in line for TWO HOURS! And when we left both lines were still winding along half the mall.

I was glad to get it out of the way. Now I just remind myself of Romans 13:1. "...For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are established by God." The will of God will prevail, whatever it might be.

You make valid points. I am going to stay out of the mess. A couple of days ago, the Lord very clearly told me to back out of discussing Trump and Harris and the election on one side or the other. It is not productive and can only be harmful. So I will not be in those discussions from here out. Just vote and be counted. But in the end trust Him.
