  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why is there so much hatred and perverted pornography and over stimulating garbage on the internet ?

In the west civilization began in Mesopotamia between the Tigris and Euphrates river. In China The Yellow River Valley, also known as the Huang He Valley, is considered the birthplace of ancient Chinese civilization. The valley is home to northern China's main river and is at the center of thousands of years of Chinese history. The areas around China's second-longest river were also home to the oldest dynasties of ancient China.
That totally sounds like and answer from ChatGP.

Humans aren't animals that's a lame excuse to excuse evil behavior.
Yeah we are.

Characteristics of kingdom Animalia:
  1. They can move and so have locomotion.
  2. They lack a cell wall and plastids.
  3. They are heterotrophic since they cannot prepare their own food.
  4. They have excretory and sensory organs, as well as a neurological system.
  5. Reproduction is generally sexual.
  6. Example: Pleurobrachia, Hookworm, apple snails, turtles, peacocks, and humans.

ONLY God can make it work so we HAVE to trust in HIM>
I have a good marriage because with God's help she is able to put up with what I put her through.
Never thought of changing to be a better spouse?

You are an atheist, so you do not understand that there is a dark spiritual element to this, my brother. But yes, it is mainly capitalism.
It’s not that I don’t understand the concept of a spiritual element. There’s just no evidence that uniquely points to a spiritual element.

There is a lot in the Bible about how we need to overcome the flesh and our carnal nature.
Here lies the biggest problem with Christians when they use bible verbiage when talking to nonChristians. The Bible is a spiritual truth for Christians only. If I was a non-Christian I would think you were lunatics also. As far as I know our communication toward non-Christian should be the gospel of Christ. Unless I read this verse wrong?

1Co 2:14
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.

It is filtered, you have to turn the filter off to see that garbage. The government does not regulate it because the supreme court is corrupt. At one time there was a lot of money in porn. Hustler magazine was able to convince the court to make it legal so they could make their money off of it.

Dan Coats got the Senate, Congress and the President to agree on a law to control porn on the internet but the supreme court struck it down because they say it is free speech.
This is the law of the land. First Amendment rights aren't just for Christians. Of course, everything is corrupt because you don't understand liberty. I think the biggest problem is lies (who is the father of lies?) that manipulate us from the media. What have you or your church done about that for the last twenty years?

True, and I agree with you there. It is multiple factors. I'd say majority from greed and capitalism, and a smaller fraction that is spiritual. Almost everything in life is due to multiple factors and variables.

They always dig up something to put us on the front page of the newspaper for the latest scandal. The pastor will admit to nothing and he will not give them ammo to shoot at him with. Sometimes he will not even give them an interview.

He owned a buffet restaurant that the government investigated. It had nothing to do with the church but it was something that was front page news for a long time. He finally got tired of it and shut the restaurant down. Which is a shame because they use to serve a lot of people. Esp for holidays and mothers day. It was one of the best in the area but it is gone now because that was their way to mess with the church.

Is this possible because we stirred up hate by our language about sin, the turn-or-burn message? Like Adam, we still like to blame not recognizing our faults in this tribal warfare.

The stuff the media dug up was a lie? Again what have you or your church done about this?

It is what you call a gray area. One of the associate pastors left the church. He wanted a cash settlement and eventually the pastor did settle out of court and gave him $200,000 settlement rather than to fight him in court.

The situation with the restaurant is there were young people working there as volunteers. The government told him he could not have volunteers working in a commercial buffet restaurant. His response was that he closed it down.

That does not even get into the pastor before him and all the issues he had with the press and his public image. I knew his daughter because I use to ride the school bus with her. Later on, I noticed that she had a few albums. I did not know she sang in the church.

My mom was always very good at presenting a good public image. IF my dad or our family was written up in the newspaper it was always positive and not the negative stuff other people have to deal with. My dad had hundreds of articles written about him over the years.

I grew up before the Internet. Porn was easily available in print form. Teenagers had it. Adults had it. Why would you expect it to change when publication moved online? I worry more about political, conflict. Again, going back to when I grew up, most people watched network news. Lots of things could be said about it, but it didn’t incite hatred, and there was some fact checking. Social media seems to encourage extremism. But that’s not entirely an online development either. Talk radio had already moved pretty far in that direction.

Ok, now the truth is coming out. I thought this had something to do with baking a cake for a gay marriage or something. You made it sound as if they were going after him because he was Christian but he got paid. I wish I owned a buffet.

I agree with the statement that news media, too much sensationlism. Again what are you and your church doing about this problem besides complaining about it on a forum? Have you written your congressman or has your church or the organization taken any media to court because of the lies/half-truths?

Yep, With three networks you could keep up with the lies but today how can anyone keep up with what's feeding our kids? I personally think that technology is messing up the kids with too much stimulation. But I fear my grandkids because they are exposed to it earlier than Millenials.

Just to let you know why my name is Laodicean is because I believe my boomer generation caused the mess and I didn't snap, 30 years too late. Cold on some issues and hot on others. Try to remember when you went to your trusted news source if you're a boomer. It was then that Christian should have spoken up but I was too busy chasing ghosts in my spirituality. I can't say this to a millennial because we created this mess and they grew up in it.

You guys keep quoting ( over and over)
that " natural man" thing as if it assures one and all
of your superior wisdom.

To this I ask;

Of what use is this route to Superior Knowledge
when it leads to belief in the Truth of a world wide
flood?

No, You feel that it means superior knowledge. From a Christian point of view, we feel it's a spiritual teaching from scripture. Where I have superior wisdom is over my kids.
