There is also the whole "group think" thing. When they are REJECTED as an individual, then they are still part of that whole. And when they are rejected as a group? Man...the oxytocin rush of feeling they belong...finally. Never feeling a sense of true belonging with anyone until you have to be racist to feel it.Experience has taught me that ridicule only makes them dig in more. It’s the whole “bad attention is better than no attention” scenario. They think people ridicule them out of fear and that justifies the prejudice. It never dawns on them they’re being ridiculed because they are, in fact, ridiculous. The self-awareness required for such a realization is just not there.
It seems so sad.
