  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biden’s recent statement to donors saying “it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”

What group did he donate to?
The report from early this morning didn't give the name but someone posted it here in a thread I just read a few minutes ago, it was the Progressive ... I'll look for it.

Federal Election Commission records show that a donor listed as Thomas Crooks with the same address gave to a Democratic-aligned political action committee called the Progressive Turnout Project in January 2021.

I have my doubts that he was really connected to anything other than his own world.

My issue is the hypocrisy. After January 6th it is clear many trumpers accept political violence. These people also endorse and encourage what we witnessed yesterday. And to pretend that it shouldn't or won't happen again is the epitome of foolishness. Keep endorsing it and you will keep enduring it as well. It's just an unfortunate fact. Violence begets more violence.
whataboutism

you do realize that two other people were shot correct? An an innocent mad died

the Jan 6th protestors didn't kill anyone--even though they were breaking the law (and paid for it)

Trump isn't out there calling Biden the next Jospeh Stalin, saying that Biden will put millions of Americans into gulags, confiscate property, have people shot, and is a "threat to democracy"

and hundreds of Democrats were posting stuff like this on X before the Trump shooting

View attachment 351579

I will never look at any Twitter stuff or x stuff or whatever. It's not my bag at all. Please keep it to yourself friend. It should surprise no one though. That is exactly the medium Mr Trump exploited to get elected in the first place.

1. Study social media grievances
2. Document grievances
3. Repeat grievances to desperate masses
4. Interfere with the election by conspiring to commit crimes
5. Encourage and collude in interference from foreign countries(collusion is not a crime according to Giuliani and Trump)
6. Earn millions of fewer votes than his opponent yet still...
7. Take oath during inauguration

If you somehow believe anything involving Donald Trump will have a happy ending for America your perceptions are askew. Now I am even fired up. That could have been a relative of mine needlessly shot at a political rally. Most Americans are done with Donald Trump. We always were. We mean it. This obstinate standoff will be painful if y'all insist. How did that congressman phrase it a few days ago- "We can have a bloodless revolution...if people will allow this." But it seems clear many Americans feel like the violence IS the point. And so the wheels on the bus will go bang bang bang. Yippee. Over one criminal conman with a cult following. The Don can't help the fact he brings out the very worst in people. But we can choose to be better people and abstain from the temptations pushing us to behave like spoiled children ourselves. Free will is often a blessing but occasionally our bane. Especially when we have little self awareness to realize recognize our choices are sometimes counterproductive to our happiness and serenity.

Not sure what that wall of text is supposed to mean in the context of this discussion

I can go write a dissertation on how Biden has engaged in a lot of the same things: riling up minorities (identity politics), grievance politics, colluding with foreign governments (through Hunter and his vast web of shell companies, LLCs, etc.), etc.

This is about Biden and the Democrats using inflammatory language and rhetoric to promote political violence in this country

A number of Republicans are pointing fingers at President Joe Biden for Saturday’s shooting at a Trump rally, with some citing Biden’s recent statement to donors saying “it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”

In a Politico article shared Monday, Biden reportedly told donors: “I have one job, and that’s to beat Donald Trump. I’m absolutely certain I’m the best person to be able to do that. So, we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”

I think it’s very apparent he did not call for people to shoot Trump nor do I think that, out of all the inflammatory rhetoric out there on both sides, that this was a call to action. I think it is insulting to Trump to imply that this was a dog whistle that got him attacked, vs what likely happened and should be addressed… He is a high profile target who needs (and deserves) a higher level of protection than it appears he’s getting.

When did Trump imply that this was a dog whistle that got him attacked?

Amazing how this man is shot... and so many just ignore it, pass blame (even to the victim), and then on to business as usual. "He is Hitler..." "Someone needs to shoot him..." etc etc etc
Landslide in November.

Yeah, just like trumpers ignore the fact they already endorse political violence if they are still willing to vote for Mr Trump as president again. Have you forgotten about January 6th? That "wild" event kinda let the political violence cat out of the bag. By endorsing the man who incited that political violence you have endorsed this behavior. I know it's uncomfortable for y'all but it's a fact.

Those who choose to live by the sword will probably die by that sword. So you have a choice to put away the sword (Trump) No? = You choose this political violence. It really is that simple. If you can't detach from Mr Trump you cannot detach yourself from the accompanying political violence. Maybe that is what frightens people. They are realizing how attached they have become to the violence. It's an epidemic apparently. Maybe the violence is what people craved all throughout this Trump movement. It's so difficult to understand for Trump fans and detractors alike.

I'm still waiting for someone to show us something that could empirically show how in the world Donald Trump is worth destroying America for. Seriously. There's strong feelings sure, but little in the way of evidence that might demonstrate how Mr Trump's value is above the value of our well established leading democracy in the world. Americans are a terribly selfish lot in this 21st century. It might be our doom. I wish more Americans cared about the real possibility of losing our republic. Many of our loved ones sacrificed their lives for us and our offspring to enjoy our freedoms. It seems flabbergasting that some Americans are willing to give it up for one man to win one election. The selfishness is appalling to me.

OK. I have no quarrel with this.
What do you want to talk about now?
How about the hypocrisy of the left being SO upset over Trump telling his folks to fight, despite the word being used by political people for decades and then turning around and defending Biden for talking about it being time to put Trump in the bullseye. I'm just so over the hypocrisy. You guys started it with Trump and then dare to act offended when we turn it around on you? Give me a break.

So that justifies and equalizes President Biden saying “it’s time to put [President] Trump in a bullseye”? I hardly think so.

This is just one more major foot-in-mouth blunder from the President. It's pretty much the absolute worst thing he could have possibly said in light of Trump very nearly having been assassinated less than a week later.
Compare that to Donald’s “bloodbath” rhetoric.
