We tend to go to where the “resources”/“trouble” is, whether that’s by luck or design, is above my pay grade.

War profiteering is not a new phenomenon unfortunately. America did it to UK during WW2. However that doesn't mean Ukraine should let Russia steamroll them. People's lives are still at stake. Between a known devil and an unknown devil maybe Ukraine chooses the later given their history with the former.

You might say in the future if Ukraine wins they will be in the pocket of big business, however that is the price that need to be paid for their freedom. Whether right or wrong can only be answered in hindsight. If we don't want this to turn into an exploit maybe Americans should hold the money men like Blackrock and Vanguard accountable. Wars can't be won by passion alone and neither a nation rebuild by pride. Money still matters. It's the way we use money that determines our values.

As for the Polish farmers are just protecting their own interest and livelihood. You have the EU and Russia to thank for that. Due to the war, Ukraine will also need to raise their own funds. EU just gave them special exception to sell to the rest of Europe with no tariffs applied making them cheaper than grains produced by other nations. Without the war prices and distribution will go back to normal.

That the financial vultures circle whenever there is a disaster to exploit is not new. It does not mean the "purpose" of the war was to make those "opportunities."

I don't give a bleep about Blackrock's interests. The war is about Russia and Ukraine. Not US vulture capitalists.
