  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How do you know that’s what that person was doing?
Because they didn’t attempt to engage with anyone. They just shouted in a way that did nothing but interrupt the speaker. There are very few contexts in our society in which that sort of interjection is considered appropriate and welcomed, which is the reaction needed in order to get the person open to a conversion message. Going into a space and violating all of its social norms like that just hardens everyone to your message.

There is something here that needs untangled.

Trump and his followers tend to appropriate and exploit the Holy Name of Jesus and our God for political points.

Amen to that.

You can honestly say that ^, about the 73 million Americans that voted for Trump in 2020?
Really?

Akita, you owe some of us here an apology, for falsely accusing us of a horrible sin.

If I went to a Trump rally and was disruptive, say by me doing the same thing, yelling "Jesus is Lord", and I got kicked out. Would you be just as upset?

Or would you apply a different standard?

Because I'm pretty confident I'd be kicked out of a Trump rally if I did that. I suspect the crowd would probably boo me too. To be 100% honest, I suspect that I'd be putting myself in danger if I did that.
You don't know Trump or 'Trumpers' at all.

If you went into a Trump rally yelling "Jesus is Lord", Trump would loudly say "Amen!|, and so would the crowd.

Along with Christians who might not agree with the phrase being used in that heckling way at a political rally.

You have one such Christian right here, responding to this.

... And I have no intention of voting Kamala, either, mind anyone reading this post.

Anyways, at least from what I heard in the OP's video clip, it really did sound like "Lies! Lies!" and not anything like "Jesus is Lord!" just before Kamala said "Oh you guys are at the wrong rally." So unless I missed where someone said something pro-Christian at another point in the rally, I don't see how this can possibly be construed as being specifically against Christians anyway.

What makes you think that? You'd probably get applause.

Eight years of watching and hearing Donald Trump's political circus.

You are still assuming showboating.

I thought it sounded like “lies!”, too, but I didn’t care enough to watch more.

I concluded that they were showboating because of the reasons I gave. Nobody proclaims their faith in that manner if they’re not trying to create a spectacle of themselves.

the 2024 US election is between the Son of Perdition and the harlot of Babylon.

We need Jesus now.
OK, don't vote for Trump and select Jesus as a write-in if you so choose. I am fine with that.

I can assure you if you go to a Trump rally and shout Jesus is Lord , you will NOT be ejected or mocked. You would be much more likely met with amens than mocked. This is an indisputable fact. The liberal narrative of Trump is so skewed liberals cannot believe this is true but it is the reality.

Sorry my friend when a candidate for President openly mocks Christians it is an anti-Christian rally. Did you not hear the crowd shouting support of her mock
Oops, if you are looking for a rally where God is mocked, let me direct you to the one across town, where, during the 39 minute musical interlude, we were treated to a robotic hip-hop to several versions of Ave Maria.
The dazed audience probably would have walked out, but they were probably so sick of listening to non-stop vicious, hate-filled vitriol they might have welcomed the respite.
Ora pro noise peccatoribus.

Well it does seem a bit odd for a Christian to suggest that publicly proclaiming Jesus is Lord is wrong.
It should seem a bit odd that a bunch of Christians can't (or won't) tell the difference between "publicly proclaiming Jesus is Lord" and merely being disruptive.

Unfortunately, it's pretty common.

False witness: Harris was mocking the hecklers for being Christian when she was actually mocking them for being at the wrong rally.
You're being silly. How would she know they were at the wrong rally merely by saying Jesus is Lord? If all they said was Jesus is Lord then she had to be against the idea of it.
