  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have watched quite a few of is Instagram posts and he seems very genuine in his faith and honest that he is a new Christian and still learning. The change in the man is honestly incredible to see.

Let's leave the conspiracy and freemasonry stuff to the conspiracy forum, make a thread for that if you want.

It's not nonsense, far from it.
It's nonsense because you suggest that he is a "plant" with - as usual - no evidence at all to back it up.
It's also nonsense because the gates of hell cannot come against, or destroy, the church - God will not let those who bear the name of his Son to be overcome. That is the message and the victory of the cross. If you expect that one man will be able to bring Christianity down, you spend too much time reading conspiracy theories/science fiction and not enough time reading God's word.

Why would you hear the testimony of someone who's accepted Jesus into their life and think "fake/false"? Are you a naturally suspicious, or cynical, person? If so, Scripture tells us to think of whatever is good, noble, true, excellent, admirable and praiseworthy, Philippians 4:8.
I suppose it is possible that somewhere down the line Russell Brand might fall away from the faith, change his mind or say that it was a publicity stunt. And he almost certainly will if Christians mock him rather than pray for him.
At the moment, we have no evidence of that - so why think the worst?

No I don't expect that one man could bring Christianity down, but him & his clan will try too.
Like I've always said 'This world is run by a bunch of clowns' & is getting worse by the day.
But I know myself, that God will always win in the end, Amen :praying:

Here's a good film to watch that I reckon all Christians should feast their eyes on. It is about a pastor who travels in time from the 18th century to the now & is shocked by just how bad the world has become.
But you can only watch this movie on YouTube.

It's called 'The Time Changer'.

No, of course not.

The world is made up of different countries; some leaders are good, some are evil and a few may be Christian. Those who aren't Christians have different priorities and principles and that is how they will run their countries.
Things do seem to be getting worse; yes. But those of us who spend time praying for God's world believe that God hears those prayers - even if it's in tiny ways that we can't, yet, see.
But I know myself, that God will always win in the end,
Ultimately he will, yes.

I don't watch films. No particular reason; I just don't.

How does a fictional film illustrate your argument?

It doesn't, I just thought it may help some to understand the way the world is going as there is a lot of truth in this film.

I only asked as people who tend to watch/read the news on a daily basis tend to know whats going on in the world.
I do know what's going on in the world; don't be patronising.

You spoke of a film in which a man goes back in time; this is fiction and not possible.
It has nothing at all to do with the news.

Which you do not watch, so I were just curious as to how much news you watch, sorry if I came over as patronizing but you do strike me as someone who doesn't know much about world affairs because if you did you would know what Russell Brand was all about.

a) I don't need to watch the news to know what Russell Brand "is all about". I saw the story, years ago, where he and Jonatan Ross left a disgusting message on Andrew Sach's answer phone. This was one news story and does not show knowledge of world affairs. World affairs = wars, flooding, famines, earthquakes, people exploring space, the government taking away pensioners' heating allowance, the next leader of the Tory party, the next US president etc. etc.

b) I've never been a fan of Russell Brand. But that doesn't mean I'm going to be suspicious of articles in which he gives his testimony, tells of how the Bible touched his life and that he was baptised. I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt until, or unless, I read/see anything which tells me otherwise. You don't seem to be prepared to do that. You ignored his words and said that you would know the truth by his "hand signalling". You claimed he was signalling to the Freemasons that his words were lies and he was still "with them", but gave no evidence for that either. Then you said that you thought he was a plant - that he, and his group, were trying to bring Christianity down. Despite your initial reaction that his conversion to Christianity would be amazing, you are not only doubting it but making it part of another conspiracy theory.

c) I disputed your claim that Russell Brand was a plant - I said it was nonsense and you replied "not at all." So where's your evidence for that?
If it's not nonsense "at all", where's the proof?

I only asked as people who tend to watch/read the news on a daily basis tend to know whats going on in the world.

Speaking of the news...

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Diddy and his co-conspirators. The announcement was made today by Buzbee Law Firm and live streamed on Instagram. There are 120 victims ranging from 9 years of age and above and comprised of men and women. The co-conspirators will be named at a later date.

Brand attended the parties. Whether he was involved remains to be seen. A list is making the rounds on social media with the names of other attendees.

This is the elephant no one would touch but victims have been speaking out for years. Everyone knew about the parties. But few were aware that children were used as party favors at these events.

May we seek the Lord's justice and judgment for all involved.

Note: Co-conspirators will include individuals, corporations, banks, hotels, pharmaceutical companies and others who profited from these endeavors. This includes those who committed the acts, enabled their engagement, were in the room and didn't intervene, threatened victims and so on.

Just a quick interjection. Remember God raised King Cyrus up right in the midst of evil Babylon. Flash forward to modern times to China - certainly an evil regime. And currently experiencing an amazing revival amongst the country's Christians.

Point? Why wring our hands over the progression of evil in the world and the rise of evil nations? It's not like God's purposes have ever been thwarted. Jesus said He would build His Church and redeem us all on the last day, with not a soul missing.

Rejoice!

Russell Brand's powerful encounter with the Holy Spirit t his baptism. Even the deepest thinkers and ponderers can be silenced in awe of Jesus' superior Words of Wisdom and Grace!

To the OP-

Prayers for his journey learning and growing closer to the Lord. :praying:

It wouldn't surprise me, you've only got to look to see what good buddies they were.
If he did, that was in the past. None of this prevents him from meeting the Lord and becoming a Christian.

Look at the Apostles Paul; persecuted the church and was "the chief of sinners". Look at Ahab in the OT; a weak king, ruled by his wife, who ordered at least one murder.
God met with, and transformed, both these men.

I agree, but I still think there is an alternative motive for his Baptism.

a) it remains to be seen.
b) we have no right to judge.
c) it still sounds like you have a suspicious mind, prepared to believe the worst.
Supposing someone said that to you; "oh she only joined Christian forums so she could spread her conspiracy theories/flat earth nonsense"? How would you feel about that?

Well they'd be half right, the other half was b/c I wanted to learn more about Jesus & the Bible, & flat earth is not nonsense.
