  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sounds bad but after-school programs can be Christian, Muslim, and Satanic. I know it sounds bad coming from a Christian but those people have constitutional rights also. If the school broke the law then they should be punished.
I prefer no religion in school. Because of these reasons. Religion's can be taught in home, church's or elsewhere. I have a problem, that anyone would want Satan clubs for school.

Who, the Kremlin? Because that's the only group that both Tucker and Trump have been accused of working for. (Both just seem to be motivated by self-interest and don't seem to have actual "paymasters". Just for clarity.)

It doesn't matter who they are. We know people get harmed when they talk. When we hear this one is revealing this or fighting that with no hardship we should ask the question. Maybe they aren't revealing as much as we believe or what they said isn't true.

That's why we warn christians against pushing for religion in schools.
Honestly, I have no objection to genuinely student-led groups meeting at schools. Stamp-collecting, Shakespeare, voodoo. Whatever.

It will blow up in your face and open the door for others like this.
I mean yes, you can 'cut off your nose to spite your face' by forbidding all groups from meeting.

Due to pressure from Christian groups, Congress passed the Equal Access Act, which allows, well, equal access to religious groups on the same basis as nonreligious groups. So schools must either ban all clubs, or allow all clubs.

Section IV

'the Equal Access Act, 20 U.S.C. § 4071, is designed to ensure that student religious activities are accorded the same access to Federally funded public secondary school facilities as are student secular activities.'

Christians rarely look ahead. They delight in their victory without considering the cause from different angles. Linear thinking isn't the norm that's why they can't anticipate complications like the satan club. It's better to leave it alone than rock the boat and complain later.

Conspiracy theories about unnamed and unknown "they" are always the easiest to "defend" and the simplest to dismiss as nonsense.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) has reached a settlement on behalf of The Satanic Temple in a federal lawsuit filed in March against Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) over “serious” First Amendment violations.

the district assessed a “special security fee” of over $2,000 against the group and $250 for “field lights,” both fees that other organizations meeting regularly at the school were never charged.

The Temple paid the fees, and on January 10, the first After School Satan Club was held at Chimneyrock Elementary.

[But with the settlement] MSCS agreed the Temple is subject to the same rules and requirements as other nonprofit organizations seeking to rent or use the school’s facilities and vowed not to hold any more press conferences about the club.

Well, the Constitution doesn't, so perhaps in time you can learn to enjoy the diversity of freedom that it allows.

The Constitution forbids the state from banning Satanism, and it bans the state from imposing Satanism. The opposite of mandatory is not forbidden. The opposite of both is 'allowed'. Let's enjoy everybody's freedom to do as they like in the sphere of religion.

No - I will always have a problem with Satan. I don't care if people worship him or whatever. He still hates us and wants to destroy our souls.

I’m fairly certain that Satanists don’t worship the Bad Guy in your Holy Book, rather the concept that maybe if we lived like God didn’t exist He would take the hint and go away.

They may not worship him - but they live as if they did.

Being delusional is all Satan is about.

It is our reality. And without opposition we would not have our agency.
And if there’s no “Anybody” and “Anti-Anybody” out there…what?
Why is that “bad”?

We wouldn't exist. There would just be nothing. That is reality.

I was nonexistent for billions of years and greatly look forward to not existing again for countless eons.
Enjoy heaven, though. I’m sure it’ll be swell.

You have always existed in some form, and you always will.
