I very much disagree with you. Romney is not a far better cry than Trump.
And it's not just me. Most Republicans do not see Romney as a better choice than Trump.

So no, if Romney ran against Harris, there is no guarantee that he would win.
I said, he 'might' win. Just like Trump 'might' win against Harris.

You see, the real issue is that Romney could not, and cannot, beat Donald Trump in any competition involving Trump. Romney doesn't have that kind of support within the Repubican Party.

You non-partisans/Independents may like him. Some Republicans may like him. Even some Democrats do.
But in no way could Romney win in any competition against Donald Trump.
Just is what is is.
It depends on the Republican, I just remember when the Republican party had class, and in 2024, those days are over. We need someone with class, anyone. Who would you want running in the GOP in 2024 besides Trump? Is Trump the best the GOP can offer? The GOP had some good candidates before 2016, and it is sad that the GOP only has an old billionaire running in 2024.

His age is showing. He is not fit for the job mentally or morally.
SO this is the new "bash" Trump campaign?
Figures
20% of American are old. And old is not synonymous with senile.
I have noted Harris taking that tack and it doesn't sit well with Senior voters, most of whom retain all of their faculties well up to and past Trump's age.

This is starting to resonate with the senior voters that Harris and the Dems are disrespectful and uninformed. And using age, merely "too old" to remove elected officials or even opposing candidates by disrespectful inuendos about age.

And that by pushing one old man aside, the Obama/Harris camp might try the same tactic again.
IT doesn't look good to keep taking down elected officials and install the "powers that be" chosen candidate who nobody ever voted for or in the future, attempting to remove a candidate based on inuendos and slander about his age.

Trump is the best candidate for the Republican party in 2024.
No one else in the party can do what he does, or is willing to do it.
Trump has proven he is willing to die for the cause ... to save America.
Imo, that is really too much to ask from a candidate, but that is the kind of world we are living in today.
A dangerous world, full of dangerous players.
Trump ain't afraid of the battle.

I don't think he has dementia, or maybe he does. His personality is just very vulgar and crude.
Ah, so Trump is vulgar, crude, and may have dementia. Is that the kind of guy you vote for?

Trump was at a rally tonight saying "Frack, frack, frack" like a duck.

It was so unpresidential.
Kinda reminds me of:

As the campaigns are coming to the closing weeks, is Trump focusing on what he can do for Americans? On how he will lift them up? Clarifying any policies? NOPE.

In Latrobe, PA, Trump really lowered his standards and became more vulgar than ever.

Former President Trump highlighted the size of the late golf legend Arnold Palmer’s genitalia during a rally Saturday evening in Pennsylvania, a critical battleground state that will be decisive in determining which party wins the White House in a little more than two weeks.
The rally took place in Latrobe, Pa., the birthplace of Palmer, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time and who died in 2016 at the age of 87. Although it is common for political candidates to name-check hometown heroes during their travels, Trump’s focus on Palmer’s genitalia was peculiar.....
The campaign of Trump’s rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, mocked the former president’s comment.
“Trump’s Pennsylvania Closing Argument Is Literal Junk,” Harris’ campaign said in a statement. “In a Pennsylvania rally speech his campaign team billed as ‘the beginning of his closing argument in the final stretch,’ Donald Trump focused on the issue most important to voters in this election: a deceased golfer’s … anatomy.”

Just locker room talk, like 'grabbing them by" the privates in 2016?
Arnold Palmer's family is not impressed with Trump.

His daughter told The Sporting News in 2018 that the golf legend, a conservative who was friendly with Dwight D. Eisenhower, was so incensed by what he saw as Trump’s lack of civility that he made noises of disgust when Trump appeared on the television....
“My dad had no patience for people who demean other people in public,” she added. “He had no patience for people who are dishonest and cheat. My dad was disciplined. He wanted to be a good role model. He was appalled by Trump’s lack of civility and what he began to see as Trump’s lack of character.”

A couple days ago, Trump was on the Dan Bongino Show podcast, and was very vulgar.

Seems he felt Harvey Weinstein, who was convicted of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, was screwed - using the most polite term I am confortable with. Donald Trump used a vulgar term.

Is Trump just that vulgar and uncouth, or is this from dementia?

He is cancelling events, looks haggard and tired. He dozed through the RNC. Just the other day, he was falling asleep at a campaign event.

Trump was attending a roundtable in the swing state of Michigan when he seemingly nodded off, with the former president closing his eyes as an Oakland County community member talked about the region’s educational issues....
Trump’s bout of drowsiness comes after he canceled multiple interviews this week, with Politico reporting an adviser told the show’s producers Trump was “exhausted and refusing [some] interviews but that could change.”

So is he exhausted and being more vulgar than usual, or is it dementia? What kind of closing argument is this?
My friend's mom, a very proper lady, began talking vulgarly about sex when she got dementia. It was so painful for her family.
But when someone has been vulgar all his life the diagnosis may not be as clear.

Yeah, we are living in the last days, just look at the two candidates we have. Both are junk compared to the candidates of a few decades ago. Also, we have the threat of Russia, China, North Korea and other foreign powers + nukes. If Oppenheimer did not event nukes, the world would be better off. Oppenheimer invented the first of the End Times tech in my opinion: The Nuke. In 2024, we also have social media, which can be dangerous as well, as both sides can use it to spread misinformation. Finally, we have artificial intelligence, which could be the most dangerous technology of them all, only time will tell if we use it for good, bad, or a mixture of the two.

If the liberals believe that Kamala Harris acts like a saint, then may I sell you all a bridge to the moon?

None of us are "saints", but most of us have enough sense to know that one should not be taking locker room talk to the public stage.

So did my great aunt. She started repeating all the dirty jokes she was told when she was the night guard at an armory plant during WWII.

I agree that elections are not a popularity contest. They are a contest to determine who is best to oversee our country.

I would have thought that dementia would be a good reason not to select a particular candidate.

IMHO, what you express is unrealistic and idealized. Trump is no savior. He isn't willing to die for America. He is running to keep himself out of jail and because he wants power. There is a reason so many people from his last adminstration regard him as dangerous and unfit.

I'm not a doctor so I cannot say if Trump or Biden are showing signs of dementia.
I am not an expert in determining if a person has dementia either.

But yes, I can tell if somebody is presenting with the symptoms of dementia. See

Yep.

Interesting that when Biden was viewed as having dementia, Republicans were hollering that he was unfit.
Now that Biden is not running, folks are noting that Trump is showing signs of dementia. He is rambling worse, distracted, has slurred speech often, and looks exhausted. He dozed through his trial and at the RNC. He is not up to the job.
