  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I’m voting for Trump because he’s a white man.

I hear your points about Christianity, and yes, someone such as a neighbor should not have introduced you to Christianity when you were in junior high, as a lot of junior high students can be a little, how can I put it, they like to go their own way and buck the norms.

Well don't blame him lol. I think he was just asking me honestly about what church I went to and when he learned that I hadn't ever been to church...he was sort of shocked and afraid for my eternal soul. He had good intentions.

Trust me, I was like that as well, but at age 12 to just a few years ago in my late teens ;). My parents raised me Christian, without forcing it down my throat, and now my faith is stronger than ever.

That's great.

From a Christian brother to an atheist, I care deeply about you, cos we both have very similar ideas on how our world is getting worse, and that the Bible describes that the current days were predicted nearly 2000 years ago or more. Plus as an aside, I believe in an old Earth that is billions of years old and trust in science as well (Psalm 111:2), so not all Christians believe in a young Earth. Christians come in many flavors, denominations, and individual interpretations of certain parts of Old Testament scriptures and Revelation. The OT and Revelation are pretty complicated, so that is why I stick to the New Testament mostly.

It's not really a science thing. Science matters of course, but it's more of a faith thing.

I. Life Anecdote:
Bro, in just 3-5 years of my life, we went from a society that had less woke stuff, to now an overload of woke stuff. Yes, there were woke moments in the past, but it seems like everything is going woke. Already ruined my favorite TV franchises such as Doctor Who and Star Trek. You can check my Lust Month (June) rant here about which franchises got ruined in 2023-2024: Lust Month is finally over

The short explanation for that is Marxism. I don’t like bringing up the word because people don't understand it and it becomes a bit of a cliche....but Marxism is inherently a destructive sort of political religion.

We had Marxists in this nation, the same way we had fascists....but during the cold war, Marxists were pushed out of legitimate careers and into the only places they could spread their religion....academia.

That's where these Marxists have been. They're behind all these "critical" theories and activist movements. There are exceptions like most environmental movements, but most social movements are either Marxist or their "useful idiots".

II. Later Days (1 Tim 4)
This verse from 1 Timothy 4 below reminds me of what happened at the 2024 Olympics/opening ceremony. Yes, I am pro-environment up to an extent (my A/C smart thermostat is set to 79 F during the day, 74 at night, and I use LED lighting), but the Olympics went overboard. For instance, Paris Olympic officials attempted to offer more plant-based foods in an effort to reduce the Games' carbon footprint. While there is a variety of cuisine available to accommodate the tastes of different countries — and an abundance of baguettes in France — vegan meals aren't in line with what the athletes prefer to eat while competing.

I saw that.

Also, in 2024, it is harder to get married for some people, as a lot of people prefer to be single, though the first part of the verse could refer to Gnosticism, a heretical denomination that was common for the first three centuries AD. I am not a theologian, so I can not explain Gnosticism.

Uh...the easiest way to understand Gnosticism is it's intentionally vague and it proposes a God that hates you.

The verse:
1 Timothy 4:1-6: "The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed."

To be fair...most religions have standards regarding who can and cannot marry and what should and should not be food.

III. Signs of the Times (Matt 24):
Finally, Jesus says in Matthew 24, some signs of the times. There will be more wars, nations rise against nations, more droughts, and more quakes. This is completely normal, and is expected due to the advancements in military technology. Before 1914, there was no war that was ever fought on a global scale,

WW1 wasn't really global in scale....not the way WW2 was. Even then, WW2 wasn't fought throughout Africa and South America.

as we did not the technology to facilitate the logistics of sending and communicating with troops in other locations in a short period of time. Radio telegraphy played a role in allowing the war to be fought internationally, according to the Smithsonian.

WWI tech explained + bonus art material from the Smithsonian:
More quakes are happening due to fracking: Earthquakes in Texas doubled in 2021. Scientists cite years of oil companies injecting sludgy water underground.
WWII was the second global war, and where multiple nations rose against each other, same with WWI: World War II - Wikipedia
More famines due to global warming, including in Madagascar in 2021 (article contains images of starving children, viewer discretion advised): Madagascar on the brink of climate change-induced famine

Sure...famine is coming. Unlike in 1914...and the decades after, science doesn’t believe it can be prevented.

Source:

The verse:
Matthew 24:4-8 (NIV): "Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains."

Again, many religions believe in a global war. The end in Christianity is a sort of spiritual war made real in the returning of Christ. The Muslims believe in a worldwide caliphate that is both real and political and spiritual. The Jewish people have their coming messiah. The Norse had Ragnarock, and so many others beyond count....

I think it's natural to see things as a story...because we imbue stories with meaning. Stories also have an end....and to many writers of religious stories, this takes the shape of good (their religion) triumphant over evil (as described by their religion).

But I'm not trying to argue these things with you...ultimately, we will believe as we believe...and can't easily change.

Look up the impact of Newt Gringrich. He is largely responsible for the adversarial nastiness in American politics.
Gingrich took Bill Clinton's Campaign promises (welfare reform, 3 strikes and you're out, etc) and put them on the floor for a vote, forcing him to say "the era of big government is over".

Gotcha.

Well....

Is that racism? I'd agree that it may be...because whenever we consider white people who think race is an important part of their identity...we inevitably think of racists regardless of whether we're talking about the conservative right arguing for segregation....or the modern left arguing for segregation and racial quotas.

But for other races it's often seen as perfectly normal and not at all racist to be proud of your race and believe your racial identity is important.

I'll mull it over @AlexB23
Amen to that. We both believe that society should be color blind. :) Regardless of party, both sides talk about race, albeit in different ways, the exact ways you describe. In other words, both parties have the capability to be racist, or hyperfocused on skin colors. Even schools focus on race, though, when I was in school, it was not so bad. Nowadays, one college campus, the UCLA of California, even had segregation as late as the year 2023 for a woke class. None of the left-wing media is talking about this, cos they are too afraid to speak out against the woke agenda. Yes, I do not like Fox for most things, as the BBC, WSJ and AP News are better, but the article is on Fox. In other words, I use a mixture of news sources ranging from the center left up to the moderate right and ones that are just plain old moderate.

Quote from Fox: "First year students in a required course entitled "Structural Racism and Health Equity" were told to divide up into racial groups and discuss antiracist prompts. Students were directed to group themselves in either the "White student caucus group," the "Non-Black People of Color (NBPOC) student caucus group" or the "Black student caucus group," the WSJ editorial board said."

Fox News article on UCLA segregation in 2023:

Also, thank you for thinking about mulling the Christianity faith over. Most of your posts align with moderate/center-right Christian ideals, and I like that about you. I have faith in you, man.

Lol filthy hypocrites.
Yep, at one point in time, these organizations were good, but then the 2020s arrived, and everything skewed far left. I thought these organizations were supposed to protect civil rights for all people, and not just the far-left. If I donate to an organization, I donate to one that helps people get electricity and/or food, and might even donate to a Christian one in the future, instead of an organization promoting this LGTV stuff.

And of course, Doctors Without Borders should have a floating island or orbiting space station as an HQ, cos then there would be no borders in the middle of the ocean or the middle of space.

It just seems that the wars are getting worse. We have something as a human civilization in 2024, that at no point in time of 10,000 years of Holocene history did we ever have: Nuclear warheads. There could be a potential for massive devastation unforeseen in human history, and the history of all wars. The Jewish faith and Christian faith are pretty tight knit, so no wonder why both faiths have a similar end times.

I. Self Worship - Idolatry in 2024:
About Gnosticism, it is classified as heresy in the Christian faith, so it is good that we both stay far from that stuff. And yes, most religions have standard about marriage. But, doesn't it seem that the woke agenda is almost a religion in itself, worshiping skin color and DQs (drag) on stages, or having taxes pay for rainbow crosswalks? If the future goes wrong, a woke society could potentially make it really difficult for anyone to marry. That rainbow crosswalk thing is like the 21st century version of Marxism, but 10x worse, and not benefitting a single person. It is okay to share resources for maybe improving infrastructure and helping the poor get clothes, but it is not okay to use those resources to spread gay stuff around to children. Gross... It seems that the far-left enjoys worshiping itself.

Is Woke the New Religion of the 2020s - Opinion Piece:

Also, notice how most of the LGTV stuff became very blatant in 2022-2024? Coincidence? I think not.

Taxpayer money wasted (2024):

II. My Generation has fallen off the deep end:
Already, Gen Z is gay, with 1 in 3 Gen Z women being LGTV, and 1 in 5 guys identifying as LGTV according to a 2023 Gallup poll. So, how will straight Gen Z women, or straight young guys especially find a partner? Also, with more women being gay compared to guys, that means in a worst-case scenario, guys who want to marry women would run out of women to marry. Also, according to a June 2012 study by the Guttmacher Institute, gay males are 2.3-6.9x more likely to receive an STD compared to straight male counterparts. Keep that stuff to one partner guys, or better yet, guys should marry a woman.

I am an older Gen Z (24 here), and prefer to be single, but this makes me disgusted at my own generation for falling for this gay stuff. We are in the midst of a great falling away, man. Heck, even I struggled with this stuff before praying to God more.

2023 Gallup survey - Gen Z is gay:

III. Good over evil
But yes, good will prevail over evil, and there are signs of that. First off, we are globalized as a world (which can be a bad thing or good thing), so that means Christians can spread the gospel to many individuals, or donate to different humanitarian aid organizations around the globe at the push of a button online.

In all seriousness...losing the ACLU was genuinely disappointing. You'd think a bunch of civil rights lawyers would understand civil rights.

Yep, that was a sad day. Remember when civil rights was classy back in the second half of the 20th century up through the 2000s? Nowadays in the 2020s, it is all about getting the DQs onto the stage. Just look at my Olympics thread. I had to shut that thread down cos the left kept on spamming that thread. I do not want half naked people on my television, especially not DQs (drag).

For the Doctors Without Borders, we can picture the organization breaking through border crossings illegally. ;) Just messin' with you brother.

Anyways, it is getting late here, and I have to go to church tomorrow, so talk later bro. God bless.

When I say Marxism...I mean it quite literally. The Communist Manifesto is less than 60 pages long (my copy anyway) and if you think some amazing economic text was written that quickly by a German drunk.....no.

The original title was "The Communist Confession of Faith" and it's not about economics lol. It's a religious tract...essentially...and it's about 85%-95% mysticism and prophesy. Imagine you're a socialist...and you're realizing that you can't really sell anyone on the idea because economics is boring and every real socialist that tries to make socialism work on a small scale fails. You have a small secret society of mostly over educated upper middle class losers who hate the idea of working for a living. What do you do in a world that's increasingly rational and scientific? Make a religion for the masses. Promise them a utopian heaven. Push them to rebel against the status quo.....place yourself as a new pope of this political religion. You may not succeed....but at least you'll be in power.

That's what it is....and I'm sure you've heard what the true believers say....

Real communism has never been tried.
The people who ruin societies weren't really communists/socialists.
If people could just gain a completely different way of seeing everything....this would work.

It doesn't matter if we're talking about the racial oppressors, the bourgeoisie, the patriarchy, heteronormativity, the terfs, the counter-revolutionaries, the traditionalists, the aristocracy, or whomever....

The formula is pretty simple.

Make small problems big. The police kill 12 unarmed black men a year??? It should be zero. They should be perfect. They make how much money more than you a year? That's not equality. They're lying about society. They won't use the pronouns you made up? That's basically erasure. That's genocide.

Build resentment by appealing to entitlement. Everyone before you had built all this stuff and got nothing for it....you deserve everything for free. You see those happy people? They're blinded and hypnotized. They'd be miserable if they weren't so foolish. You should get everything for free.

In group/out group dynamics should always be emphasized and the out group always blamed. It's never the failure of the in group. It's always an out group problem.

Shun debate, silence dissent. Don't ever give a voice to any opposition....that just gives it legitimacy and causes harm. Don't consider nuance or circumstance. Don't ever engage in analyzing of ideas. Attack character, claim moral superiority.

That's the Marxist formula in a nutshell. It's adaptable to any situation. Once in power, obviously the people it turns on are the faithful. Why? They know the formula. Ever heard the saying "you can vote socialists in...but you can't vote them out"? It's a cynical power grab....there's no plan for after power is grabbed.

It's not just religious in nature...it worships a world that doesn't exist.....it believes in a supernatural person that doesn't exist. It's a social recipe for rebellion. It creates a nightmare society where everyone lies to everyone all the time. Truth is it's constant enemy.

I wouldn't worry about it. Marxists actually have to usurp power to get anywhere significantly. It can't baby step it's way to victory because it just becomes increasingly obvious that those it places in charge are failures. Zealots without wisdom.

It is getting late here, but I will talk this afternoon. At least we both believe that Marxism is pretty sickening stuff, especially the 21st century version of it. About war tech, a nuke can kill 100,000 in nearly an instant, while a Balearic sling would only kill a few people. I am blessed to not have seen anything about the White Fragility, but just looked her up. Eww, racism runs rampant in 2024, brought on by the woke ideologies of the past half-decade. 2018 was the first year where I have noticed wokeness, and it only has gotten worse since 2022 or so. Like bro, I am only 24. What will happen when I am 44, or 64? Will we have humans identifying as cows by 2044 with weird pronoun junk such as beef/beefs/beef-self?

Yes, the Dems seem to blow small problems out of proportion, it seems. By the way, there is a video* that I have for you to watch on Marxism, and how the communist manifesto does not align with Christian values. The far-left are blinded to the real issues, such as protecting the middle class, and the poor, and freedom of religion. They want to put parents in jail who do not accept their own children's pronouns. This pronoun junk has got to go. Remember 2012, when times were simpler, without this pronoun junk? It's 1940s Germany all over again, but instead, the Christians are getting put in jail.

Canada has gone woke, but luckily by the grace of God, this father was released from jail:

*The Dark Side of Socialism by Vlad Savchuk (Ukrainian-American pastor, non-denominational):

Video transcript summary:
Pastor Vlad Savchuk delivers a sermon on socialism, addressing its core beliefs and countering them with biblical teachings. He begins by sharing a personal story of being duped into buying a counterfeit iPhone, illustrating how not everything that seems like a good deal is truly a blessing.
Savchuk then delves into the topic of socialism, explaining that it presents a utopian vision of eliminating poverty and greed by taking away property ownership. He cites a Gallup poll and a Harvard Kennedy School poll indicating that a majority of young adults view socialism positively.

The pastor links this sentiment to factors such as excessive student debt, liberal views, and dissatisfaction with the current economic system, which is perceived as driven by greed and excess. The pastor highlights that the Scandinavian countries, often used as examples of successful socialism, still operate with a capitalist structure, charging high taxes to fund their social programs. He argues that free stuff is an illusion, as even countries with supposedly free services, like healthcare in Ukraine, often require bribes. The pastor warns that socialism is a demonic lie, aiming to strip individuals of their God-given freedom and liberty.

Savchuk provides seven reasons why socialism is not in line with biblical teachings:
  1. Socialism denies the existence of God.
  2. Socialism professes that humans are good, while the Bible teaches that humans are sinful.
  3. Socialism places the government as the final authority, whereas the Bible establishes God as the ultimate authority.
  4. Socialism claims that children belong to the state, not parents, contradicting the Bible's emphasis on parental responsibility.
  5. Socialism aims to make all people equal in wealth, while the Bible acknowledges differences in abilities and value.
  6. Socialism shares the product of one's labor with those who have not labored, while the Bible rewards hard work, not laziness.
  7. Socialism eliminates private property, while the Bible teaches that things should not own us.
The pastor refutes the notion that the early church was socialist by pointing out that the communal living described in the book of Acts was voluntary and temporary, not a standard for all Christians. He encourages Christians who are rich to trust in God, not their wealth, and be generous in sharing their resources with others. Finally, he emphasizes that only God can change hearts and produce true generosity, unlike forced government programs.

Socialism isn't easily placed in a single one-size fits all box....largely because it never quite successfully leaves the world of theoretical ideas and crosses into the world of practical application.

It's not difficult to understand how it arose though...you have a time and place where monarchies are weakening and falling....scientific and rational studies and disciplines of how the world works are increasingly popping up and it's not entirely obvious to anyone which ones are valid and which are bogus. It's increasingly obvious to everyone that when Adam Smith described the basic principles of economics and tied them to very human and basic motivations both emotional and rational, he wasn't just onto something....he was more accurately and correctly describing these things than anyone else at his time.

Still, whether you describe it as "rational self interest" or "greed" the implications were pretty clear... those making more money than you did so because they were better at it than you were. Obviously, this doesn't sit well with a lot of people from kings to peasants....particularly the educated children of the upper middle class and lower upper class. They felt they should be wealthy and powerful....but certainly weren't interested in doing the work necessary for such wealth and power.

No socialist book embodies this better...

I'm all for this.

Quote from the book..................

Working too many hours a day is often degrading, while working very few hours can be very refreshing and enriching, leading to general advancement, health, joy, and satisfaction. He is also polemical against human rights, and instead prefers the right to be lazy

Eww. Horrible stuff... Burn that merch, burn that merch. That gear is not Christian, it is of Satan.

No wonder why Christianity gets so much hate, cos the devil uses politics (regardless of side) to advance his own kingdom of darkness. The devil has gotten a hold of some people already, just like he did for Hitler in the 1940s, or Mao in the 1950s, and Xi in the 2010s-2020s. Satan's next target is to gather both parties, and pit them against each other to divide the US, and make Christianity into a religion of hypocrisy.

Jesus is probably eager to return and put an end to this racist stuff. God does not care about skin color at all (Galatians 3:28), and both the far-right and the far-left only seem to focus on skin color.

Why? Can’t white people support Trump?

I have tried Adam Smith, but he was a little too complex, but from the first few chapters, it seemed that he was right on about our economy. There is a Biblical reason why socialism fails. We live in a fallen world. When leaders get into power, regardless of economic viewpoint, the leaders become greedy. Whether one is a king, president, chairman, socialist, capitalist, or something in between, greed abounds.

There is a common adage "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." This statement is so true in modern society, and especially in societies of old, such as during the feudal system of the Middle Ages.

Why? Can’t white people support Trump?
Well, we can get rid of the term white, and just say, can't people in general (white, black, brown, Chinese-American, Jewish, Klingon-American), regardless of skin color support Trump?

Why does one have to be so obsessed in the melanin concentration, or lack thereof in one's skin? Already, the far-left is obsessed with skin color (just look at DEI in universities), and now it seems that Trump supporters obsess about skin color. If Jesus did not discuss skin color, then we Christians should not discuss skin color as well. So, if one does not want to even have any similarities with the far-left, then one must drop race from the conversation, and focus on merits instead.

(I am by no means a supporter of any of the two politicians we have in 2024, but was using that as an example)
