Many convictions are appealed. Murderers on death row go through a number of appeals, and do not stop until their last appeal is exhausted.

Throughout the trial, commentators said that Judge Merchan was conducting the trial in such a way that would make successful appeals virtually impossible. He even showed unusual deference to Trump, giving him several chances to control himself without throwing him into jail for violating the gag order. He treated him with kid gloves because he knew Trump's lawyers were taking copious notes for the inevitable appeal.

It has been really hard for me to see the unbelievable corruption of Justices Alito and Thomas, who sit arrogantly in court denying any accountability, but the hard work of DA Bragg, Judge Merchan, and the NY justice system have restored my faith that in some parts of the country at least justice is working.
Murders on death row ( just like anyone else can choose to stop any appearls except the first one. Of course they rarely do, but they can and sometimes do.

The maximum sentence is 4 years plus a $5,000 fine for each count.

If this criminal gets off with a slap on the wrist, would not every person ever convicted of a felony, many spending years in a jail, be angered at the injustice of someone with 34 convictions receiving a slap on the wrist?

Why should a convicted criminal with $50 million worth of legal representation receive a more favorable sentence than any other criminal?
Especially a convicted felon that attempted to interfere with court proceedings as much as he did.

They can be angry all they want, but all have the right to appeal and dependng on the law Trump msy actually have a max of four years which really is much shorter than most people feel is right.

Criminal appeals in state courts can--when certain conditions are met--be appealed to the Supreme Court, after all other appeals are exhausted, but:
"The Supreme Court will only take an appeal where there is a claim that the defendant’s federal constitutional rights were violated, and writs of certiorari are very rarely granted."
Obviously this didn't happen in Trump's trial. He violated gag orders repeatedly and tried to turn the trial into a circus, but Merchan never overreacted.
It's hard for a convicted criminal with a million dollar defense team to claim that his constitutional rights had been violated.

The verdict is in. We now witnessing history. The first man to be elected President a felon

Please........

Make your excuses. Spout your conspiracy theories. Tell us how this makes him an even better candidate. Also comment on what sentencing will look like. Between his outbursts, his contempt of court flirtations, his addressing the jury when that's a no-no. What I want to hear about most is how corrupt the judge was when he was found guilty by a jury of his peers......

After you justify all of his felonies and inform us of the corruption of his judge and the court system in general. Let us know about the same courts' fairness as it relates to race because every known statistic shows the disparity. When you do that, please explain why this is a corrupt court and the courts that have created a disparity between blacks and whites when it comes to pulling citizens over, convicting at a higher rate, charging higher bail, and not approving bail as often as whites, and longer sentences for black who are in the same legal situation as whites and are convicted of the same or similar crimes.

Can't wait to hear from you.
What crime did Trump commit?

IANAL (or a judge) but all 34 counts were in furtherance of one particular criminal enterprise (hushing the adult actress right before the election)

If I were made King Solomon for a day, I would make the sentences concurrent rather than consecutive. So a maximum of 4 years.

Don’t forget can’t vote!
    Classic! Ha ha ha ha! The excuses for this felon are slow in coming. I believe they are going to have to give their justification for electing a 34x felon a lot of thought. I bet people are just sick to their stomachs right now.

I definitely would vote guilty if I was on the Jury based on the Jury instructions.
However
I don't think the verdict is fair because I am sure many other politicians have done the same thing.

I would much prefer it if Trump supporters realized that they have been duped.

Honestly, if that means we start charging every politician that has done this behavior, I think we would be better for it. Clean out the corruption.

The fact that it can be appealed means it it is not final. You can not appeal a final juudgment. Now what can happen is that a case ccan be overturned YEARS after as was the case with Roe v Wade with another case, but a final judgement cannot be appealed
Sorry but THIS judgment IS final. You can appeal to reopen the case but as for the current 34 felonies.....Case closed. If they are capable of opening up a new case based on errors in the first case they can get this final verdict overturned. However, your implication that the current case in not closed, I don't know if it's more fantasy or wishful thinking. Are people who get convicted of car theft, assault, breaking and entering etc still free after they are found guilty and sentenced? Not at all neither is Trumo's case still open. I understand you would like a double standard in the judicial for the rich but guilty is guilty until you appeal the case to reopen. Then there are a variety of appeals. You can appeal the sentence, you can appeal for a mistrial etc but the current case is closed and Trump has 34 felonies on his record. I understand the wishful and slightly deluded thinking though. I mean, many of his followers seem to exhibit traits of not being grounded in the real world, making excuses for Trumo's criminal activity, justifying a former President committing literally dozens of felonies in order to further the Trump Party's agenda.

34 felonies. ook up the details on each one yourself. Regaedless of your opinion, Donald Trump is now a 34x felon. Please, tell me why that is not so after his tantrum after the verdict was read. Do you know what is even funnier? The intimidation he tried to portray, interrupting the judge, addressing the jury directly and so on will work against him in the sentencing phase. Make no mistake, he has been found guilty. Now whether he actually goes to prison where he belongs is another matter. He may be able to bully and cronie his way into probation.

This is bigger than that. If this stands, the people will not be choosing who runs for office. We will be given the choices they allow. To all of us...

[unfortunate typo alert]
Fixed that one and a couple more. I guess my fingers got too excited and weren't being careful. Having said that the system is fixed when we say billionaires can't be felons and we say members of the lower classes are felons before they are found guilty of a felony.

I think people are laughing at Trump and even more so the members of his church.........

His enemies may be laughing at him ...
but his supporters are praying for him, and contributing money to his campaign.
