You want to question with a slur?
The answer is a lot lower than Republicans are saying.
If immigrants apply for asylum they can stay temporarily and legally until their cases are adjudicated.
So the answer is:
X have applied for asylum and awaiting adjudication.
Y crossed over illegally.
I understand that many Fox viewers, accustomed to simplistic epithets and hate speech, might have difficulty with a candidate who addresses them respectfully. But Baier should know the difference.
If someone, an alien for example, crossed over illegally (your word), would that not make them an illegal alien?

Trump's "wall" didn't apparently didn't keep them out of the country. I could never understand how anyone thought that was a good plan. Oh, and he was going to make Mexico pay for it.

That was all a fail.
Nice misdirection you have going there.

I think it's important to check the promises people make when running for office. And fail to keep. Harris as well as Trump.

It's a fun way to compare them.

She did a good job prosecuting the lies of others--like the heavily edited clip of Trump that made him sound deceptively quasi-normal (which had been immediately followed by his oath to jail and destroy his enemies, even mentioning Schiff and Pelosi by name.)
FYI, when you are given Baier's question with lies masquerading as truth it is appropriate to.unmask the lies.
All her answers, like yours it seems, all were "well Trump this" or "Trump that"...the only lies were HERS....she is an empty pants suit full of word salad and misdirection...all she has to run on is her hate of Trump...

And we’ve gone from misdirection to complete avoidance.

Harris sat down with Baier on Wednesday for her first interview on Fox News since becoming this year's Democratic presidential nominee in July. The often contentious interview, which aired commercial-free for just under 27 minutes, touched on several hot-button campaign issues and the vice president's criticisms of Trump.

During an on-air discussion following the interview, Baier said that Harris arrived to the interview around 5:15 p.m., later than expected, and that Fox was "pushing the envelope" to complete what was expected to be a 25-minute interview before 6 p.m.

Baier said the following about the end of the interview during a broadcast of Hannity a short time later: "It was cordial, I said, 'thank you so much, Madame Vice President, for the time.' Her people, like probably four people, were wrapping me with big, you know, moving arms. That's why I looked out to the side and said, 'I've got to wrap up.'"

There was no indication that the Harris team ended the interview early...
Let’s not forget she was 17 minutes late…

She is a prophetic figure warning us of an extremely dangerous individual--in.the words of his cabinet, staffers, military advisors, diplomats, and DOJ appointees.

She is not motivated by "hate" of Trump, but by love of America.

It's as clear as the nose on your face.

Just got done watching it.

About what you'd expect from an adversarial interview with an experienced, intelligent politician. I though Harris acquitted herself well, although she was a little tentative and took her own time on some questions which looked like it frustrated Baier. You could tell she was thoroughly prepared - her answers were clear, although whenever pressed on contentious topics she was obviously pivoting/deflecting to desired and some-what well worn talking points. Standard.

I don't think either Fox or Harris got what they wanted out of the interview. I don't think Fox managed to box her in or get anything substantive to critique her on (or even really phase her despite the combative start). Similarly though, I don't think Harris got the really strong sound-bite/social media clip montage she was hoping for - although she aimed a fair few shots at Donald Trump.

Given the broadly positive responses to the interview I've seen from left leaning news and social media sources and the largely flat response from right leaning sources (except for a brief flurry of enthusiasm on social media immediately after it concluded), I wonder if all that it may managed to accomplish is to shorten Bret Baier's career at Fox?

Yeah, Anthony Scaramucci is a guy I had been following that used to work for Trump. All you have to do is listen to him and figure out Trump is bad news.

Also, the man who ghost wrote "The Art of the Deal" for Donald Trump, where Trump had the author Tony Schwartz make up crap to put in the book.

“The Art of the Deal” made America see Trump as a charmer with an unfailing knack for business. Tony Schwartz helped create that myth—and regrets it.

Vocabulary problem. People are not "illegal." They are "undocumented."
Illegals is a prejudicial word, seemingly supporting Trump's lie that they are rapists, vermin, etc
Most if them are "huddled masses yearning to breathe free" like our mostly European ancestors.
My parents were part of the “huddled masses” you trot out. They fled their country during a period of war.

It took them six months in a camp waiting for paperwork to be processed before they entered the country LEGALLY.

So please, stop the exaggeration. There are not eight million people entering from 150 different countries all looking for asylum.

Breaking the law is the definition of illegal.

I am always impressed by such stories. My grandfather's brother was a pioneer who, with his bride, trekked into the Australian outback with all their belongings on a bullock cart.

Giving up your homeland for a life in the unknown takes courage. I salute your parents.

Kamala Harris will make a great president, far better than her opponent, who threatens to use the military to attack those who disagree with him.

Harris is to be commended for going on Fox News. It is a tough task. She did well on some of her talking points. However, unfortunately, she was not usually direct in addressing the questions. That is a common problem with all politicians. They are taught to avoid answers that might offend some potential voter. However, that makes it very frustrating to watch.

I like this recommendation on how to answer hard questions: "1 immediately and unequivocally answer the question; 2 pivot to any qualifications you feel are necessary; 3 then fold that answer into a values statement thereby explaining why you answered that way." Source: Trump-Vance v. Harris-Walz: Comparing Their Official Policy Platforms (Part 2) • Richard Carrier Blogs

A better answer to the first question on the number of people crossing the border in the Biden administration might have been:

Yes, when we relaxed the COVID restrictions on border crossing, crossings increased by millions. But this is not necessarily a bad thing. When properly handled, needy migrants can gladly become part of our society, working hard and paying taxes, while not receiving many of the benefits that citizens get. But there is a problem when the border is overwhelmed. Then we find it impossible to process people in a way that is humanitarian and safe. Seeing this, we worked with Republicans to propose a border bill that would fund the strengthening of our border. Republicans liked the bill, but McConnel tells us they rejected it because Trump did not want Democrats to be successful in solving this. We need the cooperation of all people to work together on this. As president, I will seek to work in a bipartisan way to pass a bill that strengthens the border.
And let us not forget our duty to "your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." Where should people go that have no home and cross the border out of genuine fear for their safety? That is not illegal. Where should they go? We have a sign on our doorstep saying to send them here. Do we take that sign down? I say that we need to work together in humanitarian efforts to allow needy people to integrate with our society in a way that avoids chaos.

That's true, but she still gave Fox News the same amount of time for the interview that was agreed to.
Harris has been running a very energetic and active campaign, doing multiple events each day, reaching out to people outside of her base.

While her opponent stumbles through sentences filled with tired old cliches of fear and hate, canceling his appearance with the NRA, dancing through several versions of Ave Maria with no indication he knew they were prayers, she is the picture of focus and health.

What a contrast. So if she gets caught up in NYC rush hour traffic and is 17 minutes late, so what? Baker can't handle it? SMH.

What part of those quotes are puzzling you?

What part of she absolutely was the border czar is puzzling to you?

Her job wasn't involved with stopping people at the border. It was helping countries to try to reduce the problems they were having, and still are having, in order that people didn't feel such need to be at the border.

Semantics.

Now stopping someone literally crossing into the US is one thing. It's an immediate visceral response. Look, we stopped those people! But it doesn't address the reason why they are there.

Do you think the US should solve everyone else's problems?

That is a much bigger problem that will take many years to show any decent results. But it is critical in the long term.

Agreed.

Do you want results in the short term? Well, yeah. But that doesn't mean that attempts to reduce the problem in the long term shouldn't continue.

Please stop pretending like the Biden administration's foolish actions upon entering office didn't result in a QUADRUPLING of arrivals into the US. In the short-term, they should have left well enough alone, as Harris was questioned (and deflected) in the 60 Minutes interview.

Immigration slowed to.a crawl during the pandemic. Maybe that was one reason why Trump dealt with the pandemic so erratically, illogically and impulsively.

There were lots of people waiting at the border. And because the Northern Triangle countries were even more dangerous during the pandemic, immigrants surged.

As to your 8 million unsubstantiated allegation, only those who have not applied for asylum awaiting adjudication are in our country illegally. The rest are temporarily protected. If congress had passed funding for more judges, the wait would be months not years.

I think his frustration came from her obvious avoidance of answering questions.
