Perhaps this will clear things up. Should people be treated according to their identity?
In other words should men be allowed to use women's locker rooms because they identify as a woman?

Should people be required to us the pronouns people identify as?

Should men be allowed to compete against women in women's sports?

Answer those questions and that should clarify everything.
I'm not sure how a bunch of attempts to distract from answering my question will clarify anything. All that is does is make it look like the post I was responding to was making up stuff I never said - after all, if that was referencing something real, it would be much easier just to quote that rather than the diversion we see here.

I mean, I get it, the whole "why wouldn't a hospital hire anyone who self-identified as a surgeon regardless of their actual experience" was a pretty dumb talking point. But making up stuff other people never said to try and run away from it isn't a particularly good look either. It'll make people start to wonder what other points are based on similar amounts of empty bluster.

You are also harming yourself if you go against your own personal beliefs on the subject. You are being asked to lie. We really should have a live and let live situation here. If someone calls themselves a woman and they are a man then fine. If someone doesn't want to call you a woman when you are a man then that's fine too.
Exactly! People shouldn’t violate their own beliefs just because of what one “identifies” as.

This is a tactic of the left. It's not requiring anything unless there is a law. Yet people are being required every day to recognize someone's identity through business, educational and sport policies. Nearly all governmental policies for schools and workplaces have the force of rules and policies. Which come directly from the pressure on these places by the transgender activists. The power they have is tremendous.

Kansas middle school teacher who was suspended for repeatedly misgendering student gets $95,000 from district in lawsuit settlement

No this person won a settlement. But the fact is they are out of a job and most likely not going to work in the field again.

California school district suspends kids for 5 days for misgendering trans student: 'Restorative justice'

Montana State University Settles With Student Over Pronoun Dispute

This is another one with a settlement. Yet there is no indication that the policies have changed. Also the article covers other universities with rules of this nature.

ADF sues after coach, daughter suspended for 'misgendering' trans student who used girl's locker room

And that's just about pronouns. There are laws out there stating that women have to share bathrooms with men. Yes thinks force one way or another.

Here's a tip: you don't have to do something just because "the left" (whoever they are) wants you to. If you don't want to support, affirm or even acknowledge someone else's identity, feel free to not to.

These all involve schools, sports or other voluntary activities. You don't like the policy of one school, you're free to attend another. You don't like the policy of a sports organization or team, you're free to join another, or not participate.

Here's the thing: while you have that right...trans people also have rights. If a school or sports organization wishes to support those rights, that's their business. You don't have to support it, but they have just as much right to seek support from these organizations as you have to seek to disallow it. Some might agree with you, some might not. You're free to respond accordingly.

Another sobering thought: sometimes, society as a whole doesn't agree with you and your point of view. It happens. For years, people who are gay, trans, or just plain different were ridiculed and marginalized almost as a matter of course by society. That attitude has changed. Not entirely, granted, but enough that it seems to be a problem for some who prefer the way things used to be.

Times change. Used to be, criminal activity meant the end of a political career...today, not so much. Society changes and adapts all the time. Each of us has to decide what to do about it, and to live our lives accordingly.

But...if you don't want to support a trans person, feel free not to. Sure, you may run afoul of a school policy or two, or the sports organization you like may not agree with you...but that's how things work. You're not always gonna have everyone in the world agree with you.

May as well get used to it. Or not...your choice, really.

-- A2SG, and by the way, a woman has been sharing a bathroom with a man, me, for 25 years now....and my wife hasn't complained yet.....well, maybe if I forget to change the toilet paper roll.....

AS an uncle of a young niece, NO BOY should be forced to share a bathroom with her. PERIOD.

This transgender garbage has gone too far.

Get over it. Boys will NEVER be girls. That's biology.

No, I will NOT "get used to" these delusions.

Trans people need the help they need. Not being lied to that they are the other gender. They need serious therapy and medication.

You're right. I was just pointing out how the left wants ALL people to conform to to this "transgender" nonsense.

I hope she doesn't have any brothers then. Or, if she does, her house has separate bathrooms.

So don't.

But you still live in a society with other people, and some of those people are trans. They have just as much right to live their lives as you do. If this is as much of a problem for you as you seem to indicate here, well, I don't know what to tell ya. Maybe being a hermit is your best option, I dunno.

Whatever you decide, these people aren't going to go away just because you don't like the way they live.

Sorry.

Yes, my niece has two brothers, my nephews. This has nothing to do with trans (BOYS) using women's restrooms.

I don't care what someone identifies as. They have a right to live, yes. But I am not going to live as a hermit as I watch other people be delusional.

No apologies. This trans garbage needs to stop.

Nope.

Just so you know, "the left" isn't a monolith.....many on "the left" don't care a pair of fetid dingo's kidneys what you do.

....if I identify as a 65+ year old and refuse to work, can I get social security? Even though I am much younger than 65 (my mother is 60). This is where there is a HUGE issue with "I identify as XYZ."

If you're a male you're a man, if you're a female, you're a woman. That's a fact.

I don't recall saying a word on the subject, frankly. I just noticed that boys and girls share bathrooms all the time at home. Sure, problems can arise if one of them hogs the bathroom for long periods of time, but all seem to figure out ways to deal regardless.

I just don't see this as anywhere near the major problem you seem to, is all.

Okay. It was just a suggestion.

Meh. It's ok. God will have the final say and they will all pass through judgement anyway.

If you can prove you're eligible, probably. If you can't, probably not. Social Security doesn't base benefits on what you identify as.

Even though I am much younger than 65 (my mother is 60). This is where there is a HUGE issue with "I identify as XYZ."
There is no issue at all in this case, then. SSI doesn't ask what you identify as.

If you're a male you're a man, if you're a female, you're a woman. That's a fact.
Okay.

But if you see someone walking down the street, with long hair wearing a dress and carrying a purse, how can you know for sure if they have the right genitalia? Well, without risking getting slapped...or worse?

And besides....what difference would it make?

-- A2SG, how does it affect you at all, anyway....
