  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Which word, “globalist”? I don’t think I have redefined it
I spelled it with a capital G for a reason.
mean it as the dog whistle term?
What's that?
So that we are talking about the same thing, could you give your favored definition? I suspect that because I asked you will refuse, but I am hoping you will prove me wrong.
U already defined it. You weren't paying attention.
For you, it seems like the so-called Globalists have a hive mind with no variation between one and another.
I said no such thing.
Okay, so?
So here we are.

I was hoping to have a more productive conversation.

Canada probably already has those capabilities.

If russia fired a nuke at NY, the USA would fire a thousand nukes at every russian city, infastructure and military installation.
Don't count on it. The social justice factors would need to be worked out. After all, we supplied so many weapons to Ukraine to use against Russians, and then we get one city nuked by Russia. We just might have to stand down at that point and say, "Maybe retaliation isn't the answer. If we shoot back, they'll nuke us again. So let's just call it even!"
This wouldn't happen under Trump, but under Harris I wouldn't be surprised.

Why not imagine that Harris is a reptiloid trying to sell the USA to mars while you're making stuff up?

That's not hard to imagine (the first part).

If that is the case, perhaps the problem is not Harris, but your imagination.
Since you're the one who suggested imagining her that way, perhaps it's not my imagination that's the problem. ^_^

Actually, as I monitor news from around the world, I find that India, tends to lean more toward a Western bias.
We're not talking about "India" we are talking about a specific YT channel called "Oneindia". (I don't know if "Oneindia" has any presence in other venues.)
They did however recently refuse the US call to sensor RT in their own country.
RT wasn't "sensored" by the US. It was sanctioned by the US Treasury. You can show their content all you want, but you can't engage in financial transactions with them using US banks or companies. (YT obviously had a financial relationship with RT's YT channel as they do with most others on their site. Therefore sanctions applied.)
Maybe I'm just detached enough from succumbing to Western propaganda, that I can see it more clearly.
I'm glad you have such a high opinion of your objectivity. That never goes wrong.
If you monitor Indian News regularly; you will see that they regularly report on American politics, elections, and policies. With Russia, not so much.
I don't monitor Indian anything at all. I'm not sure what you mean about "Russia not so much." I do monitor Russian media and they certainly do pay attention to US politics and news. They have some interesting opinion I often read here...

It doesn't match the content of the video. (I'm not even taking into account that Kyiv is a city and the report, such that it is, is about the whole country.)
Oh well. Who cares? The video goes into more detail of the highly reported fact that Kyiv has lost 80% of its' grid, and Ukraine has lost 50%. The military of course won't be rationing their energy consumption; so this hot spots will become new targets, if this war lasts that long.

I'm talking about India, I see continuity in the overall narrative withing that nation. If you see a major contrast; feel free to give examples.

What's the difference, since I can no longer find a platform that plays their content outside of the US?

I mean seriously, are you going to start spitting these tiny hairs?

Oh you can sell your product all day long. You just can't accept any money. LOL!

Fortunately India stood for free speech.

What I mean is that in my experience, India pays more attention to American politics than Russian.

I spelled it with a capital G for a reason.
Okay, what reason?

What's that?
Dog whistle defined: What's the Political Meaning of 'Dog Whistle'?
Figuratively, a 'dog whistle' is a coded message communicated through words or phrases commonly understood by a particular group of people, but not by others.
Dog whistle explained: Dog whistle (politics) - Wikipedia

U already defined it. You weren't paying attention.
Welp, you didn't prove me wrong. That is not helpful at all. You claimed that I "redefined" it so what is the unredefined meaning? What I'm asking for is the definition you are using so we can be referring to the same thing. Since you have declined, we may be talking about entirely different things. Is this intentional?

I said no such thing.
Implied when you attribute a single way of being to an entire group.

So here we are.
What a surprise.

I was hoping to have a more productive conversation.
Answering a request for clarification with actual clarification might lead to that....but I'm not holding my breath.

I looked at over a dozen articles from recognizable press sources. I couldn't find any backing for this 80% claim from the video. Do you know of one?

1. Militaries use generators.
2. What kind of "hot spots"? Thermal? Electrical usage? Does Russia have the sensors to find these "targets"? Do they stick out more than "hot spots" in the front region where the civilians are all gone?
3. I doubt Putin will surrender that soon.

I find that they tend to be more fact focused than American media.

I like that. I can come up with my own opinions.
Not the Russian media I see. It is pure propaganda.

Energy Minister: Russia damaged 80% of Ukraine’s thermal power plants, half of hydroelectric ones

As reported by Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne, Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko highlighted the severity of the situation during a meeting with his Danish counterpart, Lars Aagaard, in Kyiv on 8 April, stating that the ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy system are the most extensive to date, with a large number of substations targeted, affecting the transmission of electricity.

“This is the largest attack, and it is happening every night,” he said.

Зараз українська енергосистема переживає наймасштабнішу атаку з боку Росії, повідомив міністр енергетики України Герман Галущенко. До 80% теплової генерації було атаковано росіянами. Більша половина гідрогенерації. І велика кількість підстанцій.

Translation:

Currently, the Ukrainian energy system is experiencing the largest attack from Russia, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko said. Up to 80% of thermal generation was attacked by the Russians. Most of the hydrogen generation. And a large number of substations.

Still there will be scoffers.

I don't know. I'm just going by what an ex-CIA guy said. Who knows what they have?

I doubt Putin will surrender that soon.
Maybe you didn't get the memo. Putin said if there is no Russia, there is no world. I have no reason to doubt him.

Surrendering to inferior forces would be foolish of him.

I'm pretty sure that he's smarter than that. Unfortunately Ukrainians are losing their lives in huge numbers as NATO plays this losing game with their lives.

Well at least it was something with an 80%. Not Kyiv, not "grid", but "thermal power plants (the term Ukraine uses for fossil fuel plants, as opposed to nuclear or hydro (translated as "hydrogen"). I should note that this is almost 6 months ago and doesn't account for intervening repairs (or attacks). I still find the "oneindia" report to be sloppy and unreliable. It seemed like it was composed and read by an AI.

Euromaidan Press is a pretty good English language site for news from Ukraine itself.
