The verdict IS final and in an appeal, they make their case to re-open the case. As for now, regardless what appeal he is applying for, he is a convicted felon facing sentencing. I don't know but my question is, why are all other people who have felony convictions felons but he is not? Considering now he can't rent an apartment or work for a bank among many many other places). I'm sure he doesn't need a job the way he juggles debt and bankruptcy and pays $0 in taxes on his billion+ dollar portfolio. Is he capable of doing anything wrong or are you ready to give all of your possessions to the Church of Trump and move to South America and drink the Kool-Aid that kills the whole colony?

The fact that it can be appealed means it it is not final. You can not appeal a final juudgment. Now what can happen is that a case ccan be overturned YEARS after as was the case with Roe v Wade with another case, but a final judgement cannot be appealed

If he is is appealing the conviction the conviction is not final which means that why would they impose a sentence on a "conviction" that he is contesting.

He even showed unusual deference to Trump, giving him several chances to control himself without throwing him into jail for violating the gag order. He treated him with kid gloves because he knew Trump's lawyers were taking copious notes for the inevitable appeal.

It has been really hard for me to see the unbelievable corruption of Justices Alito and Thomas, who sit arrogantly in court denying any accountability, but the hard work of DA Bragg, Judge Merchan, and the NY justice system have restored my faith that in some parts of the country at least justice is working.

There could be any number of reasons for them to overturn the decision? It could be misconduct by the DA, judge or even jury. It could be that something was allowed to be brought in that should not have been it could be any number of things.

Yes, convictions are appealed, but many times it is also the SENTENCE that is appealed. Sometimes, people have no issue with the CONVICTION, but whether the sentence

I am not even sure Trump COULD get a fair trial. For the record, I would say the same about Biden, Obama anyone like that, but particularly someoe as polorizing as Trump.

You can always appeal a final judgment, it's not until all the upper courts have been exhausted and SCOTUS completely rejects your appeal or takes it up for a case that you've truly exhausted it.

The maximum sentence is 4 years plus a $5,000 fine for each count.

If this criminal gets off with a slap on the wrist, would not every person ever convicted of a felony, many spending years in a jail, be angered at the injustice of someone with 34 convictions receiving a slap on the wrist?

Why should a convicted criminal with $50 million worth of legal representation receive a more favorable sentence than any other criminal?
