  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The husband of our vice president is telling men to "step up" to defend the right to kill a child. Real men will see through this evil charade.

I could make exceptions in the case of rape (I couldn't do it but I know that some women could and that's such a small percentage of abortions, I could make an exception), the life of the mother, and incest (another very small percentage of abortions, see my remarks). Oh, and for young teens and below. Like 14 and below.

I referred you to my signature, which contains a quote from an authoritative source.

It's not authoritative if it's not explanatory in a comprehensive manner (ala any secular university today). Whatever was being "thought" about abortion by Christians in the 1960s and 1970s isn't definitive. But historically and carefully studying the entire scope of Christian Though over the last 2,000 years probably does offer (does offer) are more robust insight as to what Christians have thought and as to what and why they should probably think one way about this issue rather than another ...

And that's why, with my own quote in my own signature, I offered earlier the link that I did. Here's that link again as a starting point for inquiry....

You said you were “not trying to force anything”.
Ban it because it kills someone.

Forcing people not to kill each other is wrong?

I don’t think so

That’s just his view from an earlier time. He doesn’t speak for all Christians.

I knew there was actual data. It wasn't so hard now was it?

Right now you seem intent on voiding that respect. I don't know why.

It is the conclusion I came to once freed of religious dogma.

Agreed. This is finished.

Yeah. Maybe we should just stick to discussing Physics on some other thread. This topic wears me out.

@Hammster and @RileyG, this is where my train stops.

Most folks take into account the fact that people, particularly women, are victimized every day and they shouldn't have to endure further psychological victimization.

Of course, I may be biased since my own mother was raped at the age of 5 by three teenage boys. While she obviously couldn't have been impregnated, I sometimes ponder what would have happened to her fragile state of mind if it had instead happened at the age of 15.

So, unless you're professionals in the area of human psychology and well-being, I think we need to infuse our theological appraisal of the abortion problem holistically with the entirety of what Christ wants us to apply in an interdisciplinary, multi-faceted and mindful approach. That way, our attempts to propose and uphold all that is Holy in our faith aren't undermined by contradictions that come as a failure to apply mercy, grace, compassion, understanding and love for those who are truly victims.
So you are saying that we should murder babies because of rape? That doesn’t seem right.

This marks the end of this culture. Of course, you cannot force women to have children. That is as barbaric as killing the child in the womb. So, there is no solution but to allow it all to fall. Prepare for the end of the culture and devise a soft landing where women love children enough to have them, men are willing to love and support their families, and a culture that will facilitate a civil and human system that does not lend itself to another round of self-destruction.
It is called the return of Jesus and His millennial rule. Human nature and human government will simply bring us back to the place where we are destroying civilization and possibly the human race.

A ban requires the use of force.
Yeah, so? We ban plenty of illegal activities. Forcing someone to not harm someone else isn’t bad. To be fair. Maybe I’m contradicting myself, but i remain consistent.

I’m confused. Can you elaborate?

Allow it to happen because Jesus is returning soon? Do I understand you correctly? Or am I missing something?

You said you didn’t want to force anyone. How do you square the of wanting a ban but not wanting force used?

I see…
If it harms others, then yes, it should be forcibly banned.

I am just saying there is no way to resolve this situation. Only the return of Christ will fix all this. :prayer:

That’s true, but that doesn’t diminish human responsibility. The little ones deserve a right to life and protection inside their mothers womb.
