I think that not wanting to get an X-Ray every time you go across the border is a reasonable thing to ask for, especially for people who do the trip numerous times per year. One X-Ray might be harmless, but the damage adds up.
Yep, the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) says that medical x-rays should not be used multiple times without justification, so this may apply for those who travel across the border.

A lot of disturbing information in this article from newsnationnow.com
Is the DEA and US law enforcement doing enough to oppose the drug cartels? What more can, or should, our American government and law enforcement do against the threat posed by the Mexican fentanyl drug cartels?

Senate: 2024 Appropriation Bill has several measures: (dated 03/21/24....I don't where it stands currently)

Most of the border crossings are done by the daily crossers.

We would have guys who would need to go to Secondary every single day - because of something like them having a Restraining order - just to make sure they weren't violating it.

Their vehicle would need to go through the scanner every single day. It was horrible.

Anyways - I never claimed that it was not reasonable for people to not want to be X-Rayed every day. I know I didn't like it.

Did they really have to X-Ray the cars with you inside? Couldn't you drive them in the machine and then get out before they scan it?

Maybe we need a "Buy American" campaign?
Or maybe a Sunday morning Cooker's Market where all the local purveyors set up ez-up tents in a parking lot. Along with your organic kale and end-grain cutting board, you can pick up some locally-sourced synthetic opiods.

I believe this is known as "Kensington".

I am absolutely SHOCKED and disappointed that people here are making fun of a fentanyl crisis that is killing thousands upon thousands of Americans every year.

I think that cartels don‘t break down people’s doors to kill them with fatal doses of opioids.
I don't understand why you responded that way.

Nobody's making fun of the crisis. We're making some jokes about the headline that focuses on an aspect of the drug business.

No - the machine requires the car to slowly move through it.

That is understandable. However, I find nothing at all amusing about the fentanyl crisis.

America's money-obsessed culture is the root of the problem (the love of money is the root of all evil right?)

When people are desperate for more money either from a real need, culture/fad/trend, or when making money/making a living is harder then necessary, then the obscenely rich cartels can bribe whoever they need to bribe more easily.

Among some countries in Europe lacking a money-obsessed culture, drug-trafficking is less profitable. Much harder to bribe officials and only mostly operate within immigrant populations where the unique conditions can create desperation for money.

The solution is obviously to eliminate conditions that create desperation for money including changes to policies to reduce income gap, banning internet or media content that puts emphasis on getting rich or having a rich lifestyle which is at epidemic levels in USA and countries following USA's footsteps.

Ironically, following Canada's example might even work by destroying the cartel's monopoly. It's sad to say the problem is permanently here to stay, can no longer be removed. But we can at least, remove the market from the violent cartels. If the cartels are not as profitable, they might even move elsewhere. Eliminating the gangs as well.

Not for recreational use which is what’s being discussed.
Do you believe recreational use of fentanyl is something that ought to actually be considered?
