  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biden’s recent statement to donors saying “it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”

How about the hypocrisy of the left being SO upset over Trump telling his folks to fight, despite the word being used by political people for decades and then turning around and defending Biden for talking about it being time to put Trump in the bullseye. I'm just so over the hypocrisy. You guys started it with Trump and then dare to act offended when we turn it around on you? Give me a break.
Hypocrisy is it? Trump went on and on about marching up the avenue to fight like [heck] or they wouldn’t have a country left andwithin minutes the crowd did just that.

Probably because when Mr Trump implored his gullibles to fight like hell they proceeded to do his bidding and attacked our Capitol! The word was used peacefully by politicians for decades BEFORE Donald Trump. This is another fringe benefit he's brought into our lives. Precedents are now a thing of the past after Donald Trump.

You want to hear another hypothesis? I think Donald wanted to go to the Capitol to watch his legion build the gallows to hold his own vice president. I know he wouldn't possibly help them lift a finger to work on it but he wanted to SEE it. You seem to have no clue about the guy you vociferously defend. Or why many of y'all are inspired to act like spoiled brats just like Donald.

I can see the changes in members here after seven or eight years of Donald Trump being in the political scene. It's not hard to see his influence on his followers. I started nothing with Donald Trump so you can leave me out of your silly blame games. Every American has played a role in allowing our society to devolve into this violent, angry cesspool. Maybe we should elect some competent politicians to actually lead America back to prosperity? Or if you insist, we can kill America the hard and painful way. And it seems you can do nothing but insist on voting for the man who is instrumental to our doom. Have at it. I don't know how you can possibly dig your heels in any further but y'all seem hell bent on trying. So stop pretending you are against the political violence while you simultaneously argue in favor of the guy who has exacerbated the violence the likes of which the world has rarely seen before. That is the hypocrisy of which I will continue to speaking against.

You bought Donald Trump as is this time and that means you have also bought and endorse everything this man brings to our table. We don't need it or want it. By a fairly large majority. But if your tribalism is that powerful and strong, dig in. Harden your heart and mind. Nothing matters but the R winning the presidency. The internal damage to innocent Americans is inconsequential now. Gotta win Gotta win Gotta win! Go get em...er us. It's still a free country yet...it's just that people like me are not going to sit and watch the nonsense any longer. I might never vote again, but I won't sit and watch a cult leader ruin my country without opposing the absolute insanity of it. I don't sleep much anyhow. I'll be ready.

Yeah, just like trumpers ignore the fact they already endorse political violence if they are still willing to vote for Mr Trump as president again. Have you forgotten about January 6th? That "wild" event kinda let the political violence cat out of the bag. By endorsing the man who incited that political violence you have endorsed this behavior. I know it's uncomfortable for y'all but it's a fact.

Those who choose to live by the sword will probably die by that sword. So you have a choice to put away the sword (Trump) No? = You choose this political violence. It really is that simple. If you can't detach from Mr Trump you cannot detach yourself from the accompanying political violence. Maybe that is what frightens people. They are realizing how attached they have become to the violence. It's an epidemic apparently. Maybe the violence is what people craved all throughout this Trump movement. It's so difficult to understand for Trump fans and detractors alike.

I'm still waiting for someone to show us something that could empirically show how in the world Donald Trump is worth destroying America for. Seriously. There's strong feelings sure, but little in the way of evidence that might demonstrate how Mr Trump's value is above the value of our well established leading democracy in the world. Americans are a terribly selfish lot in this 21st century. It might be our doom. I wish more Americans cared about the real possibility of losing our republic. Many of our loved ones sacrificed their lives for us and our offspring to enjoy our freedoms. It seems flabbergasting that some Americans are willing to give it up for one man to win one election. The selfishness is appalling to me.
Jan 6 was a farce. A total hoax. No attempt to "insurrection" anything.
A bullet to the head of a presidential candidate cannot be hoaxed away... though some tic-toc liberal fanatics have actually tried to say it is all a set-up.
90% percent of what you said is straight from MSM baloney. "Threat to democracy" (as democrats attempt to find some way to rid themselves of their own candidate." Get your head out of CNN, MSNBC, and Newsweek. They make people want to shoot people. That is still bad I think.

I was a Christian for 44 years. I'm familiar. Matt 24:24 is even better.
Was is the operative word here.
So when has Trump declared himself a 'prophet or messiah'? Maybe just in your own mind?(which IS kinda scary)

See here it is...Won't give it up. Put the guy in jail.
The convicted felon, adjudicated sexual assaulter, alleged document thief and indicted conspirator belongs in jail or, at the very least, house confinement.

After January 6th it is clear many trumpers accept political violence.
Uh.....what 'political' violence occurred on Jan 6th?
This.....
1721005105073.jpeg

Violence begets more violence.
Violence as in riots such as this:
1721004816566.jpeg

The FBI and ATF tracked 164 structure fires from arson that occurred May 27–30, 2020, during the George Floyd protests in Minneapolis–Saint Paul.[2][1] Rioters started fires by igniting flammable materials within or next to buildings and in some cases by deploying Molotov cocktails.[3][4] Property locations were damaged by spreading flames, heat, and smoke, and by suppressant waters from fire hoses and fire sprinkler systems. Many of the impacted structures suffered heavy damage or were destroyed, with some being reduced to piles of rubble after collapsing.[5][6]
Hardly a comparison.......
All in 'remembrance' of George Floyd.....now that's a riot

The political left rioted after Trump was elected president in 2016

Then they rioted in the Summer of 2020, occupying city blocks, burning police stations, shooting people, and vandalizing countless businesses

and you have the nerve to say that Trump supporters were the ones who endorsed political violence first, or somehow started all of this?

and then you continue with your dogwhistles "I wish more Americans cared about the real possibility of losing our republic."

we aren't in danger of losing our republic, and your rhetoric is why the political violence continues. Some Democrats are even objecting to the inflammatory rhetoric

The political left rioted after Trump was elected president in 2016
and before that Trump rose to political prominence as a proponent of the "Birther Movement" and its conspiracies.
At its worst calling for the lynching of then President Obama.

The USA has a long history of political violence. It's shortsighted to think it started with either side in this century.

Under law you are not a convicted felon until the judge passes sentence, the judge may choose not to convict, or declare a mistrial.

Trump has not been sentenced by the judge currently, and it is extremely unlikely that Trump will ever be sentenced in the NY case, and therefore he is not a convicted felon.
Please desist from this mistruth, or you will be lying.

I did a little research. Found a government website and put his name in. No result.

Not only did he donate to Democrats, he has a video on social media where he is ranting about hating Republicans and Trump. Be blessed.

From day one Trump announces his intent to run for president the MSM was nothing but vitriolic towards him. Talking about the threat to democracy and fascism rising. Instilling in the mind of some people that Hitler/Mussolini has reincarnated as Trump. From politicians to Hollywood celebrities there are no shortage of videos and tweets calling for Trump's "removal" (to put it nicely). Any wonder when one of the more naive and younger people acted.

Not even a day has past the media is already downplaying the whole assassinations attempt. CNN's now infamous coverage is one such case. And the RollingStone is already reinforcing the fascist narrative. Before long this attempt will be nothing but a memory; and the the rhetoric will be in full force again.

I think that speech in the USA is much too martial in many respects. Everything people don't like about, a "war" is declared upon. Metaphors regarding weapons abound. It doesn't lend itself to civil discourse. This is a larger, cultural problem, though, and has been going on for decades.
Perhaps it a result of (what I am told)
was the anger and disdain toward all things
military during and post Vietnam-
Followed by a glorification campaign.

A number of Republicans are pointing fingers at President Joe Biden for Saturday’s shooting at a Trump rally, with some citing Biden’s recent statement to donors saying “it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”

In a Politico article shared Monday, Biden reportedly told donors: “I have one job, and that’s to beat Donald Trump. I’m absolutely certain I’m the best person to be able to do that. So, we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”

Sure, sure and this young, white, Republican took that to heart...

They were violent threats to property and people, not to one of the branches of government.
No national political figures were inviting people to "be wild".
