  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Conclusion; certain Christians are upset because someone proclaiming Jesus is Lord caused Harris to expose herself.
What got exposed is Christians with persecution fantasies.

Because I'm pretty confident I'd be kicked out of a Trump rally if I did that. I suspect the crowd would probably boo me too. To be 100% honest, I suspect that I'd be putting myself in danger if I did that
Actually someone did yell "Jesus is King" at a JD Vance Rally and Vance merely repeated, "Yes, Jesus is King."

No the objection is Christians objecting to someone proclaiming Jesus is Lord. That's what's scary about this.

Paul was told time and again to stop preaching and he never did.

He always preached in the public square, and in 2024 there's no more public a square than a political rally for in-person public.

Kamala Harris however, doesn't think her political rally is the place for people who shout the name of Jesus. They hadn't disrupted anything in 3 statements shouted by 2 different people.

The only disruption was by the speaker stopping to publicly mock them - a speaker seeking the highest office in the land - and then throwing them out of the event as they were assaulted by the crowd.
No, Paul did not always preach in the public square.

The only place he preached in public was in Athens, and there he had moved from the marketplace, where he had first started preaching, to Mars Hill when he was told that was the appropriate location.

Otherwise, he normally preached in synagogues where preaching was expected, or in private homes. In Ephesus he rented a building to preach. In Philippi he began preaching outside the city on the river bank, then moved his preaching into Lydia's home.

That didn’t happen but the young men who claim the objection was their words and not their disruption are riding the wave of manufactured outrage.

The actual point in my bringing up Paul is Christians denouncing the proclamation that Jesus is Lord.

Nonsense, people shout out during rallies all the time. It's a rally, not a funeral. The issue for Christians is how Harris responded to someone shouting out Jesus is Lord.

People are denouncing being in the wrong place trying to preach...which it should be noted, Paul never was.

Again, it was a rally. Not a somber affair, but a rally where people make all kinds of noise and shout out. That wasn't the problem. The problem wasn't someone shouting Jesus is Lord at a rally. That probably happens all the time. The problem is how Harris responded to it because it made her look bad.

I would be interested in seeing you walk into a synagogue today and declare that preaching about Lord Jesus there is an 'expected' thing to do. Now that would be refreshing change.

That's a goofy comment. We weren't talking about you or I walking into a synagogue today...that comment has zero relevance to the conversation.

Okay. What about 2,000 years prior? What then?

She responded to them first yelling lies lies after she spoke of Trump instrumental in overturning RvW. Anything the said after is irrelevant and spin.

An atheist liking a comment by another atheist complaining about 'persecution fantansies' on a christian debate site-- quite a scene to behold.

Hello! By saying 'wrong rally' is she saying that Christians would be a better fit at the Trump rally?

God Bless You :)

No. She's saying that it's the wrong rally to heckle about abortion.

It's the wrong candidate rally for being pro-life and saying Jesus is Lord. It seems to me that's pretty much been fully established, so it sems there's really nothing further to debate in this thread.
